Nor any of the other shops unfairly dodging the lockdown closure by claiming they are essential (someone on another thread's, local shoe shop, local branch of Next) etc.

It's bloody ridiculous. The more we are out and about, the more this virus has a chance to keep spreading. Don't click and collect from your local business, place orders online from them or phone up and arrange delivery.

Just stop f**king going out. If you don't HAVE to go out for work, essential shopping - ie food or medicine, just stay at home.

If you don't, don't moan when bloody Boris is on our screens on 2nd December saying the lockdown is extended.

As frontline NHS, I’m swabbed for COVID weekly, temperature checked twice a day, had positive antibody test, and wear a mask all day, every day... like many people who have to work in these times.

I care for my elderly parents, work full time, live alone, and don’t have a car. I get the shopping I need, for myself and others, when I have a rare day off. I don’t have deliveries, as I can never guarantee I’ll be here to receive them.

I, like the majority, do what I should be doing to stay safe. I’ve had 3 friends inside my house since February, we were meeting outside for a walk once it was allowed.

It’s difficult, as is many people’s lives at the moment, it takes planning. This is me, I’m not on here judging how everyone else is behaving. Quite frankly, last lockdown, Wilko, Savers, the supermarkets, Poundland and so on, saved me a lot of trouble, and were brilliant in their COVID safety. I’m sad that businesses that spent money on screens, and other devices to protect their staff and clients have had to close anyway, not sure that was thought through, but that’s just my opinion.

If it’s open, and I want to go, I will. I won’t be dictating what others should or shouldn’t do, and if the OP wants to stay at home, she can. It leaves more chocolate Advent calendars for the rest of us🙃.

I’d reconsider if you were talking about huge raves or mass indoor gatherings, but I can’t agree with you about The Range. It has nice loos, as well!

GabsAlot · 08/11/2020 13:37

im annoyed tesco have decided to close its upper floor of homware and clothes when other shops are open-dont see the difference really

I think your post was the most sensible post I've heard on here . What are you doing on mumsnet with your common sense? Grin

This Range place....does it sell curtains?

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 15:02

Yes it does

JamesAnderson · 08/11/2020 15:17

I think the big question is, is Trago Mills open?

ancientgran · 08/11/2020 15:20

I think the big question is, is Trago Mills open? God I hope not, if DH finds out he will want to go and life is hard enough without a visit to Trago Mills.

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 15:21

Don't know what that is either

ancientgran · 08/11/2020 15:24

@sorryforswearing Of course not but the Range isn’t the most obvious go to place for plumbing supplies. People are less likely to go for a trip out or stay and browse at a plumbers merchant. A previous poster has described what it is like in these home decor shops. We need to do everything we can to stop crowds gathering for extended periods or this ‘lockdown’ definitely won’t succeed although I doubt it will anyway. Well it is the most obvious place where I live. We used to have a really good hardware shop but it closed in March and hasn't reopened. We don't have a B&Q or anywhere else to buy hardware so my plumber would have had to go to another town and he didn't have time, he fitted me in when he had another job to go to, so he went round the corner, walking distance, and bought the thingamebob he needed. He didn't do any browsing, he didn't have time.

Don't judge people, just because they sell stuff you don't consider essential it doesn't mean it isn't essential to someone else.

Cinders1234 · 08/11/2020 15:28

My local range is actually
My Nearest supermarket as it has an Iceland inside so if I need bread/milk and essentials it’s the nearest place for me. It’s spread out better than actual supermarkets, what’s the problem? Open your eyes OP, people
Popping the range isn’t spreading the virus. Kids at school are the highest carriers, I could walk in supermarkets in head to toe coverings yet there’s more chance
My
Kids will pass me the virus in my own home. Parks are full, fields are full, streets are busy, if people don’t pop to shops and buy bits and bobs now that will leave 3 weeks (if we are out of
Lockdown December 2nd) for people
To do all their xmas shops, everywhere will be ten times busier and harder
To social distance THEN it will be passed quicker.. you do you.

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 15:35

The Range is also the closest place to me that sells plumbing supplies. It used to be homebase and we have no B&Q. Where do you suggest i would go instead?

Dowser · 08/11/2020 17:24

There was some lovely Christmas tat in the range yesterday
Nearly nabbed two white and silver santas for £20 a pop and then I came to my senses

It’s snowmen I collect 😂

Lol I went to the range yesterday. The car park was full. Sorry but am not staying home all day everyday because of lockdown. Life goes on still. I have stuff to get. I am taking all the precautions. If certain stores are open then I'll go to it if I need to. You feel free to stay indoors til the 2nd dec. just don't expect everyone else to follow suit.

Dowser · 09/11/2020 10:12

After three days of grey, foggy, gloomy skies we have some sun.
Now then where can I flock...oops I mean go.

Had a lovely river walk yesterday...as did half of the north east.
Honestly, it’s really time they opened up more places and spread us about a bit.

Dowser · 09/11/2020 10:17

@diamonds4u

I quite agree and if pubs and restaurants that do Sunday lunch had been open, that’s where we would have been.

It’s so ridiculous closing everything now...when rates are dropping and public places have so many safety features installed at great expense to them, which no doubt we will end up paying for again with the increase on goods and services.

RayOfSunshine2013 · 09/11/2020 10:19

I bought an advent calendar and some new knickers yesterday. Call the police

It's on government advice.
maggienolia · 09/11/2020 15:21

Maybe we should go and protest outside The Range?

The whole top floor of my local one looks like santa's grotto!!!

I only nipped upstairs for some lighbulbs, then i got distracted by the mirrors. Debating to pop back on the way home from work tonight.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2020 15:36

We only have one floor in our store, how unfair!
