Lazy OP, Why do you think?

ChaChaCha2012 · 14/10/2020 15:55

People have had months of mixed messaging, u turns and outright lies. Many thousands do not believe coronavirus to be a big issue, because the messages from covid deniers has been more convincing than that of the government.

I'm not a rule breaker by my nature, but I can see why people are sick of lies and choosing to ignore official messaging. Why follow the science when the government are not, why listen to experts when the Brexiteers told us not to? Said Brexiteers are now our leaders, how does anyone expect them to be taken seriously?

torquewench · 14/10/2020 15:58

Students. Not necessarily from Liverpool.

OverTheRainbow88 · 14/10/2020 15:58

People are getting bored and fed up and maybe they don’t know anyone who’s been ill with covid

Youngatheart00 · 14/10/2020 15:58

I agree with you OP, disgraceful, selfish behaviour. Fines and criminal charges need to be handed out or these lockdowns will never surprises the virus.

Youngatheart00 · 14/10/2020 15:58

Suppress not surprised!

Ohthatsgreat · 14/10/2020 16:00

Funny people playing cricket on the streets of Peckham didn’t come in for the same vitriol

ACautionaryTale · 14/10/2020 16:01

Because a large part of the population would love to just get back to life and crack on.

When interviewed they may say they are for the restrictions or post on social media because the alternative is to be accused of wanting to kill grannies and being heartless

I suspect the fast majority of the non vulnerable couldn't care two hoots about a strangers granny or even a stranger themselves if theirs lives are going to pot.

3littlewords · 14/10/2020 16:01

The all looked young and of student age, id put many of them not actually being scousers

blue25 · 14/10/2020 16:02

Idiots. It’s embarrassing.

Bloomburger · 14/10/2020 16:03

Spray them with smart water and refuse them treatment when they get it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/10/2020 16:04

Nice to se the Guardian doing the job of the Sun and slagging off Liverpool.

Champagne socialist wankers.

feelingverylazytoday · 14/10/2020 16:15

Because they're selfish and antisocial, though it would seem there's always people like chachacha ready to make excuses for them.
I feel bad for the people of Liverpool who have stuck to the rules and made sacrifices. And for the ICU staff, must feel like a kick in the teeth to them.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/10/2020 16:20

Because they're young 🤷‍♀️ and young people never think they're going to get ill or die

And maybe they don't mix with people at risk

ThatsHowItStarts · 14/10/2020 16:26

My son and his 3 housemates are all self isolating and doing uni work online. some students know how to behave. Only 1 of them has had a positive test.

MindYourLanguage · 14/10/2020 16:27

I think its unfair to blame it all on students - the students in my DS halls in Liverpool seem all to be super sensible and are following the rules.

Starfish1021 · 14/10/2020 16:27

There were very similar scenes in Soho in London.

LynetteScavo · 14/10/2020 16:27

Erm, because they know it was their last chance to gout out for a drink for a while and really went for it. It's not really surprising.

Jaxhog · 14/10/2020 16:29

Because they're selfish idiots?

Bbq1 · 14/10/2020 16:29

Bloody sickening and shocking. They may ir may not be from Liverpool. I'm from Liverpool born and bred and myself and all my family, friends, colleagues are disgusted. The worse thing is people thinking all Scousers are like that. WE'RE NOT. It's a minority.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 14/10/2020 16:34

They’re just normal young people acting just like normal young people do and they’re having to pay a much heavier price than older people like me

Keep1984fiction · 14/10/2020 16:36

Because statistics say that one person under 30 has died since August 1st in UK.
Because they have been in lockdown for months at home mostly under the watchful eye of adults.
Because they can

GreyishDays · 14/10/2020 16:36

Because they’re allowed to still?

They should have brought the new rules in straight away.

MaxNormal · 14/10/2020 16:37

Because young people feel invincible.
I behaved very foolishly in the 1990s in a country with a horrible HIV rate, and that was a certain death sentence at the time.
I doubt the risk of a cold would have stopped me.

RubyViolet · 14/10/2020 16:41

Students new to the city, peacocking.
