@MyBlueMoonbeam

Quite right. You’ve reminded me that there’s nothing stopping people being dicks.
Awesome job.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 26/04/2020 15:46

@DBML

Rude - and against guidelines 🙄

Schuyler · 26/04/2020 18:45

@DBML

It’s not against the guidelines to suggest someone is deluded. I (kindly, of course) told my friend she’s being delusional if she thinks her early July cruise will go ahead. I wouldn’t call her a dick though. That’s rude.

Itisasecret · 26/04/2020 19:02

If we can’t open schools, there is no way they are packing everyone into a tin can in the sky to go and spread some germs any time soon.

MarshaBradyo · 26/04/2020 19:12

On flying in general

There’s still non-entry issues, eg to US from U.K., which would have to be lifted. Trump might want tourists but he’s been pretty strong on stopping countries with high infection rate to come in.

DBML · 26/04/2020 19:22

@Schuyler

And you told her that when you actually don’t know? How is that nice or friendly?

Don’t get me wrong, I am fully expecting my summer holiday to be cancelled and it isn’t a huge issue. But it’s just the gall of people who almost tale delight in telling others that something they’ve worked for and been excited about, is over...when again I reiterate...you don’t know that.

And as for the delusional bit...well I suppose one would be delusional if they thought they were going on holiday tomorrow. BUT 12 weeks; 20 weeks; 30 weeks can change a lot...

And what’s the magical difference between say a December 2020 vacation and a January 2021 vacation in terms of the virus? There is none.

I've had a flight to Ireland for my mums birthday since Jan. My brother sent me a photo this afternoon of a notice in the paper to say anyone flying in will need to isolate in a room with a window for 14 day, cant use taxis or public transport and cant interate with anyone during the 14 days. Groceries can be delivered/dropped off. You need to proivide an address where you will stay on arrival, and can be checked on by the police.
I would imagine this will be the situation in much of europe for the foreseeable future.

BackInTime · 26/04/2020 20:04

Not too long ago there were lots of posts on MN from people that were determined to go ahead with their Easter holidays abroad. A lot can change this is an evolving situation.

Babbas · 27/04/2020 08:40

My neighbour works in aviation and he thinks the industry it's hearing up to restart flying. Yes, there'll be some controls and restrictions but overall he thinks flights will resume to some places by summer.

notimagain · 27/04/2020 12:07

Another person who works,( or possibly used to work might be more appropriate..) in aviation thinks all airlines are hoping for a restart maybe from June/July onwards but it will be very very limited schedules initially and a lot will depend on entry restrictions around Europe and the rest of the world..

It's anybodies guess ATM.

Update from Spain this morning. State of alarm to continue until end of May (at least) That means proper lockdown is continuing. People may be allowed out for a very limited walk though, once a day.

So... definitely no tourists (if anyone was still in doubt about this)

President also blaming tourists as part of the huge rise and spread of infection at the time of lockdown (in case anyone still in doubt about Spain being keen to let tourists back anytime soon)

MarshaBradyo · 27/04/2020 12:37

Billie yep. I doubt the hard hit countries will welcome tourists for a while. And those not hard hit such as Aus and NZ will be very careful and use quarantine.

ToffeeYoghurt · 27/04/2020 17:51

And when Spain (and NZ and Australia) start to accept tourists again, we're going to be one of the last countries in the world allowed in. Particularly if we end our (not full) lockdown too early.
