Celebrations, party hats, picnics, hugs, kisses, groups of 10,20 etc crowds squashed in next to river swimming.

My goodness, we are in for quite some second wave.

If lockdown was over, I'd be sitting in a crowded departures lounge in Lisbon right now, which alas I am not. My DH would be returning to his work, which he enjoys, and my children would be returning to school, which they enjoy. We'd be looking forward to seeing friends & family & planning a trip back to my home country soon. As we are doing precisely none of those worthwhile & enjoyable things, I'd politely suggest lockdown is alive & well.

Msmcc1212 · 30/05/2020 20:56

Shit. Sad

Musicforsmorks · 30/05/2020 20:56

All quiet here in NOrth west .nr Wigan at moment.

Musicforsmorks · 30/05/2020 20:57

I don’t live in Wigan but they’re sensible here!

Flowersinthewild · 30/05/2020 20:58

Not where I am it’s not. Everyone still social distancing, neighbours have had no one round and I went out today and passed many parks that were nearly empty. My social media friends don’t seem to be partying either.

Think again the majority are not out.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 30/05/2020 21:02

Reportedly there has been a huge police presence at the riverside behind my estate since about 5pm due to rumours of a huge planned party. So far I've not heard anything and as I'm in the middle I can't see anything either.

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2020 21:02

Not here either.
Even at beach 5 minutes drive from me people are social distancing as being sensible.

WhiteChocTwix · 30/05/2020 21:03

@pontypridd there are some selfish dickheads in this world who clearly don't watch the news. We're staying the fuck home and I'm going to pop round to Mums garden on Tuesday taking my own drinks and Dettol wipes! 😕

Aramox · 30/05/2020 21:04

Not here either (London) . Larger groups but still far apart.

BelleSausage · 30/05/2020 21:05

My village has been heaving for the last two weekends. Last Monday was so packed you couldn’t actually walk into the village and actually give a proper social distance. So we went home.

I know most of the elderly who had been starting to come out to exercise have now stopped because they are so concerned and frightened by the crowds.

And there is nothing open and we have no beach. People are turning up to drink wine and coffee in the sunshine on a strip of grass next to a road. They aren’t even going on walks. And the toilets are shut.

Madness.

Catsmother1 · 30/05/2020 21:05

It was bad here. Groups of 20 kids on the field. Neighbours had bbq with friends, and the friends went in and out the house many times (we have a low fence so they are easily seen).

rainbowlou · 30/05/2020 21:06

I bet some people are wishing they hadn’t gone to Durdle Door today!

Babyroobs · 30/05/2020 21:08

Neighbours down the road all on their front driveway with some kind of gazebo up and about eight - ten people all sat in a circle very close together drinking.

Dadnotamum72 · 30/05/2020 21:09

Like somewhereeast says some things we are unable to do even if we want to so if worst scenario everyone goes outside and virtually gets back to normal what actual effect does that have on the R rate?

I would guess a little but the predominant transmission is made indoors at pubs/ cinemas/ choirs/ partys etc so if it does change infection rates my guess is a little peak which wont change things as they are now but might delay phase 3?

LynetteScavo · 30/05/2020 21:11

My next door neighbour is the most anti-social person ever. He just grunts when you take a parcel round to him, didn't join in our social distancing drive way parties, never gives eye contact....but today he's got a friend round for a BBQ. If he's socialising heaven only knows what friendly people are up to!!!!

Merigoround · 30/05/2020 21:11

Our neighbours havent had a lockdown at all but have continued to have people round every weekend and often during the week since they arent working.
But they celebrated today by having more people round for a day long party with kids paddling pool and hot tub both out.

They keep the music down a bit now ever since the police came round in week 3

HeddaGarbled · 30/05/2020 21:13

No change here, apart from neighbours had family in the garden for a couple of hours. Streets still quiet, people giving each other space, controlled shop entry etc. South East, not a tourist destination.

Chilver · 30/05/2020 21:13

Heaving in our local park and along river here. People socially distancing sitting apart but walkers and cyclist everywhere.

RedToothBrush · 30/05/2020 21:16

No gatherings of more than 2 people until Monday...

...except if you were here, it appears:

GoldenOmber · 30/05/2020 21:17

Seems pretty quiet here. Saw some pictures on Twitter of our nearest beach with a lot of sunbathers, but despite all the furious about how this is definitely going to cause the second wave it looked like small groups all sat about 20ft apart from each other which is fine.

MadameMarie · 30/05/2020 21:18

It was over weeks ago when the nation indulged in street parties and congas for VE day.

daisymay133 · 30/05/2020 21:18

I’m near Wigan and it’s been busy everywhere! All local canal sides and beaches are packed

But they were two weeks ago and cases still reducing so I don’t think they’ll be a second wave

People have to be infected to pass it on and community infection is very very low currently

Sunshinegirl82 · 30/05/2020 21:21

There were copious threads that said pretty much exactly the same thing on VE Day and so far the anticipated rise in cases has failed to materialise.

All much the same here as before the changes were announced, few people in gardens but nothing that seemed very concerning.

Samtsirch · 30/05/2020 21:22

The only party happening round here was the bloody hedgehogs shagging all night in the front garden last night. I was tempted to get the garden hose out !

stuckindoors77 · 30/05/2020 21:22

Not here, I went in a petrol station and a garden centre. Quiet, people following the rules, lots of social distancing. People looking forward to their groups of six.
