It's been done to death now. It was wrong, there's been apologies, it won't happen again. FFS please let it go now.

OP posts:
ArosAdraDrosDolig · 13/01/2021 22:32

Yet, you have started another thread about it.

muminthesummer · 13/01/2021 22:33

Omg you're right! what have I done!!!

OP posts:
Orgyofsausages · 13/01/2021 22:35

What would you like to hear about, OP?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 13/01/2021 22:37

It's another symptom of the rotten shit going on in this country. Tip of the iceberg.

Gilead · 13/01/2021 22:38

And if we’d all kept quiet, no change.

frumpety · 13/01/2021 22:41

Were private companies involved ? Surely the Government should have just given some ringfenced money to the LEA ?

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 13/01/2021 22:41

The main provider awarded the contract is financially linked to those in the Conservarive party, and let's not pretend that they havent skimmed a huge amount off the top and given kids £5 worth of food.
A small amount towards admin is fine, but that they did is absolutely disgraceful. Without it being all over the press, the Tories would have allowed it to continue.
That is the story. Our government awarded the contract to a company they're friends are linked with, and allowed them to make ridiculous profits from the poorest kids in our society. Is that really someone we should sweep away after a few apologies?

Whatwouldscullydo · 13/01/2021 22:41

So what to buy in aldi gets dozens of threads but there's a limit on how many times we can mention kids being screwed over and going hungry?

Got it

Seen any decent films lately?

Blondenotbombs · 13/01/2021 22:41

Let me guess - you don’t need a food parcel ??

Wannabangbang · 13/01/2021 22:42

Yeh because letting things go gets the poor any where. Problem is there's a massive class divide in this country and all children deserve to eat. We live in a first world country. If we can't feed our needy but Boris can eat the finest meals at £££s per head what sort of country are we. Especially during a pandemic!

Orgyofsausages · 13/01/2021 22:43

Of course there were private companies involved! You can squeeze profit out of anyone and anything you know. Hungry, poor kids included. Yay!

RizzleDrizzle · 13/01/2021 22:43

You seriously think it won’t happen again?!

Really you think that’s all it takes is an apology?!?!

And absolutely what gilead said, and this goes for any injudice and inequality if we keep quiet or just give up when some one says a quiet insincere “sorry” then we never change we never move forward and make things better!

It mightn’t affect you it affects a lot of people

Titsinknicks · 13/01/2021 22:44

A fan of the ignorance is bliss school of thought, Op?

RizzleDrizzle · 13/01/2021 22:45

@Blondenotbombs

Let me guess - you don’t need a food parcel ??
Yep this type of thread is always it doesn’t affect me so I don’t want hear about it!

Yeah well just because it doesn’t affect you doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be talked about

Wannabangbang · 13/01/2021 22:45

Such a shame people such as you have the '' it's alright Jack'' mentality because you are okay, it does affect you yada yada and bored of it kids have to suffer.

Wannabangbang · 13/01/2021 22:45

*doesn't

zoemum2006 · 13/01/2021 22:47

You’re a moron if you think they won’t try exactly the same thing in every way they can to scam the tax payer to line their pockets.

Our government is truly corrupt.

Zesting · 13/01/2021 22:48

I'm sick children being fucked over by the government.

pickingdaisies · 13/01/2021 22:49

I know, let's start a thread on making ten nutritious meals out of a few carrots a lump of cheese and a couple of spuds. Um... There must be a way, I'll get back to you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/01/2021 22:49

Were private companies involved ? Surely the Government should have just given some ringfenced money to the LEA?

Private companies are always involved with this government, but in fairness what makes you think LEAs would have made a better job of it?

Granted it might avoid some of the profit motive, but they'd probably still have been having committee meetings to decide who'd be on the committe

Zesting · 13/01/2021 22:50

*sick of children being fucked over by the government

RizzleDrizzle · 13/01/2021 22:51

What else should we get over op?

Covid?
Immigration?
Brexit?
Sexism?
Sexual violence?
The death penalty?
Donald trump?
Racism?
Wind rush?
Abuse of children?
Bullying?!?!

All those things just take an appolgy right?!!

Lottle · 13/01/2021 22:51

Are you part of the government perhaps? Just the sort of thing they would say.

So sorry it is boring you.

I personally feel government corruption, inefficient public sector spending and hungry children shouldn't just be "let go".

They were not awarded any sort of contract from central government. Schools were told to carry on with the catering companies they already used, so although in a roundabout way the government didn't give schools much of a choice, its incorrect to say that they were awarded a huge government contract. A centralised response as they have now agreed to (provision of vouchers) is much better, and avoids the rip off sub contractors profiting from it.

Feathersinthehead · 13/01/2021 22:55

Yet you are posting excessively about GSSEs and keeping your child motivated, which I find tedious. Lazy, indifferent children can do retakes if it matters to them.
Hungry children can’t learn, inadequate nutrition has a serious impact on later health and learning. It needs to be seen as a scandal and popularised, otherwise nothing changes.
I couldn’t afford baked potatoes as a student, they took too much electricity to cook. That lunch box has been slung together without thought or respect for the recipients.
