Day 2/3 of symptoms and feel so unwell - can anyone handhold?

Hello,

I’m sorry for another 89 millionth covid thread. I’m on either day 2 or 3 since first symptoms started, after I was in close contact with a confirmed positive a few days earlier. I am feeling really scared.

I feel really grim. Nausea, dizziness, shaky, temperature, chills. Can’t really move from bed.

Anyone else early in the illness right now want to connect or hand hold? Or is there perhaps anyone a bit further on who could share a bit about their progression of symptoms?

This just feels really scary as I can’t imagine how much worse it will get.

@colouringindoors my headache got better earlier with paras and also got DH to give me a head massage- have you got anyone who can do that?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 31/12/2020 22:40

Smell and taste have been gone for a week for me - they both went on Christmas Eve Hmm No sign of them returning yet... I do miss them.

colouringindoors · 01/01/2021 00:35

thanks girlinthenorth just been glued to a thread with lots of nhs staff saying how horrendous things are. Need to step away. F**king frightening tbh.

HikeForward · 01/01/2021 09:02

The lower back pain was terrible, I remember having it for a couple of nights and sobbing on the bed. I have prescription zomorph for another condition and even they only took the edge off the back pain. Don’t recall calf pain though it was just my back, around the sacro iliac joint.

Hope you all feel better soon! Keep well hydrated and remember to take aspirin if you can.

HikeForward · 01/01/2021 09:12

@HikeForward when are you back at work ? I'm HCP too and can't imagine how that's going to be ok!!

I’m supposed to be going back to work Monday too! I have a student starting as well. I don’t know how I’m going to cope to be honest.

Can you ask for a phased return?

Occupational Health said I have to be free of fever and all symptoms before returning (but a cough/fatigue is ok apparently as can last months!) Is your workplace the same?

I’m worried i won’t be able to make it on Monday. And I’m worried if I don’t my team might lose patience or demand a sick note (which I can’t get with GPs not seeing patients). I’ve obviously got the NHS documents that confirmed my positive test and 2 week isolation but I took an additional week off. I can self-certify that 1 week but do you need a GP note for more even if it’s covid related? No GP will see me if I still have fever as I’d be potentially infectious still!

HikeForward · 01/01/2021 09:14

@colouringindoors

My sense of smell and taste came back around 2 weeks after symptom onset.

It took a few days for it to fully return and certain things still taste a bit weird!

colouringindoors · 01/01/2021 13:27

thanks.
My headache is not quite as bad today. Im in a filthy mood though!

hike if you don't feel recovered enough to return to work, then i think you should listen to your body. Aches/pain sound like symptoms.

Moomin97 · 01/01/2021 14:54

Hi all, I tested positive on 28th, symptoms since boxing day. The anxiety has been dreadful for me too, the constant worry its about to get much worse. I am very breathless especially on exertion and dizzy too. Can anyone tell me if pulse oximeter shows normal sats does that mean I don't need to worry too much about feeling breathless? X

girlofthenorth · 01/01/2021 16:39

@Moomin97 I think the advice is if your sats are showing they are ok but you are still feeling very breathless you should still ring 111 , as they can be ok then suddenly drop . Just call if you are worried .

girlofthenorth · 01/01/2021 16:44

@HikeForward I'm actually PT so feel bad asking for phased . I had a bad chest infection this time last year and had to have a phased return as I had 6 weeks off work . I think I'll just try and pace myself . Yes I can return as long as no fever . Do you know though , I have no idea about the GP thing...I had the 7 days off self certificate , I didn't even think to ring the GP when I was off this week...whoops..

Have done well today though , managed to get out with dog and a drive in the car , have made dinner ! Wowzers !

Anniemag · 01/01/2021 18:55

Mine started with runny nose - then awful migraine followed by sickness and upset tummy- now 3rd day of nausea- anyone else with similar symptoms?

pommedeterre · 01/01/2021 18:59

I had a test today, been nauseous with intermittent upset tummy for 2 days. Felt feverish two nights ago in the dead of night. Am exhausted.

Kept thinking it couldn't be but am not normally ill. Have been out on walks, met one friend for a walk, popped into empty local shop once in last week. Can;'t understand how I could get tummy bug or covid really?!

