Nor any of the other shops unfairly dodging the lockdown closure by claiming they are essential (someone on another thread's, local shoe shop, local branch of Next) etc.

It's bloody ridiculous. The more we are out and about, the more this virus has a chance to keep spreading. Don't click and collect from your local business, place orders online from them or phone up and arrange delivery.

Just stop f**king going out. If you don't HAVE to go out for work, essential shopping - ie food or medicine, just stay at home.

If you don't, don't moan when bloody Boris is on our screens on 2nd December saying the lockdown is extended.

Are you one of those people who got all frothy about others popping out for chocolate and wine in March?

TeddyIsaHe · 05/11/2020 07:46

Did you tell people that they were murderers going out for tampons in the first lockdown?

I will be going out, using my local businesses because a) I don’t want them to go under and b) I’d rather not let my depression as bad as it did last time.

So no. Thanks!

iliketobecosy · 05/11/2020 07:47

Are you going to stand at the entrance of these shops and demand people don't go in? If these shops are open and I want to go, I will go, thanks very much.

FunnyInjury · 05/11/2020 07:47

Meh. You do you hun

Oh do go away! This isn’t North Korea, I’ll go out when I want to buy what I want! I have a 3yr old and soon a newborn, if a trip to the shop relieves some cabin fever I will do so!

pollylocketpickedapocket · 05/11/2020 07:48

Mind your own business!

ivfbeenbusy · 05/11/2020 07:48

The chance of catching it in a shop.....very very low. Chance of economic destruction of the retail sector....very high 🤷‍♀️

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 07:49

We’re not in lockdown because people went to the Range. It won’t be extended because people safely go to shops that have stayed open.

The range isn’t going to ‘go under’

Shoppers won’t stop going shopping this time round. No matter how mumsnet tries to ‘shame’ them. Everyone is under fear of this second lockdown being extended and it’s getting perilously close to Christmas..... so they will go! No point calling people out for it

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 07:50

You’ve reminded me I need some photo frames. I’ll pop in later.

Ta.

iliketobecosy · 05/11/2020 07:50

That reminds me actually, I've got some baubles to buy so the range will be my first port of call 😊

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 07:51

They’ve got some lovely ones in at the moment.
Janaih · 05/11/2020 07:51

You should pop down there OP, pick up a box of grips.

Torri67 · 05/11/2020 07:52

It's four weeks. Not until the end of time. I have depression and anxiety AND I work in a local business so none of that cuts any muster/mustard with me.

I hated lockdown as much as the next person, that's why I don't want this to go on longer than it needs to. If you can't understand why insisting on neeeeeding to go to The Range etc is selfish and stupid then there's no hope for you. The government didn't do this lightly and personally I'd rather the sacrifices small businesses etc are making in shutting and abiding by the rules, isn't in vain.

Shoes are essential though? We need something on our feet?
My dc were utterly stuffed on shoes last time, they had to wear sandals too small...

I don't know feel the odd person going to the range which stocks many essential items, will cause major transmission issues, unlike hundreds of school children mixing everyday.
It does amuse me slightly out and about, when people widely avoid each other but some start to tut if there is a tiny bit of too close exposure, momentarily.. On social media people saying, someone reached across them in the supermarket, or stood to close in a queue.

Every. Single. Day. In schools too close contact is happening all the time, all. Day!!

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 05/11/2020 07:53

Just because you can type a goady, moany, guilt-tripping thread on the internet, doesn't mean you should.

KatherineJaneway · 05/11/2020 07:55

Many people just aren't as scared this time OP. Last time we didn't really know what lockdown would be like, now we do and add to that the cold, bad weather and how early it gets dark. People are going to go shopping. I will. I can't go to the gym, can't go to the office so I will shop for things I need .

Jroseforever · 05/11/2020 07:56

Oh thanks for the head up! I didn’t know The Range was open. Brilliant!

Helenj1977 · 05/11/2020 07:57

I'm going to B and M today. If I don't continue going out my relationship won't last. Dp is wfh and I'm really struggling with him being home all the time. I need my time.

1st lockdown I was the one moaning at people going out. This time I'll do what l need to. Dds are still in school so it's all a bit half assed anyway.

OverTheRainbow88 · 05/11/2020 07:57

What has covid done to people?!!!!!!!

Turned people against each other, feel like they can police each other; tell each other what they is essential to buy.

OP please take a look at yourself and most importantly relax.

secretllama · 05/11/2020 07:58

🤣🤣🤣

Cassie71 · 05/11/2020 07:59

Are Wilkos and Poundland open?

MarcelineMissouri · 05/11/2020 07:59

I’ve lost swimming and gym, going out for meals or to the cinema, my kids have lost their clubs, being able to see their friends out of school.... I’m not going to feel guilty for popping to The Range for a browse wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines!!

PicsInRed · 05/11/2020 07:59

The government didn't do this lightly

They did it both lightly, and in the midst of a panic which resulted in lockdown based on flawed data interpretation and inaccurate projection of future trends. In other words - many of us don't even need to be in lockdown.

Many know this and act accordingly.

If you don't want to go to the Range, don't go. It won't make a blind bit of difference either way.

PurpleHoodie · 05/11/2020 08:01

Uh huh.
