Day 2/3 of symptoms and feel so unwell - can anyone handhold?

Hello,

I’m sorry for another 89 millionth covid thread. I’m on either day 2 or 3 since first symptoms started, after I was in close contact with a confirmed positive a few days earlier. I am feeling really scared.

I feel really grim. Nausea, dizziness, shaky, temperature, chills. Can’t really move from bed.

Anyone else early in the illness right now want to connect or hand hold? Or is there perhaps anyone a bit further on who could share a bit about their progression of symptoms?

This just feels really scary as I can’t imagine how much worse it will get.

Think have turned corner. Still fever after 10 days but breathing much better today!

Good luck everyone, especially people having to look after small children while ill.

girlofthenorth · 30/12/2020 13:17

So happy for you @iguanadonna ! Great to be able to say that! Me too actually , feel less icky and chesty- slept for ages though, think that helped. DH out today and has gone back to routine grumpiness so think he's on mend.
@colouringindoors hope you get that headache sorted. How about tiger balm if pills don't work? That helped my DD.

Has anyone else had achey calves ?
Or back ache?

colouringindoors · 30/12/2020 14:04

oh that's good iguana I've only had a very slight fever on one morning. Hope that doesn't mean my body's not fighting 🙁

Sallygoround631 · 30/12/2020 14:35

I mean well, but I think these threads are obsessive and do more harm than good, generally.
they all have a similar tone, and having suffered hypochondria when I was younger, I can 'feel' that sentiment throughout these 'handhold' threads, they attract illness 'ghouls' ...let's be honest.

best of luck to anyone suffering, I hope we all feel better soon.
much better to get off this type of thread .

@girlofthenorth yes, horrendous back ache - I've taken Nurofen every day this week which has really helped. Largely better apart from that (day 9) and even the breathlessness is easing, but the back ache is really stubborn.

And I'm just going to ignore Sally and instead thank those that have posted. DH and I have different symptoms, and I don't know anyone else who has had this, so it's really helpful to reassure myself that other people are in the same position, and that it does get better, despite all the horror stories on the news.

colouringindoors · 30/12/2020 22:02

I'm finding it really helpful as I'm a single parent and don't know many people that have had it - well enough to ask them about it! I have a good friend wuth LongCovid which is scary, plus am very run down so not sure how good my immune system is...

Chunks1376 · 30/12/2020 22:31

If you know when you were exposed how long did it take to get symptoms?

LeFluffyPants · 30/12/2020 22:50

Hi @girlofthenorth @colouringindoors @TheoriginalLEM @ToastieSnowy and everyone, how has today been?

@BookShark @iguanadonna
so pleased to hear you’re feeling better today! I think day 9-10 was a good turning point for me too actually. Now just have to try not to overdo it as we get better!

Thanks for the ‘well meaning’ comment Sally, but I’ve actually found it super helpful and reassuring to have people to share my experience with. I’m not a “hypochondriac” but I’m one of many people going through an unpleasant and new virus that we know can be unpredictable. So it makes complete sense that some of us want company as we go through it.

Thinking of everyone else today. I’ve been feeling mostly ok apart from the tiredness and tight chest. And it was 12 days for me today since symptoms started so I even ventured out for a little stroll! Nice to be out of the house. X

chunks that's really tricky to answer. My dd tested positive on 19 Dec, symptomatic on 18th. So was probably infectious for several days before that. I think I was fighting it off from the 19th, but wasn't symptomatic til 26th (relaxed after Christmas day). Any help?!

Thanks LeFluffy horrendous headache for last 24 hours now. Hope it doesn't stay too long. Good to hear you're gradually recovering.

ToastieSnowy · 31/12/2020 01:25

Hi @LeFluffyPants and @girlofthenorth and everyone. Had a bad couple of days with my guts & kidneys including blood BUT today I woke up comfortable with negligible kidney pain. Still slept all day but I’m hoping this is my first day of recovery rather than another respite.

My lungs are trying to hack up gunk but I’m all for that if it helps.