Anniemag · 01/01/2021 19:30

I’ve just ordered a test - I’ve not been anywhere except the shops - and we were isolating in September as daughter had Covid- I had symptoms but not the same this time?? Maybe order a test online

ToastieSnowy · 04/01/2021 13:11

I think it’s day 16 for me. On New Year’s Day I started to feel a little better. I’m still tired, still coughing, still got upset guts but my kidney pain is considerably reduced. I do feel I turned a corner 3 days ago and am now on recovery. Got enough energy to start taking the Christmas decorations down which is surreal as I haven’t celebrated Christmas yet. Thankful I’m still here though.

Hang in there everyone. Thinking of you all.

girlofthenorth · 04/01/2021 14:42

Hi @ToastieSnowy and all , day 17 for me .
I'm feeling brighter but chest very sore , my breathings tight and GP thinks I need more antibiotics ...urgh !!!! Must admit this has made me feel really upset .
My energy isn't too bad and hopefully this will get rid of anything lingering..temp ok though .

How is everyone else doing ?

girlofthenorth · 04/01/2021 14:43

Ps @ToastieSnowy so glad you feel a little better Thanks

HikeForward · 04/01/2021 15:22

@HikeForward I'm actually PT so feel bad asking for phased . I had a bad chest infection this time last year and had to have a phased return as I had 6 weeks off work

Did you make it to work?

I had to call in sick again. Felt exhausted, dizzy and nauseous when I got up. Team were very kind about it. Apparently ‘covid sick leave’ is recorded differently (at least in NHS) so doesn’t affect Bradford score or pay.

It’s been weeks and I still feel wiped out, shaky, coughing, lungs hurting.

HikeForward · 04/01/2021 15:28

Mine started with runny nose - then awful migraine followed by sickness and upset tummy- now 3rd day of nausea- anyone else with similar symptoms?

Yes mine started in a similar way; first morning felt like a bad cold, then sinus pain and nausea with severe headache and fever, then at least 2 days of D&V before the classic cough, breathlessness and loss of taste/smell started. GI symptoms are more common than people realise. Covid can cause a whole body inflammatory response so D&V aren’t unusual.

Hope you feel better soon!

girlofthenorth · 04/01/2021 15:38

@HikeForward am working from home today . I can do that fairly easily in my job , found it hard to talk on phone for long though ..I think I will have to go to office on Wednesday though..sorry you are still feeling so ill . Have you spoken to GP for assessment of chest or X-ray if having ongoing pains ?

SuperMutha · 04/01/2021 17:47

Can I ask if anyone thought they had a cold at first? I have asthma and MS and take immunosuppressive drugs so any illness wipes me out but I didn't initially suspect covid when I first started feeling ill before Xmas as I had none of the 3 main symptoms.
Now I have a fever and a cough and have just done a test but its well over a week since I first felt ill so no idea if it will even register.

ToastieSnowy · 09/01/2021 14:24

@SuperMutha did you take a test? I thought mine was a cold. I woke up with a cough, bad headache and stuffed nose. Genuinely didn’t think it was Covid. It was.

girlofthenorth · 09/01/2021 16:45

@SuperMutha I had cold symptoms but also a cough .

How are you doing now @ToastieSnowy @HikeForward @colouringindoors @LeFluffyPants @ShopoholicIn ? Anyone else ?

I'm on my second lot of antibiotics as still have had a achey sore chest. GP didn't listen to it though , said just take them .
Has anyone else had this ? I'm still really tired but having odd glimmers of normal energy ...which goes if I do anything ..other symptoms mostly gone hopefully !!

SuperMutha · 09/01/2021 16:58

@ToastieSnowy yeah mine was negative so its a chest infection

Thanks for the reply

ToastieSnowy · 09/01/2021 19:07

Sorry you had a chest infection @SuperMutha glad it wasn’t Covid.

Hi @girlofthenorth I’m still only slowly recovering. Would say about 30% energy levels, I told my boss on Friday I’d try work on Monday but don’t think I’ll last the morning. Still have a cough, not got my voice back yet and just very little energy. I want to think of something other than Covid.

colouringindoors · 12/01/2021 00:38

hi @girlofthenorth I'm doing loads better, thanks for asking. Feel well, just have some sinus congestion and smell/taste at about 60%

Really think my 1000 vit c, 2500iu d3 and high dose zinc helped.
