I'm pretty sure we're going to get told we can't see any other households for 2 weeks and a curfew on pubs.

Although a part of me thinks they'll just say no to seeing any other households and leave it at that with no limit. I'm hoping they'll keep the support bubbles though.

Or stick to one other? Or two others? Not sure.

Definitely think it'll be social distancing from people after listening to the scientists today. They won't just close down economy.

It'll be sad for a lot of us with family. I also wonder how they'll police it.

Has it been announced boris is making a speech tomorrow? What time?

BabyLlamaZen · 21/09/2020 15:31

Radio stations keep mentioning it, no timings I can see as of yet.

No going in anyone else’s house.

I can’t see them wanting to ban anything that makes the economy money.

I do wonder if stopping people going in each other’s houses will actually make much of a difference to the infection rates though?!

I think the idea that’s been mooted of a 2 week circuit break isn’t a bad one. Everyone WFH for 2 weeks wherever possible, no non-essential travel, no socialising and no gym/pub/restaurants. I also think schools should close for 2 weeks as otherwise it’s pointless-there’s just too much people mixing caused by schools being open.

Shitfuckoh · 21/09/2020 15:33

I'm in an area under local restrictions. One being we can't meet another household indoors or outdoors.
I can tell you now, since coming in end of last week, it's made no difference what so ever. Not many following it at all in my area.

bizmum1 · 21/09/2020 15:34

I predict ... more lies

GhostTypeEevee · 21/09/2020 15:38

I think it's going to be no mixing of households and a curfew

Hotmilkandhoney · 21/09/2020 15:41

I think it may be ban on households mixing indefinitely, shutting of pubs/restaurants/gyms for 2 weeks... but who knows!

mrshoho · 21/09/2020 15:42

Bad form to give us the medical and science experts lowdown today basically saying unless action is taken we are going to see high admissions and deaths. But then we are left to stew and predict what action needs to be taken. Has there even been an announcement regarding a briefing from Boris?

Hotmilkandhoney · 21/09/2020 15:42

I saw that Boris is making a statement to the commons tomorrow afternoon, after various meetings today and Cobra tomorrow morning.

madasamarchhare · 21/09/2020 15:43

No mixing and a curfew on pubs and restaurants is my guess. The scientists obviously laid the groundwork today ready for him to bumble all over it tomorrow. My guess is a 5pm announcement?

MaverickDanger · 21/09/2020 15:43

Agree with no mixing of households and a 9pm curfew for bars/restaurants. Message to wfh where possible again.

Schools will definitely stay open, they will be the last thing to close again.

JacobReesMogadishu · 21/09/2020 15:44

Whittey said there needs to be a National response. So I predict bringing the whole country in line with local lock down areas. No socialising in each other’s houses, 10pm pub curfew.

QueenOllie · 21/09/2020 15:44

People will just ignore it as they are doing already, or try and find ways to get around it. I don't know what the answer is
I was shielding and work have asked me today if I can go back in Confused when I can WFH perfectly well

Splodgetastic · 21/09/2020 15:44

The first cobra meeting in four months!

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 21/09/2020 15:44

I'm going to a wedding at the weekend, what do you think it means for that?

blue25 · 21/09/2020 15:45

No mixing of households and a curfew on pubs & restaurants.

Letseatgrandma · 21/09/2020 15:46

Is a pub curfew to 9/10pm actually going to make any difference to anything?! It will probably just encourage the people in them to drink more in a shorter time and be more pissed when they leave.

Jourdain11 · 21/09/2020 15:47

The issue with visiting other households is that there's no way to be sure it is "Covid-safe". If you visit a pub, or a restaurant, or a leisure centre, they are supposed to have special measures, enhanced cleaning, etc. If 6 people go round to someone's house, they are probably not following those "business standards", there's no contact tracing, etc. In someone's living room you're less likely to be distanced... it's unavoidable.

I don't think it is nonsensical to prohibit household visits while still allowing people to meet up outside or in public places.

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/09/2020 15:48

I dont see the point in the curfew tbh.

Pubs used to shut at 11 and 10.30 on a sunday.

Its just a cop out to avoid paying the businesses more furlough cos they can stay open.

The preloading at home and going out til close will just shift back to how it used to be. As will the "back to mine " afterwards.

RepeatSwan · 21/09/2020 15:54

I predict it'll be half as tough as it needs to be so that it doesn't have enough impact Angry

BarbaraofSeville · 21/09/2020 15:55

There's a COBR meeting tomorrow morning and the PM is addressing the HoC tomorrow afternoon.

Who knows whether or not there will be a 'podiums' or formal evening broadcast tomorrow. I suppose it depends exactly what they want to say and how accessible they want it to be. A lot of people will claim they had no chance to see what was said at 11 am on a Monday, but with 24 hour news and most people having access to on demand catch up there's not much excuse really.

DGRossetti · 21/09/2020 16:00

have it at Barnard Castle ?
Frazzled13 · 21/09/2020 16:00

The first cobra meeting in four months!

Is that true? It feels like that really shouldn’t be true (but wouldn’t be surprising).

52andblue · 21/09/2020 16:00

I think it will be what I have right now in the NEast
No mixing of households, curfew on pubs etc.
Not very effective against a possible 49,000 cases in a few weeks.
Possibly a 2 week half term ?
