Do you SERIOUSLY imagine that people can 'go on furlough' just because they want to??

Exactly! It's not a holiday destination 🤣🤣

knittingaddict · 04/01/2021 15:29

@LoudTree

Hopefully he will announce a real lockdown for the first time- no one leaves home until April 1st unless a genuine key worker.

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused Hmm

No exercise, no popping to the shops for a bottle of wine Hmm

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

What fresh new hell is that.

I'm a rule keeper, but you really asked a neighbour to go on furlough?

No buying wine?

Usually I'm gobsmacked by the rule breakers, but I'm speechless right now.

It was a joke? Right?

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 04/01/2021 15:29

Tier 5- every household assigned a gun wielding pigeon that will shoot without hesitation if anyone in the household caught breaking the rules

ComDummings · 04/01/2021 15:30

@Eileithyiaa

Imagine being asked by a neighbour to go on furlough 😂😂
🤣 I don’t know why but you made me laugh so much Eileithyiaa 🤣
Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 15:30

'Excuse me, do you think maybe you could take a bit of a furlough? You're making our neighbours uncomfortable"

Kljnmw3459 · 04/01/2021 15:30

I wish there was a way to keep schools open but I just can't see it happening.

ShinyGreenElephant · 04/01/2021 15:30

@LoudTree that's proper cheered me up, thanks! I thought my neighbour was bad for trying to report me when I brought my suicidal mate round to ours for safe keeping (police weren't interested and she was most put out). But you take the prize for biggest nutcase neighbour!

tinselearedcow · 04/01/2021 15:30

@VickyEadieofThigh

Please note that whatever he announces (and knowing his record so far, it will not be as much as is needed) won't come into effect until at the earliest one minute into Thursday -because Parliament have not been recalled until Wednesday and they will have to vote on any new measures.
I think the regulations allow for him to do it before a vote?
SisterlyCare · 04/01/2021 15:30

It’s at 8pm because he needs to put baby to sleep first lol.

Roselilly36 · 04/01/2021 15:31

Put loudtree in bat Grin. Sounds a sensible, non-judgemental type!

Love2cycle · 04/01/2021 15:31

@loudtree
You seriously asked your neighbour to go on furlough??? I have no words.

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 15:31

@HibernatingTill2030 tbf, my DH would probably die or at least have severe withdrawal without his diet coke. So it's pretty essential.

TakingItOnTheChin · 04/01/2021 15:32

I am laughing hysterically. I think that I am losing the plot. I have spent all fucking year in my house, avoiding this virus as I am vulnerable. I even wash my shopping and quarantine post but have lost my taste and smell and feel ill. Awaiting test results. I do not think my mental health is going to be able to take any more of this shitshow. Shock

SummerHouse · 04/01/2021 15:32

I wish my neighbours would sort my trip to Furlough. Not one of them has insisted I go. Selfish bastards.

DirtyDancing · 04/01/2021 15:32

I predict we will be moving to full lockdown.. Tier 6.75; Red team, Group D.

No one will have a clue what it means, but assume it’s still okay to have play dates and mince around the playgrounds without a mask on anyway.

chomalungma · 04/01/2021 15:33

Well he said schools should be open last week so I am fully expecting a u-turn.

Keir Starmer said there should be a lockdown and Nicola Sturgeon has announced one for Scotland - so he will be late to the party....again

TammyHullfigure · 04/01/2021 15:33

These posts are stupid everyone says for him to resign but whenever asked who to reace him they give a bulls hit answer...

Relax, it was a joke - remember when we used to laugh?

Although, I think he should resign. I don't relish the thought of Gove or Patel as the new PM, but no one should be allowed to get away with such bad handling of a situation.

Lissy23 · 04/01/2021 15:33

Any news on support bubbles and also private childcare like nurseries and childminders?

PhilCornwall1 · 04/01/2021 15:34

Full lockdown and public executions carried out by Hancock for the naughty rule breakers.

GhostPepperTears · 04/01/2021 15:34

remember when we used to laugh?

You mean the good natured, finding something funny kind of laugh? Not this rocking in the corner, stroking my own hair, kind?

Grin
52andblue · 04/01/2021 15:34

I predict
a. he will be late
b. it will be 'all to Tier 4'
c. he won't make 'Schools closing' announcement until Thursday

AlecTrevelyan006 · 04/01/2021 15:35

Perhaps he’s going to announce that many more hundreds of thousands of people are going to lose their jobs and that the country faces economic ruin which will take decades from which to recover.

But never mind, we need to protect the NHS.

Barbie222 · 04/01/2021 15:35

@VickyEadieofThigh

I think they have to ratify it within 48 hours or similar?
coronaway · 04/01/2021 15:36

I think Boris will announce a policy of mass suicide ordered by law. This will surely help reduce Covid cases? Why has no-one thought of this?

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 15:36

I'm a bit hysterical too. The kind of nervous laughter when something terrible is happening. It happened to me at a funeral once. Too early for gin?
