Parking myself on the only thread on mumsnet that doesn’t make me want to remove my own eyeballs with a spoon

PoppinAlong · 11/01/2021 17:39

Support bubbles definitely not going anywhere Smile

FourTeaFallOut · 11/01/2021 17:42

2.3m people must be pretty close to 4% of the population, isn't it?

FuzzyPuffling · 11/01/2021 17:43

The woman from the Yorkshire Post thinks everyone lives within 10 minutes of a pharmacy! Bet she lives in Leeds!

I'd like to see more information/consideration for people in isolated rural communities and how that will be managed. Our nearest super hub is approx 2.5 hours drive away.
Send us a Battlebus!

Briefing over.

Perfectly put
tootyfruitypickle · 11/01/2021 17:47

Are they doing this press conferences daily now? I’d quite like a routine of sitting down and hearing how many more people vaccinated each day

FourTeaFallOut · 11/01/2021 17:49

I think they should have a ticker on the bottom right of the TV, like the GMTV clock. Obviously it would need to be theoretical and simply match the current pace of the vaccination but it would be very cool (for geeks like me).

MarcelineMissouri · 11/01/2021 17:52

Anyone else still watching and thinking shut up Betty Boothroyd?? She has no idea what she’s taking about!

I keep telling myself not to click on the latest 'Noone is following the roolz in my town anymore" posts but I can't help myself. I really do wonder what some of those posters are going to do once all this is over - which sooner or later it will be - and they can't tell people to 'stay the fuck at home' and offer expert opinions about the wonders of NZ and 'mask compliance' in Japan.
JustFoldInTheCheese · 11/01/2021 18:11

Does anyone know if there is an up to date website that shows vaccination progress? Every one that i have tried so far are days out of date

FuzzyPuffling · 11/01/2021 18:13

IcedPurple they will go back to "Is my MIL being unreasonable for daring to speak to me...EVER?" threads.

I think just focusing on vaccinations is key!

David Navarro from WHO said on PM that he thinks that the Uk is putting a lot of effort and organisation into vaccination programme and he would not be critiquing it .

FourTeaFallOut · 11/01/2021 18:18

That sounds interesting. Where did he says that? Was it in response to a particular question?

Pomegranatespompom · 11/01/2021 18:24

@JemimaPyjamas @MarcelineMissouri we’ve Florida booked for Easter which I can’t bare to cancel yet but I’ve also booked flights for July.
Maybe can transfer Easter to a Europe holiday - I’ve not totally given up hope yet.
Thanks for the new thread.
I did my anaphylaxis update today - so can start jabbing later this week hopefully.

I wonder it they're the same people who start threads asking if theyre being 'U' by not letting builders use their bathroom?
Crumpetycrump · 11/01/2021 18:29

I thought he said over 50’s by April.... Smile

JemimaPyjamas · 11/01/2021 18:30

I am not patriotic in the least, and I also can't abide Boris and Co, but weirdly the vaccine side of things is making me feel quite proud! I think the UK have handled a lot of things wrong (granted, it's not easy to get right but the worst choices seem to have been made often) but it looks like, with this, things are finally looking up!

JemimaPyjamas · 11/01/2021 18:34

@Pomegranatespompom Easter might be slightly too early, but I agree with not cancelling yet as a whole lot might change before then.

I think the whole holiday situation is causing constant low level anxiety with me at the moment. Our area is relatively low, relatively, and its reasonably easy to be careful where I live (semi rural) so I am not too concerned about that angle despite being CV, but I am SO desperate to have things start to visibly improve. We have also been planning this holiday since 2018 and have been close to nowhere as a result (we were supposed to go in Summer 2020 but obviously couldn't.) The vaccine side of where we are going doesn't look great yet but I am hoping things will improve there soon, and also that they depend too much on tourism not to let us vaccinated Brits in!

tootyfruitypickle · 11/01/2021 18:40

@FourTeaFallOut I was cooking at the time but I think they just asked him how he thought the govt was doing , and he was clear there was nothing to criticise .

FourTeaFallOut · 11/01/2021 18:41

Brill, thanks.

Yay, I'm surrounded by spots. I can't zoom in on your pic enough to see the key Fuzzy am I crossing my fingers for blue or purple?

Peggyslantern · 11/01/2021 18:53

I was so pleased to see the drop in cases today - any little positives are good aren't they? With the new variant, it was hard to not worry about things just growing and growing.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/01/2021 18:55

Big centres green (scarcely noticeable!) Hospitals, blue and community facilities (GP etc) purple.

I'm in a very sparse area! They do need to sort out us country dwellers. (And no, the local pharmacy won't do. It's a weedy little shop straight off the high street - no parking, no ability to socially distance in a queue, and the door is so bloody stiff, no one can open it!)

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 11/01/2021 18:56

Cases are still growing here - up 23% from last week. My fingers are firmly crossed for a drop soon.
