Day 2/3 of symptoms and feel so unwell - can anyone handhold?

Hello,

I’m sorry for another 89 millionth covid thread. I’m on either day 2 or 3 since first symptoms started, after I was in close contact with a confirmed positive a few days earlier. I am feeling really scared.

I feel really grim. Nausea, dizziness, shaky, temperature, chills. Can’t really move from bed.

Anyone else early in the illness right now want to connect or hand hold? Or is there perhaps anyone a bit further on who could share a bit about their progression of symptoms?

This just feels really scary as I can’t imagine how much worse it will get.

Im pretty convinced I had it when we first went into lockdown (although no testing at the time) The dizziness was definitely the worst aspect of it for me but it does go eventually. My mam caught it shortly after (works in a hospital) Shes in her late sixties and carrying significantly more than a few extra pounds Grin She was rough for a week then tired for another week that was it. Please try not to let the anxiety get the better of you, you will almost certainly be fine Thanks

LeFluffyPants · 21/12/2020 14:42

Can’t tell you all how much I appreciate the reassuring comments. And so glad to hear of all the people who have recovered well.

I am still feeling rotten but it’s coming and going a lot with moments of feeling ok! I understand this is pretty common with Covid. Still no real cough but definitely a feeling of tightness in my chest.

Now to stop playing with my phone and have a rest! X

I'm also positive OP and with you . Horrible isn't it . I'm up and down . Cough temp, no temp, everything coming and going .

Ghouliet · 21/12/2020 17:36

Hi OP I’m day 3 too. 40s with underlying health conditions. Cough settled but getting a kicking from my kidneys, sore eyes and mental fatigue.

No temp although I had one through the night, that’s a usual reaction by my immune system to an arthritis flare though (joints started aching 5 days ago), it’s like “she’s asleep, crank up the thermostat!”.

ToastieSnowy · 21/12/2020 17:44

Name change from Ghouliet as a Halloween name just doesn’t feel right Wink

Stay in bed and drink plenty of fluids if you can.
My teen ds had Covid end of March and was in bed for 15 days, mind you he spends alot of time in it anyway!
He took about 4 weeks to fully recover but that was just a bit of fatigue, loss of appetite.

LeFluffyPants · 21/12/2020 21:02

@girlofthenorth oh so sorry you’re also in the club that absolutely no one wants to be a member of! Yes that’s exactly how I’m finding it - temp then no temp, chills then fine, tired then loads of energy... really odd!

What day are you on? I’m only on day 2 or possibly 3 so I know it’s early days...

OP posts:
LeFluffyPants · 21/12/2020 21:05

@ToastieSnowy now that’s an absolutely lovely name change! Love it Xmas Wink

So sorry you’re feeling crap. Yes I’ve totally got the mental fogginess thing and sore eyes. I’ve also still got this low grade fever but weirdly no cough! Yet...

Are you finding symptoms coming and going a bit or are they fairly constant? Mine are so on and off. Really weird.

It’s nice to have company, though of course I’d much rather we weren’t all here!! Hoping it stays fairly mild/moderate for us all xx

OP posts:
ToastieSnowy · 21/12/2020 21:44

Yes my headache, sinus pain and sore eyes have disappeared. Kidneys are still grumbling away and my back has started aching. I feel shattered and a little light headed but brain fog has lifted slightly. It’s so odd.

How are you doing op?

NoBloodyHolly · 21/12/2020 23:22

I’m so sorry you’re feeling so unwell Flowers

I had it a couple of months ago and felt really awful. It was my third day that was the worst, so hopefully it will get better for you from now on.

I won’t pretend it was all rosy from day 4 onwards- I was still unwell but it was a huge relief to be able to do things like sit up & brush my hair! And then one day- I think it was day 6- I just suddenly felt almost back to normal again. It was so strange!

I’ve had lingering effects so be prepared for that, but they’re not painful or distressing. Just a bit of breathlessness, tiredness and some muddling up of words when I’m tired. But the after effects are constantly reducing.

It’s horrible, I know, but try not to panic. I was so ill that I thought I was dying, but I ended up well enough to return to work as soon as my 2-week isolation was up. You’ll get through this too xx

ToastieSnowy · 22/12/2020 06:47

Morning. How’s everyone doing today? Appreciate the thread Fluffy and the reassurance from those who have been through it.

Waking up on day 4 and the backache & kidney pain from yesterday have disappeared. My nose is stuffy so mouth breathing like a trooper, going to see if I can wake the neighbours with my snoring later. Grin

I feel in between cold and flu. Still no temp. No idea about smell as nose is too stuffed up but brain fog is definitely here. Not yet flu as I have enough energy to get up and move but I’m quickly back to bed. Onwards and upwards. Take care everyone.

Newt432 · 22/12/2020 06:56

Morning
@LeFluffyPants this could be me! 37, baby fat hanging on and generally healthy. I’ve had flu before so yesterday night I had started with the typical symptoms of flu.
Headache. Bones aching. I think I had a temperature overnight but I was in a fitful sleep.

I’ve had a test and waiting for results. I only took the test after developing a cough in the morning. Only a slight one.

Symptoms overnight and this morning are: temperature, headache, muscle aches, nausea, slight light headedness.

I have a two year old and he doesn’t seem to have it. @LeFluffyPants how are you this morning? And how are your children?

Mine could just be flu or Covid! Have you had a positive test?

