Another 100k doses given as a second dose. Good news for some.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/01/2021 17:24

I'm watching the briefing.
Joan Bakewell pissed me off..pretending it wasn't all "me me me" and saying that all over 80s are confused.

Yes, the list of twatteriness new word) is astounding (old word, but one I like). People never fail to delight and horrify me in equal measure. All those on this thread fall into the "delight" category.
As does a new magnolia tree.

@TheChineseChicken

Anyone watching the briefing? The list of misdemeanours is astonishing! What’s wrong with people?
Yep listening here. Crazy people
PuttyIn · 12/01/2021 17:37

Damn I missed it! Where can I catch up? I prefer to watch them then read about them afterwards Sad

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/01/2021 17:38

Normally I’m an avid briefing watcher, in fact I think I’ve watched every single one! But I had to turn it off today because I just can’t stand Priti Patel!

You didn’t miss a lot except an update on the London hospitals situation
TheChineseChicken · 12/01/2021 17:42

Unless you’re planning a boat party or minibus trip to Wales for a walk

The table of cases in councils in England is updated with the latest data on www.covidmessenger.com

My cautious optimism continues - both Kent and Essex (the first counties hit with the new variant) seem to have topped out and are registering week-over-week falls in many of their councils for the third day running.

For those not familiar with the table, click the county column on the table on the homepage (www.covidmessenger.com) to sort by county and scroll through to see the green/red (which indicates falling/rising cases week-over-week respectively).

It's a bit early to do a happy dance but I am feeling quite cheered by this glimmer of hope.....

@SandysMam

Place marking as feel very low at the moment BUT I am CV bordering on CEV and had Covid a month ago and got over it quickly without medical help so I guess that in itself is good news! Thanks for this thread xx
Literally the only thing that has made me smile today. Wonderful news.

Duff info alert. It's about 20k. I'm blaming the constantly shifting figures of yesterday and my depleted homeschooling brain.
CrumbsThatsQuick · 12/01/2021 18:18

Apologies if this counter has already been posted.... made me feel a bit more positive.

Agree with the PP who said vaccines seem to be a bit of a postcode lottery. We’re NW and my 77 year old parents haven’t heard anything. I just hope as it gathers pace and we get more administered each week it will start to really take affect. I think we live in an area with quite a large number of much older people.

Good news that cases seem to be dropping nationally now. Come on, past the peak, past the peak!!

DD had a zoom with her teacher today which she loved but it made her so sad (again) not to be in school. She’s only five and misses it dreadfully. Her teacher said maybe next time she could organise a zoom with some of the (key worker) children in school and my DD was like ‘what does she mean mummy? There aren’t any children in school?’ Erm..... 😢

@CrumbsThatsQuick That counter is amazing - just lovely.

Scrumpybetty that's great news and thoroughly deserved. I know a lot of the porters and domestic staff get forgotten about sometimes so delighted for everyone.

It seems really apt that Brian Blessed is married to a woman called Hildegard 😄
