Day 2/3 of symptoms and feel so unwell - can anyone handhold?

Hello,

I’m sorry for another 89 millionth covid thread. I’m on either day 2 or 3 since first symptoms started, after I was in close contact with a confirmed positive a few days earlier. I am feeling really scared.

I feel really grim. Nausea, dizziness, shaky, temperature, chills. Can’t really move from bed.

Anyone else early in the illness right now want to connect or hand hold? Or is there perhaps anyone a bit further on who could share a bit about their progression of symptoms?

This just feels really scary as I can’t imagine how much worse it will get.

Hi everyone I just wanted to come on to say day 7 for me here and my aches are beginning to subside. I have a feeling of lightheaded ness still and a sniffly nose but am feeling a lot brighter. Wishing every one of you an improvement, I appreciate how lucky I am but nonetheless it’s been a very sobering and terrifying experience.

LeFluffyPants · 27/12/2020 14:19

@ShopoholicIn please don’t apologise for feeling down and negative, I think many of us here relate as it’s just such a horrible and scary time. I am so sorry you’re feeling so low but this absolutely WILL pass and you will get through it. I have also heard many times now that this virus does also really impact many people’s emotional state as well as physical, so this could also be having an impact. It will get better. Keep going, an hour at a time - that’s what’s helped me on my darkest days 💐

@girlofthenorth good to hear you’ve felt a bit more like doing things. Sorry your DH and DC are suffering now too though. God it’s miserable when everyone’s poorly isn’t it? Day 10/11 though, it’s got to be on the up sometime soon!

I find this the strangest virus I’ve ever had. Definitely not the worst but the strangest - yesterday I couldn’t move for the exhaustion and today I am feeling basically normal. The days seem to be alternating between normal and terrible!

So odd. Thinking of you all xx

Hi @fatisnotafeeling the symptoms will be individual to you. It’s such a personal little sod. From talking on others on here I think the only common symptom has been fatigue. You’ll sleep for England. Everything else is a maybe. Cough, fever & loss of smell is common but not guaranteed.

I would watch out for a rash on your little one. My friend says one of her girls got quite a nasty bout of hives, yet the other didn’t. That was the worse symptom for the children though.

ToastieSnowy · 27/12/2020 14:53

Eventually managed to talk to my local hospital via 111 about my kidney pains. She’s given me a reprieve for a couple of days as a “wait and see”, got the impression she didn’t want to put me on the Covid hospital pathway. Me neither. Fingerscrossed it’ll improve the next couple of days.

Totally agreee Fluffy, weirdest virus ever.

Oh I lost my sense of smell on day 8 and I can confirm that crackers taste exactly the same Grin keep safe everyone I hope you all feel better soon.

ToastieSnowy · 27/12/2020 14:55

Test kits have arrived for my two boys. Courier could come at 8am so got to test them at 7am tomorrow. Haven’t broke the news to my 15 year old yet he’ll be horrified haha

rc22 · 27/12/2020 17:09

@ToastieSnowy I had it in June. Between roughly day 7 and 10, I got hives on my arms. There's nothing visible now but still have little bumpy patches on my skin where they were 6 months later!

BookShark · 27/12/2020 21:57

I'm on day 7 and agree with @LeFluffyPants, the symptoms are definitely coming in waves. Yesterday I didn't feel too bad and was congratulating myself on having broken the back of it, today I've been horribly breathless and just spent the day on the sofa as any kind of physical exertion just sets off my cough. Have still got my sense of taste and smell, but it's wasted as I've got no appetite anyway.

And now DH is complaining of feeling achy and shivery, so has gone to bed with a Lemsip and a test booked for tomorrow morning. Just hoping DD doesn't get it as she's got 11+ exams in the first week of January, and I really don't want her to miss them.

Crappy end to a rubbish year really.

SD1978 · 28/12/2020 02:44

Are you able to apply for another test to come with your husbands juts to confirm?

HarryHarryHarry · 28/12/2020 02:53

I had Covid in March. Felt like I was going to die for about 3 weeks. In the end I was so weak and exhausted that I couldn’t stop crying just from the effort of continuing to exist. But then I got better. Months later I still feel sort of rundown but otherwise fine. Hang in there!

BookShark · 28/12/2020 09:40

@SD1978

I could have done, but as DD has no symptoms, a positive result today would mean a 10-day isolation starting from now - in which case she misses her exams. Whereas if she continues with no symptoms, her isolation is up on 1st January.

My assumption is that DD brought it back from school anyway - not based on any evidence, but at I haven't really been anywhere, that seems most likely. So I'm going to cross my fingers that things work out.

Today's symptoms are continued breathlessness and some lower back pain, although I've managed to treat that one with some Nurofen. Just want it to be over!

colouringindoors · 28/12/2020 14:14

Had a test this morning. Would be amazed if its not positive ( dd tested positive day after term ended, ds tested positive yesterday).

Feel rough. Sore throat, slight temp, fatigue, ticky cough, headache.

Really struggling not to panic. Though no underlying conditions I'm not healthy and have had a a v stressful and traumatic 8 years... Have a friend with long covid and it's horrendous. Having to restrain myself from writing letters to kids 🙄

ShopoholicIn · 28/12/2020 14:31

@lefluffyPants thanks so much for your support. I was at one of my lowest the day i wipe my last post n ur very kind words lifted my spirit. Thanks so much. How are you, your DH and DCs doing? Hope feeling better today.

