Celebrations, party hats, picnics, hugs, kisses, groups of 10,20 etc crowds squashed in next to river swimming.

My goodness, we are in for quite some second wave.

I'm in scotland. Lots of groups in the park, presumably from different households given the way they're greeting each other with hugs and kisses like theyve not seen each other in 10 weeks.

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:45

We ended up on the M5 today (house move!), it was quieter than I've seen it in ages.

ListeningQuietly · 30/05/2020 21:47

All photos taken with telephotos lenses are suspect
look at the grass
the twitter video of Clapham common .... each group was distanced from the next
it was in the open air
on grass
on a sunny day
so risk was minimal to all

Spacepocket · 30/05/2020 21:48

Why are deaths rates not dropping dramatically? Is that anything to do with the VE day madness? Surely the death rates should be much lower now? They’re still similar to what they were 10 days ago.

PeanuttyButter · 30/05/2020 21:51

Madness here in St Helens

Echobelly · 30/05/2020 21:52

I look at a lot of the photos of 'OMG look at these people in the park/beach' and see people spaced out perfectly sensibly. In a few of them there are one or two groups together that look like more than one household, but most seem to be separated and if they are outdoors and 2m apart they are not at high risk of catching anything. Still, I wouldn't be heading for anywhere that would obviously busy, if only for reasons of toilets, tidiness and basic consideration for locals.

I think among my friends, perhaps unsurprisingly, those with health concerns are the one most likely to be expressed that everywhere around them is packed and dangerous, and you can't blame them for feeling worried, but it's also not an objective view of the situation.

Not every lockdown lowering is of equal risk - eg, allowing people to meet outside isn't the same as opening places where people are packed together indoors for hours. But I think a careless minority is not helping nonetheless.

Sunshinegirl82 · 30/05/2020 21:53

@Spacepocket

The deaths announced are those reported on a particular day. The actual deaths may have occurred several weeks ago.

TimeWastingButFun · 30/05/2020 21:54

Not till Monday here, can't wait! looking forward to seeing my brother and sister :-)

Lovemusic33 · 30/05/2020 21:55

Roads are busy here, I can no longer go for a walk and walk in the middle of the road without getting run over.

I’m in oh try which is all over the news this evening due to some idiots almost killing themselves by leaping off a rock. Beaches are packed

I’m scared that cases here are increasing due to people travelling here and people not socially distancing.

PuntoEBasta · 30/05/2020 21:56

The parks around here might have been busy but I couldn’t tell you because I didn’t go to them. How is everyone such an authority on how stupid everyone else is?

We do overlook the village green and that was no busier than any other day in the lockdown: a few solo joggers and dog walkers, and a few family groups having a kickabout.

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:57

I can't wait to go to the beach but our nearest beach to our new house is over the border in Wales so it'll have to wait Sad but I have no intention of going even if we were in Wales ourselves.

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:58

Because we see the pictures on the news/on Twitter when it's things like Durdle Door. The police etc do take photos.
Babamamananarama · 30/05/2020 21:59

Central Southwark here; it's carnage outside. Huge groups of people in the park drinking/eating together, parties in people's houses. It's really really concerning - our infection rate is going to shoot up I reckon.

LittlePeepoToy · 30/05/2020 22:00

That was VE Day round - YMCA and Conga absolutely crazy. For my neighbours lockdown was a suggestion rather than anything else 😠

Musicforsmorks · 30/05/2020 22:01

In tourist areas I’m less worried about groups outdoors or camping - and more worried about queues in local, small supermarkets.

I live in south lakes, and I really don’t think 2nd home Owners are the issue at all. Day tippers leaving rubbish about and roads crammed so that emergency vehicles can’t pass are actually a concern.

Self catering and second homes are just not a worry to anyone.
I think people just like to blame them, yet those are Probably same people who Are on endless day trips.

Oh fuck this iPad keyboard.

waitingforadulthood · 30/05/2020 22:02

@Pontypridd- presuming you are where your name is- the worst bit is that in Wales we are still very much in lockdown and not getting out for at least another three weeks! Coupled with the fact that we are in the area of highest covid cases in the U.K (Pontypridd is in Rhondda Cynon Taff county) I honestly despair.

ProtectAll · 30/05/2020 22:02

No all ok and quiet in my street and surrounding houses. Popped out this afternoon in the car to my DSis and had about a 30 minute conversation on the doorstep and their was no activity on her street or surroundings roads either.
Traffic was light.

Drivingdownthe101 · 30/05/2020 22:03

Still quiet where I am (East Midlands). Went to a country park and it was busy but everyone was respectful and maintaining appropriate distance. Lovely to see people enjoying themselves again, entirely within the rules.

Onceuponatimethen · 30/05/2020 22:06

We’re in England and there were groups of ten or 20 at the local nature reserve today. It’s going to end in tears

Greatblue0wl · 30/05/2020 22:07

I have read the land owners of the car park at Durdle Door charged £9.50 per car to park for the day. Perhaps they need to partly responsible to limit the numbers of visitors.

HairyFloppins · 30/05/2020 22:20

Not too bad here. Most people around us in gardens. Over the back have got people in. Look like parents. Put their big coats on now got a bit chilly this evening.

My DD was out of late work for the first week ever since lockdown. Her store was packed today.

pontypridd · 30/05/2020 22:25

I live in London. We went to a green part by a river that has been busy throughout lockdown to be fair. But nothing, nothing like this.

Today it was like a festival had hit the area - I've never ever seen anything like it before lockdown, let alone now. Large groups of 20 - 30 year olds. Children's parties with full picnic tables of party food. People kissing/hugging. Over 100 people huddled together next to the river bank.

It was madness - all things considered.

OP posts:
Janleverton · 30/05/2020 22:26

Really quiet still here. SE London. Families in separate groups in the park, or folk in distanced groups of two. Roads a bit busier than they have been but nowhere near “normal.”

FeelinFagin · 30/05/2020 22:27

Nothing but BBQs and parties here. Friday was our first day with slightly relaxed lockdown rules and you'd have thought it meant Coronavirus is cured.

I'm staying in. I don't fancy catching it and I have a feeling it'll hit the town hard at some point.

ListeningQuietly · 30/05/2020 22:31

GreatBlue
The car park at Lulworth ALWAYS charges that
it is not the landowners fault that three wazzocks jumped off the cliff
and the pictures I've seen - most groups were sensibly spaced

so much hysteria
