😍😍😍😍 I hope other airlines follow soon, unfortunately wizz don't travel to where I need to go - not that their borders are open yet anyway but I wanna be prepared so I can be on the first possible flight!

Klaudia14 · 25/04/2020 14:33

They fly where I want but I'm booked with Ryanair.. not until August so fingers crossed . It's just nice to see some hopeful news instead of all the gloom

Definitely, thanks for sharing - I feel a bit more positive knowing that 😍

Itisasecret · 25/04/2020 15:26

They can do what they like. No good if no where is open for business/tourist spots closed and countries make us quarantine (that is highly likely with our stats).

The flip side of this it the possibility companies force people to take their holidays and then they can’t do anything and have to stay in quarantine. That happened to a family I know just before we ‘locked down’. Plane was going, told holiday as normal, no refund. They arrived to be told they were not to leave the hotel for the 14 days they were there...didn’t qualify for a refund as the ‘flight went’.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/04/2020 15:28

I bet the Spanish and Portuguese will be delighted. I'm sure the locals will give a very warm welcome to tourists arriving from the country with the highest Covid death rate. Or will they?

Delatron · 25/04/2020 15:57

I doubt they’ll let us in though. And if they do your whole holiday will be in quarantine.

PineappleDanish · 25/04/2020 15:58

DH works in the aviation sector. This is good news indeed.

Emcont · 25/04/2020 16:08

Sadly I don't think anyone is going anywhere now until autumn at the very earliest.

Klaudia14 · 25/04/2020 16:14

A lot of people will be flying to see family. I can only hope that Spain and Portugal will start reopening hotels and some leisure places to boost their economy but only time will tell. Life needs to resume to some normality...

Are you all on glue?

Emcont · 25/04/2020 16:19

Spain aren't opening anything until at least August.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/04/2020 16:20

Yes Delatron Few places will want us. Which is understandable. Why would they want to import mass infections? I doubt that will go down well with, for example the Spanish, who've gone through a far stricter lockdown than us. They won't want to have done that for nothing. Whether a few hotels open or not I'd expect a similar welcome awaits to the one UK rurals have been giving people from the cities. A very hostile one.

PotteringAlong · 25/04/2020 16:21

The cynic in me thinks they are resuming flights because it’s cheaper to fly them empty than to refund everyone’s holidays.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/04/2020 16:22

Could be more freight too?

thejollygargler · 25/04/2020 16:25

We have friends who are currently stuck in Spain.

One person can go to the nearest supermarket to get food, otherwise you cannot be more than 50m from your door.

No exercising, no picnics, no driving to a nice park. Massive fines for breaking the rules.

All the bars and restaurants are shut.

I expect you will all have a lovely time Hmm

Kingcole · 25/04/2020 16:26

Are you all on glu?

This ^^

I despair with Brits sometimes. How is this in anyway good news ffs!!

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 25/04/2020 16:28

Some of you have been drinking the dettol.
WizzAir would do better refunding my son the £900 they owe him for cancelled flights rather than putting staff at risk.

PineappleDanish · 25/04/2020 16:28

How is this in anyway good news ffs!

Because some of us have to pay our mortgage, ffs? Because other countries which are a few weeks ahead of us have reached the stage of being ready to start travel again ffs? because the constant WE'RE ALLL GOING TO DIE rhetoric is getting boring, ffs? Hmm

Delatron · 25/04/2020 16:29

Considering how lax we have been with quarantine I predict the U.K. will be a big tourist hotspot over summer/autumn! But no we won’t be flying anywhere as other countries, quite rightly, have stricter entry and quarantine policies than we do...

Thighmageddon · 25/04/2020 16:30

Spain aren't going to just open the gates and say "welcome Brits please do come in".

You'd have to be bonkers to think they'll let you in without quarantining for 14 days.

Cervois · 25/04/2020 16:32

It would be good news for us. My Mum needs to go to Spain, her sister lived there and passed away from coronavirus. It’s a mess and needs sorting! She’s going mad trying to deal with it from here.

Kingcole · 25/04/2020 16:32

@PineappleDanish

We should lift restrictions slowly not be whizzing off around the world. Cheap air travel is the reason we have this mess anyway.

Iamclearlyamug · 25/04/2020 16:32

Because some of us have people abroad that we're desperate to see? Not all of us want sangria and a suntan ffs, some of us don't care if all the bars and restaurants will be closed, some of us just want to see the people we love - is that so hard to understand?!

Cervois · 25/04/2020 16:33

Mum also has a house there close to where my Aunties was/is(?) and can quarantine there so yes for some people it really is good news
