www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/12/scientist-behind-biontech-pfizer-coronavirus-vaccine-says-it-can-end-pandemic

Love y positive message from the scientist behind the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/11/2020 18:10

This is a good quote:
‘ Pfizer’s expertise with mass-market vaccines and quick action from regulatory authorities helped speed up the development process to 10 months rather than years, Şahin said. “There was practically no waiting time. Imagine you want to get from one end of London to the next and there are traffic jams everywhere. You would need half a day. For our project, the streets were empty.”’

MarshaBradyo · 12/11/2020 18:16

Very nice article. God love scientists like him. Brilliant person / people

TeaInTheGarden · 13/11/2020 00:17

I love this thread, thank you to everyone on here!
I’m over the moon with the vaccine news this week, and have everything crossed for the oxford one, really hoping we can get both going at the same time. How amazing would that be..?!

OrangeBananaFish · 13/11/2020 20:32

I have been following this thread everyday. I noticed this article earlier

R rate is getting lower. Not by much, but still in the right direction

Synairgen (nebulised interferon therapy) is to start phase 3 trials in 20 NHS hospitals www.nihr.ac.uk/news/covid-19-treatment-results-published-in-journal-ahead-of-nihr-supported-phase-3-trial-of-nebulised-interferon-beta/26186

cathyandclare · 14/11/2020 08:33

Good news about the Phase 3 trial, I've been keeping an eye out for that after the promising phase 2 trial. The UK is really leading the way for large scale treatment trials.

wildbarnet · 14/11/2020 08:38

When is the Oxford news out ? X

Jrobhatch29 · 14/11/2020 08:39

Jrobhatch29 · 15/11/2020 05:35

Wow that's a brilliant result

Ninbuscl · 15/11/2020 07:39

Yes I am surprised it’s not been more widely reported. It’s an already tested drug too, so can be used immediately

A third vaccine is to begin trials in the UK.
news.sky.com/story/covid-19-more-uk-clinical-trials-to-begin-in-the-race-for-a-coronavirus-vaccine-12133577

newtothenet · 16/11/2020 12:10

Moderna vaccine results are in - 94% effective!! UK hasn't pre-ordered any of these, I don't think, but the more vaccines that work, the better for a whole host of reasons!

newtothenet · 16/11/2020 12:13

www.bbc.com/news/health-54902908

Link to Moderna news.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 16/11/2020 12:18

Wow - it doesn't look like we've ordered any of that (if I've read the story correctly?) but what great news. I am now feeling anxious/pressure for Oxford/AstraZeneca.....!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/11/2020 12:28

It’s brilliant. Especially for parts of the world where the minus 80 chill chain is just not going to be a realistic proposition.
