@LoudTree

Hopefully he will announce a real lockdown for the first time- no one leaves home until April 1st unless a genuine key worker.

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused Hmm

No exercise, no popping to the shops for a bottle of wine Hmm

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

Unless your are getting up close and personal with him or he's forcing himself into all the neighbours houses how is he a risk to the area?

If he's at work he's actually around less time to spread any virus

You might also want to bone up on how the furlough scheme works.

How is buying what you consider to be a non essential item in a supermarket more of a risk than one you would allow people to buy?

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 15:36

I’m laughing at the pp asking neighbour to go on furlough

The laugh cry hysterical kind - but not really just in my mind

tinselearedcow · 04/01/2021 15:37

Johnson can lockdown prior to seeking the approval of Parliament:

"Urgency Procedure and made affirmative

If a statutory instrument:

contains a declaration that the person making it is of the opinion that, by reason of urgency, it is necessary to make the order without a draft being so laid and approved

then it does not need prior parliamentary approval. The instrument must be laid before each House of Parliament after it has been made but it can have force and effect immediately.

If the “made affirmative” procedure is used, an instrument lapses (in this case) 28 days after it is made, unless it is approved by both Houses in that period. The 28 days excludes periods of dissolution, prorogation or prolonged adjournment. Either House may “reject” the regulations within the 28-day period, in which case they expire at the end of that day."

Ansjovis · 04/01/2021 15:38

The only thing he can do to hurt me now is to say no more meeting one other person outside. I fully acknowledge that to other people this is far from the case but that's where I'm at now.

You need to bugger off. You seriously told your neighbour to stop working?? Fucking hell

The best bit of Loudtrees post "he has refused Hmm" 😂😂

@SisterlyCare

It’s at 8pm because he needs to put baby to sleep first lol.
I immediately thought ‘but which one?’ No idea why that sprang to mind. Grin
MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 15:39

Yep

He has refused Hmm

😂

Eckhart · 04/01/2021 15:39

@TammyHullfigure

Who would you like instead?

Mr Blobby?

Oh. I thought he was Mr Blobby.
Furries · 04/01/2021 15:40

@Blubellsarebells

"I think he’ll give a full and honest account of his failings; admit that the current shit show wasn’t inevitable and could have been negated if he’d spent the summer planning and preparing for winter; and then his resignation." Bless you, bluebaubles, youve gone delirious Wink I hope you're right. He's a useless twat but I cant see him admitting that.
I read the user names too quickly and thought that you were talking to yourself!

Like others, I’m off to get the wine out the cupboard.

I hope he told them to furlough off!

Maybe we should just nail everyone’s front doors shut? Ridiculous nonsense.
supergirls · 04/01/2021 15:40

@LoudTree

Back again under another username are we? Please do tell how you would find enough supermarket staff to police everyone's bags - that's actually one of the most hilarious things I've read so far today.

JigSaw879 · 04/01/2021 15:40

@TakingItOnTheChin

Is Tier 4 even working? Don't think it isHmm
No. I know someone who has driven from Lancashire to London and back twice in the last 10 days, including one trip for NYE gaieties.
GhostPepperTears · 04/01/2021 15:41

LoudTrees is defo just trying to wind us up or provide giggles.

It's worked, so I am thinking of popping notes through my neighbours doors, asking them not to go to work so as to keep Covid off our street. It's tree lined and so not the sort of area one might expect to find common illnesses like this one 😂😂

Scaredshitlessagain · 04/01/2021 15:41

@SummerHouse

I wish my neighbours would sort my trip to Furlough. Not one of them has insisted I go. Selfish bastards.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
friendlycat · 04/01/2021 15:41

Come on everyone the Loudtree post is just a windup.

The language gives it away. Otherwise Loudtree her DH and neighbours would have insisted not merely asked.

bathsh3ba · 04/01/2021 15:41

Tier 4 across country and all schools closed till at least 18 Jan is my prediction. Which will end up being lockdown till Easter. My DD is in pieces and it hasn't even been confirmed yet.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 15:42

Like others, I’m off to get the wine out the cupboard.

Today’s challenge how long you can wait before cracking the red open before 8pm

I’m going for 6.30pm

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 15:42

Not you

But me

HeronLanyon · 04/01/2021 15:42

furries I was thinking the same but May stagger it so I can ‘stay up late’ for my shits and kicks - watching boris at 8.
Seriously I feel like going and counting my wine and beer . . .

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 15:42

@EndoplasmicReticulum

So if he shuts schools, some primary children went back to mingle for just 1 day.

That was, umm, useful.

Really unbelievable 🤬. Thank God for the NEU members that protected some lines of transmission by not going in today.

This actually has to be a joke doesn’t it? You were harassing someone who lives on your street to go on furlough??? Jesus Christ -if this is actually serious you all need some real help. The guy is probably looking to move somewhere where he can actually go to work in peace. Did you start a picket line and yell scab at the end of the road?
MrsWhites · 04/01/2021 15:42

So glad that I kept my children at home today. How many children/teachers/support staff have been put at unnecessary risk today because of his pig headed behaviour!

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 15:42

@Beebityboo

It's criminal he let all those children mix at school today.
Agree.