ShopoholicIn · 28/12/2020 15:30

@bookshark really hope your dd hadn't caught the virus n does well in her exams. Such a unnecessary stress at this crucial time. Hope your DH is negative too and your on road to recovery. If god forbade DH is positive and your DD is negative does her isolation date extends to match that of your DH's symptom start date?

ShopoholicIn · 28/12/2020 15:36

@toastiesnowy how's your kidney pain now? I hope reduced if not gone all together.

@colouringindoors I hope you test negative and try not to think about this a lot. It's very tough to do this I know, but worrying about it won't help either. All the best.

colouringindoors · 28/12/2020 15:44

Thanks *shopoholicIn" appreciate it.

LeFluffyPants · 28/12/2020 15:51

@colouringindoors welcome lovely, so sorry to hear you’re feeling so frightened and have some symptoms. I totally understand the panic, I was exactly the same over the first few days - this horrible sense of doom that I would get worse and worse and be terribly sick. Well, that didn’t happen for me, and I’m not especially fit and healthy either!

I also know about 25 people with Covid right now (half of whom were infected by the same person as me, the rest are because I’m in one of the worst hit London boroughs!) and that includes people in their 50s, 60s and 70s. Most people have felt poorly like a bad cold or the flu but not one of them has had to go to hospital or been significantly unwell.

I do hope this helps a bit.

@ShopoholicIn @ToastieSnowy @DarlingCoffee @user34254356 how are you all today?

I’ve gone backwards again, i felt absolutely fine yesterday and today I am completely exhausted- was saying to DH it’s like I’ve taken a big dose of sleeping pills or something as I just can’t move. I don’t understand how it can be so different day by day

DH feels fine just coughing and croaky. He has bad psoriasis and he thinks that means his immune system is extra good at shaking stuff off - think he may be right based on this one!

Hand hold to all xxxx

BookShark · 28/12/2020 15:54

Thanks ShopoholicIn. Given that DH is currently curled up in bed with a hot water bottle, I'm not optimistic for his results - but apparently he was told at least 3 days so no point holding my breath on that one anyway. DD's isolation timeline wouldn't need to restart though -assuming the attached is still correct, it all works from my original start date.

Hope you're feeling better - today has been much better for me, albeit I haven't actually don't anything. But much less coughing, so hopefully starting to turn a corner.

Day 2/3 of symptoms and feel so unwell - can anyone handhold?
DarlingCoffee · 28/12/2020 16:01

@LeFluffyPants thanks for asking after me, I’m sorry to hear you’ve gone backwards. It’s day 8 for me and after feeling clearer headed yesterday the brain fog is back and so are the leg cramps today. Feeling sorry for myself. I had been so careful about not going out and socially distancing and I’m so surprised this has happened to me. Hugs to everyone and hope tomorrow is better for you @LeFluffyPants

colouringindoors · 28/12/2020 16:54

Thanks LeFluffy that does help. If this isn't Covid then not sure what it is! Have you had it for long? Does seem like its very variable day to day. Having a friend with Long Covid hasn't helped with the anxiety!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/12/2020 18:26

Hi everyone - finding it hard to manage my mood with the way this comes and goes. Felt much brighter this morning and then this afternoon my temp is back up, my lungs hurt, I'm so tired again.

I just feel so hopeless about it: I'm a teacher and supposed to be back in the classroom next Tuesday, but I just can't see how I'm going to get to that point.

TheoriginalLEM · 28/12/2020 18:30

Sending socially distanced unmumsnetty hugs to all.

I am just emerging from my covid-hole and whilst its been shit the anxiety was by farthe worst. On day 10 now and doing well, back to work Wednesday as they clearly feel i should be over it by now vHmm

girlofthenorth · 28/12/2020 18:32

Hi all just checking in. @LeFluffyPants sorry you are feeling awful again today. It does feel like one step forward and two back doesn't it ?
My chest is sore today - no other way to describe- just sore at the front- is that from the coughing maybe?
Taking last doses of antibiotics today but my chest is still making a lot of noise. Lots of loose stuff that just won't come up!
Also am out of isolation now and took dog out and went to shop to get a pizza. Now in bed exhausted.
On the plus side DD temp seems to have come down and throat less painful.
Am thoroughly fed up - can't imagine having enough energy to work !
@ShopoholicIn are you feeling a bit brighter?
@ToastieSnowy how are you getting on?
@colouringindoors sorry to hear you are so rough - the exact same thoughts went through my head last week.

colouringindoors · 28/12/2020 18:39

Thanks girlofthenorth xx
This thread is one of the kindest ever x Totally get the feeling fed up. Glad your dd is improving, but take care, don't overdo it.

Theonlylivingboy if you don't feel well enough, don't go back yet. Speak to your GP. Teaching is a demanding job at the best of times.... I really believe that we should listen to our bodies with this virus, and if it needs rest, we should if at all possible, rest.

Hi lem great you're feeling better. But you're the one who knows if you're ready to go back...

TheoriginalLEM · 28/12/2020 18:48

im ok and wont go back unless my covidlegs will carry me. Its more worrying about infecting others for me now.

Hand on in there xx