My friend brought home cooked food for my kids. She’s amazing. Very grateful to her for that as I struggle to shove something easy in the oven.

My youngest got a positive result (day 5 for him) but it has not manifested other than an occasional cough which I’m very grateful for.

ToastieSnowy · 31/12/2020 01:26

So all in all a good day.

ToastieSnowy · 31/12/2020 01:31

Sally I disagree, I’ve found this thread supportive and reassuring. I’m on my own with two kids, no family other than my exBil & sil who live 100s of miles away.

I’ve learnt what “normal” and what’s not for Covid, got myself a pulse oximeter on advice and started taking vitamins c, d & zinc. It’s reassuring when you’re in pain and uncertain. Hope everyone feels better soon x

HairyToity · 31/12/2020 02:58

I'm on day 4. My muscles and joints are painful. Right now the worse thing is a tight painful chest. If it continues tomorrow I might phone 111 for advice. Is it normal?

Iamsodonewith2020 · 31/12/2020 07:05

Hairy. I still have tight chest on day 10

DarlingCoffee · 31/12/2020 07:27

Hi @HairyToity for me it was the muscle pain that was the worst and @girlofthenorth I also had painful achey calves. Hopefully I’m not stating the obvious but the only things that helped me were taking ibuprofen and paracetamol back to back and Epsom salt baths. It’s day 11 for me here and the muscle pain / numbness in my legs is still ongoing although I will attempt a walk today. Sending hugs to you all out there going through this. I have found such comfort in this thread over Christmas as I also don’t have anyone IRL to talk to so thank you all xx

HikeForward · 31/12/2020 07:34

Hope everyone’s ok!

Hairy, yes the tight painful chest is normal unfortunately. I had it until around Day 14. (About Day 17 now? Lost track!) But if it gets worse or the pain changes or if you’re struggling for breath or notice any blue tint to lips/nails definitely call 111. Do you have a pulse oximeter to check your SATS?

Sally that was a erm strange comment! I’ve found this group very helpful. I wish I’d discovered it during the worst part of my illness when I felt so alone and panicky. But I feel like I can help others through it, having been there myself (with a small child) and starting to come out the other side. Covid is scary, nobody is being a hypochondriac. We’re supporting each other. If I can help or comfort even one person who went through what I did, then my presence on this thread has purpose. I’m also a HCP so may be able to share medical knowledge if appropriate.

Anyway, Day 17 (ish) and the worst symptom is crushing fatigue. I also get nauseous and dizzy doing everyday tasks and have been sick a few times. I don’t want to eat and feel worse when I try. Still coughing but it’s productive and intermittent not that dry hacking burning cough of the early days! I find the best thing to do is lie down and rest. I’m not sleeping as much in the day but getting horizontal really seems to help.

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 11:35

hairy do you have an oximeter? worth getting if u can afford, reassuring re chest symptoms.

Headache from hell continues 😫

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 11:44

toastie yr friend sounds fab. So hard with young kids. Thankful mine are teens.

Severity of headache making me worry what this virus is doing to my brain 😲 day 6 and just getting worse. Feeling scared today.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 31/12/2020 13:19

Colouring I am on day 12 of the headache, in fact the headache was my only symptom when I first got tested

HairyToity · 31/12/2020 14:06

I do have an oximeter. Thank you. In the middle of the night it was chest pain, today its my lower back and calves. I can only compare the back pain to child birth. Waiting for the ibuprofen to kick him.

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 14:42

Iamsodonewith oh you poor thing!

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 14:42

hairy god that sounds awful!

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 19:30

Feeling sorry for myself tonight. Also loosing sense of taste now Sad

girlofthenorth · 31/12/2020 22:34

Sorry you're having a hard time @colouringindoors - I lost sense of smell after about a week and it's not come back yet. It's gonna get better soon.
I'm so glad for this thread - it's really helped me . I do have anxiety about health especially around covid and it's not been a walk in the park - and quite frightening at times .
I'm just feeling so tired now - gotta be ok for work Monday ! @HikeForward when are you back at work ? I'm HCP too and can't imagine how that's going to be ok!!