Newt432 · 22/12/2020 06:57

Get well soon @toastiesnowy

ShopoholicIn · 22/12/2020 07:14

Hi @op, how you are feeling ok. I have tested positive and now on day 4.

LeFluffyPants · 22/12/2020 10:18

Morning fellow members of the club no one wants to be in Xmas Wink

How are you all doing this morning? I am finding this the strangest illness. The night was awful for me - shaky, hot and cold, panicky, insomnia - but weirdly I don't feel too bad at all today. Had breakfast with the kids, had a shower, stayed up for a couple of hours. Now back in bed but mainly because I feel tired not really poorly.

I honestly think the worst thing, for me, is the panic about what's going to happen next. I think, if I didn't know this was Covid, I might not be that worried really. And because it comes and goes a lot, I have this horrible fear all the time that it'll get worse at a moment's notice. Anyone relate?

@ShopoholicIn ah so sorry you've got it too. How are you feeling? I think I am also on day 4, or possibly 3, not entirely sure if my symptoms on Saturday were 'it' or not!

@Newt432 so much in common!! And our symptoms sound really similar as well, pretty much identical. How are you doing today? Let us know if you get your results.

I'm still waiting on my positive test, but I had contact with my father in law (he's in our support bubble) who has since tested positive, four-five days before my symptoms started. I am pretty sure he actually coughed right at me - apparently he was convinced it was 'just a cold' so didn't bother mentioning he had a cough or was getting a Covid test, nice. So anyway I'm about as certain as I can be.

DH is absolutely fine, just a bit tired, but to be fair we have two kids under five! And both my little ones (DS2 and DD4) have some very mild symptoms - runny noses, tired etc. We've all had tests and I expect theirs might be positive too as we all had contact with my (complete dickhead of a) FIL!

@NoBloodyHolly such a reassuring post, thank you so much. I think I panic about feeling bad and think that must mean I'm destined to be ill for ages or get a severe case - but of course that's not necessarily true, the majority of people - especially younger and healthy - will basically feel crap for a week or two and then be ok. Thanks too for the heads up about possible lingering symptoms - that sounds annoying but manageable - hope they continue to improve for you!

@ToastieSnowy how are you feeling now? Yes, in between cold and flu sounds right to me. I can also get up for a bit but then want to retreat to bed! The symptoms coming and going is the strangest thing. I'm glad to hear your kidney and back pain have got better, that must be a relief. Are you able to rest up and take it easy today? Not working or anything?

So appreciate being able to check in with others who are going/have been through this, thanks so much all Flowers

ShopoholicIn · 22/12/2020 10:48

@LeFluffyPants hi OP, i have started having lower back ache. Cough seems to have reduced but wasn't much in the first place. Still get chills at night but fever is under control and I can manage with just flue medcine , twice a day. My symptoms started on Saturday but i had been having headache for days before. Though i don't think they would be related. Hope you feel very soonFlowers.
I also have a baby who I am pretty sure has caught it from me, as she had diarrhoea and fever on Sunday night but is better now. Hope you all feel better hun xx

ToastieSnowy · 22/12/2020 11:15

Hi Fluffy, I’m supposed to be on leave but have had to do some work this morning as down on bodies until the new year.

Headache back just now but realised I’m due some more painkillers so those are obviously working. Feeling better than I did when I woke up. Going to move Christmas presents downstairs to the garage while I’ve still got some energy, then I’m having a nana nap Wink

ToastieSnowy · 22/12/2020 11:19

Yes I have the fear I could get worse at a moments notice. Thankfully my BIL&SIL are on standby to travel up the country to pick up my DCs if I do have go to hospital which has helped my anxiety over the situation

Lightsabre · 22/12/2020 11:44

Sorry haven't read the full thread but look up the 'My Lungs' threads on here about people's journey through Covid earlier in the year. Lots of high strength Vit C, Vit D and Zinc and have a pulse oximeter to hand.

LeFluffyPants · 22/12/2020 12:41

Thanks @Lightsabre I’ll check that out. And thanks for those suggestions too, I’ve got all of those I think 👍🏼

OP posts:
ShopoholicIn · 22/12/2020 12:45

@Lightsabre thanks i will check that too.
@ToastieSnowy good to know you have childcare sorted in case needed. I thibk this is the scariest thing if this virus u don't know when it will go downhill but hoping we all are over the worse and it will get better from here. Fingers crossed.. good to have some support here.

Lightsabre · 22/12/2020 13:17

One thing the paramedics said to me that helped, was that they had not taken anyone to hospital post 10 days so I felt 'safer' from that point on.

LeFluffyPants · 22/12/2020 13:20

Hi @ShopoholicIn sorry you’re getting some back ache today, that’s no fun - it sounds like our symptoms are pretty similar otherwise. I’m also managing ok on just paracetamol and the worst times for me are at night feeling all feverish.

Also day 4 (I think!) here too. Just hoping it stays mild for us both now!

So sorry your baby has been poorly now, do they seem better now?

It’s a real comfort talking to others going through this at the same time. X

OP posts:
LeFluffyPants · 22/12/2020 13:22

@Lightsabre that’s so helpful to know about the 10 days, thank you. I’m only day 4 but it’s good to have a kind of date to aim for. And the same day that self isolation ends too hopefully!

Roll on 28th December...

OP posts:
ShopoholicIn · 22/12/2020 14:12

@LeFluffyPants my little one is ok thanks.

@lightsabre good to know, it's 28th December for me too... So looking fittest to get better n most importantly free from the stress that it's not going to get any worse. Fingers crossed.
