New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

Burning skin (not actually hot or red but feeling like it had a ton of deep heat applied to it) has been one of my biggest symptoms @godhelpusall. It shifts all over my body too - initially just my shoulders and back, now more forearms, legs mouth and nose. And my lungs, of course. Think it's a side effect of my immune system fighting the virus.

WorriesomeDad · 30/04/2020 17:05

I’m alright @SimpleKindofLife @Moodgie. Sleeping better the past three nights. Mild sob and tight chest through the day but not as uncomfortable as it was. Hope I’m on the home stretch but definitely braced for another wave!

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 17:09

Fingers crossed for you @WorriesomeDad

I'm about to try eating some dinner soon -sitting at the table! I'm hungry and feeling slightly more human so hoping I can sit down to dinner like a normal person tonight... 🤞

Something that'll hopefully make you all smile, when I first joined these lungs threads, I thought things like "Mild sob" was having a little cry and I was nodding along thinking the same! Blush

Great to hear @WorriesomeDad!

toothfairy73 · 30/04/2020 17:36

@SimpleKindofLife yes sitting up at a table eating will be a huge milestone xxx

emoojoo · 30/04/2020 17:49

@godhelpusall I have exactly that hot leg thing too - mainly in both my calves and the tops of my feet. Very weird (day 40)

fedupofbed · 30/04/2020 17:52

No answers but as time goes on there is more awareness. Shame just not much in the UK yet!

Have we seen the results of our survey yet? I know we don't know where we picked up the virus but I wonder if the results support this tbh I assumed I picked it up at school.

isitorisntit · 30/04/2020 18:08

Also, has anyone felt awful heartburn withing 30 mins of starting Doxycilin? I'm not one for heartburn normally.

Moodgie · 30/04/2020 18:11

@isitorisntit I assume I picked it up at school. The only places I have been to were supermarkets.
Actually, the only other place was the NEC in Birmingham at a concert, 28th Feb, exactly a week before my symptoms. No one else in my group fell ill. I was in a seated row so not really in close contact with anyone but I used a toilet there which could be where I picked it. Washed my hands obviously but it could still be on my handbag or clothes.

isitorisntit · 30/04/2020 18:11

@mumlurker yes at the constricted throat. Woke up week 5 day 2 3am with what felt like lump/blockage in throat. Could not clear it. Fell asleep 6am with a throat lozenge (took my mind off it).

Khaleesimother · 30/04/2020 18:13

@godhelpusall the feeling of a burning patch of heat on the back of leg started yesterday with me (no redness) the same today too. As well as this I have the odd sensation that I'm wearing a tight fitting hat and last night my body felt fizzy 😥

mumlurker · 30/04/2020 18:13

Can anyone with a history/knowledge of blood clots help me out? I'm quite prone to cramp in my calf muscles, particularly right leg. I get it when my period is due, for example.

I've had really bad cramp on and off for weeks now. Worse at night, do get it in the day time too though. My impulse is to stretch the leg when I'm lying down at night. Circulation isn't great at the best of times and I can hardly do any exercise, beyond shuffling about the flat at the moment so can't do much to alleviate it. It does feel like movement alleviates it a bit but not entirely. Getting really paranoid about clots so any reassurance welcome!

Kitcat122 · 30/04/2020 18:17

Interesting article @fedupofbed. It makes me feel alot better that we are not alone but still nervous about full recovery. I am better but still stuck with chest pain and sob. Can't walk fast or up hill and have been stuck at this point for weeks.

Rosesofeyam · 30/04/2020 18:37

Day 43
Today has been an okay day.
Chesty and wheezy, but that's my asthma and the weather.
Still pain in the chest area and SOB,palpitations . Not too bad when sitting. Worse when doing anything for more than ten minutes. I have to sit down, wait half an hour then carry on for another ten minutes. It's very frustrating. Angry

I don't feel so foggy. Still getting tired, but staying up all day and not dozing in the afternoon.

Wishing everyone well. Flowers

isitorisntit · 30/04/2020 18:38

The link doesn't work @fedupofbed

CanIdoItLater · 30/04/2020 18:39

@mumlurker I'm really concerned about clots too. I was getting a cramp feeling in my right calf that wasn't the slightest bit alleviated by massage etc. affecting my sleep. The doctor in the hospital was initially concerned as it's visibly bigger than my left calf but he said that unless it had a red hot patch it was nothing to worry about. I had a positive D-Dimmer test & thinners for a few days but the subsequent CT scan didn't find it in my lungs. I asked if there could still be a clot somewhere in my body but he was dismissive. This was nearly 6 weeks ago and a lot less was known about the virus and today I read this article..

Doctors find blood clots in the lungs of coronavirus patients https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8273609/Coronavirus-deadly-blood-clots-Irish-doctors-hundreds-small-blockages-lungs.html?ito=nativesharee_article-top

Egghead68 · 30/04/2020 18:58

Glad you are having a better day @WorriesomeDad.

Thanks for the articles everyone.

mumlurker · 30/04/2020 18:59

@CanIdoItLater

Scary stuff. I don't feel like any of the doctors I've spoken to are particularly aware of this. Did you go to the hospital specifically because of your leg?

Egghead68 · 30/04/2020 19:01

Sounds like good progress @SimpleKindofLife and @Gunner30.

CanIdoItLater · 30/04/2020 19:12

@mumlurker no, I was admitted due to breathing problems and pleuritic chest pains, cough, fever, confusion, high heart rate & blood pressure. Doc noticed my leg was larger than the other. I was told the D-dimmer was to rule out pulmonary embolism but it came back positive so they did a CT scan but that was fine. They said maybe the D-Dimmer was elevated due to the virus but I felt really fobbed off by that and upon discharge they admitted they knew very little about the virus.

toothfairy73 · 30/04/2020 19:31

No results so far; got another night in hospital

Egghead68 · 30/04/2020 19:36

Flowers @toothfairy73.

Moominmamma33 · 30/04/2020 19:46

Hi all, for the person who asked about the survey I posted some initial observations on the last thread. Anyone else, please don't complete it now as it's full once we hit 40 respondents. Had full on days caring for my two little ones so haven't had time to do any more on it yet but will post an update when I can if analysis reveals anything else potentially interesting. Also intending to write another survey investigating exercise levels in more detail at some point. For same busy-ness reasons I've not been keeping up with the thread very well today I'm afraid. Been pondering and slightly stressing about whether I've had/have mild myocarditis after the updates yesterday on here, as it fits with my symptoms, and with the breathlessness and fatigue only starting after I'd had Covid for over two weeks (when I tried to get back to regular running), and it apparently often affects people after viruses, and especially those who did regular exercise.

Generally my symptoms continue to improve gradually now, have lost track of days but around 40 I think. Even managed a 30 minute (slow) walk whilst toddler-wearing. Hope I didn't overdo it especially if there's a chance of myocarditis.
