@IsThisNameTaken

No shortbread here either, but have just got this month's Star Reviewer coupons which was a surprise - wasn't expecting any for a while with lockdown and Christmas. Rather random selection of things - but some sliced truffle and toiletries that I would never normally buy - can't complain about free stuff!
Same. Magnums, coffee, an 18 pa k of rubicon and some treads for the dog.
IsThisNameTaken · 24/11/2020 10:42

@Bubbinsmakesthree it varies massively what they offer you, sometimes it will be just 2 or 3 small items but a couple of years ago I got a Silk Epil Epilator (RRP £179!)

I had a £130 bluetooth Electric toothbrush! Was stunned. A £40 bottle of Tequila was another highlight. I don't drink but it went down well with number one son Grin

I once was given a pair of goose down pillows to review. Another time was a twin sachet of options hot chocolate. Still a welcome gift!

Quarantino · 24/11/2020 12:05

I've also just had the email inviting me to be a star reviewer! Baby snacks, my kids will eat them I'm sure..!

bruffin · 24/11/2020 15:26

Me too but i got roobios tea, washing powder and antibac wipes . Wish i had the pillows dd needs some new ones

Shellingbynight · 24/11/2020 15:38

I too go the star reviewer invitation.

My options were cat food (we do have cats), a fajita kit, ginger ale and cranberry sauce. I'll give a couple of them a go.

Shellingbynight · 24/11/2020 15:40

.... I just tried and the items are out of stock, so that went well.

Madcats · 24/11/2020 17:02

Do you "star reviewers" all have smart passes? Other than order confirmations and receipts I get zero communication from Ocado these days.

TBF I did leave a 2 star review for something last week, but I'm on the lookout for some new pillows.... I USED to be a star reviewer and was generally very complimentary about things unless I had mouldy fruit and veg.

viccat · 24/11/2020 18:03

I've been getting Star Reviewer invitations for a while. I used to leave reviews before and assumed it was based on that.

Never been offered anything of very high value, though, although I got a bottle of pink gin once! Most of the items are just everyday grocery type things - a bottle of soft drinks, some snacks etc. Nice to get freebies of course!

Wisteria1979 · 24/11/2020 18:06

How randomly do they do the star reviewer items? I got posh room fragrance thing, excited about that! Baby stuff that I didn’t pick as no babies around and some fancy crackers that I am looking forward to. And a scourer or similar.
Normally though I get offered at least one item I won’t take as would never try / buy such as baby or pet food. Made my husband try all the fancy toiletries with charcoal though Grin

Fuss · 24/11/2020 18:26

If I get offered things that don’t suit like nappies or baby bottles I’ve taken them and donated them. Probably a bit naughty really.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 24/11/2020 19:40

Second Waitrose order today. One sensible sub and two free gifts/samples.

I think I’ll be gradually be switching more and more of my shopping to Waitrose but will still have to use Ocado for some things.

I’ve never heard of “Star Reviewers”

StanfordPines · 24/11/2020 20:58

I was a Star Reviewer a few years ago. I failed to review some stuff and got booted off.

JuiceyBetty · 25/11/2020 13:13

How does one become a star reviewer? Do you just regularly review things on the site and then they hopefully invite you? I've never left a review before but wondering if I should start...

IsThisNameTaken · 25/11/2020 13:42

I had never reviewed anything before they invited me to be a reviewer - have been customer and smart pass holder forever though and it was about 5 years ago they asked me

Wolfcub · 25/11/2020 14:51

An hour and 15 mins early today and no phone call first

Wisteria1979 · 25/11/2020 18:03

If you review some products regularly I think you then can become a star reviewer- that’s what I was told by a friend anyway and it worked for me. You don’t need to do loads to get on the list.
I now regularly review some stuff, only the really good or really shit stuff though, not everything.
I don’t take stuff I won’t review myself, don’t want to risk forgetting to ask them and then getting booted off the list 😁

BuntysTwinkle · 25/11/2020 20:26

Rub it in why don’t you.

Lol sorry! I didn't get any Toblerones though...

PowerslidePanda · 25/11/2020 21:43

I cancelled my Christmas slot today. I'd booked it as soon as they allowed me to, but they still couldn't offer me anything better than 21 December. And I've been trying to order a turkey ever since, but they all show as out of stock all the time. So I've booked with Sainsburys instead - got a slot of 23 December, delivery charge is covered by my midweek pass, standard minimum spend, and crucially - there's a turkey in my basket.

Ocado Smartpass is up for renewal in a few weeks - I'll be cancelling and upgrading the Sainsburys one to Anytime.

I'm with you Panda, I have my next 2 weekly shops booked and a Christmas slot for 22nd all booked in with Sainsbury. I was tempted by the freebies for super reviewer, but I'd prefer reliable service/app/stock.
Madcats · 26/11/2020 11:00

Tenuously linked, but I have reviewed/product tested a few things for Mumsnet (Deliveroo, an air purifier etc).

My Waitrose delivery this morning had 1 missing item and everything had sensible use-by dates after the weekend, but I did spend 10 minutes yesterday deciding what they could/couldn't sub and with what. I've never figured out whether my little comments are helpful or plain annoying for the picker. I am surprised that Ocado has never tried to automate a simplified version; at the very least a "do not sub" button would be good.

I decided to start getting Christmas bits early this year, to play safe. I just hope DC doesn't spot them up on top of the cupboards.

Fuss · 26/11/2020 12:49

Weekly delivery on time, one missing item which was ironically a review item.

CarryOnWalking · 26/11/2020 13:40

Today’s delivery had one missing item (foil) and liquid ice cream.

Very cheery delivery driver though.

viccat · 26/11/2020 16:06

Cat litter missing for the 3rd of 4th week in a row... thoroughly fed up with their poor stock control on this as it's always in stock for me to order but never turns up. If it was showing unavailable online, at least I could plan better.

Have had to place extra orders from Amazon to make sure I have any at all and it's more expensive there.
