Am I missing something? Everyone seems to have gone back to normal?!

So much traffic here today, we live on a main road and it's been quiet for weeks now but today it's suddenly back to how it was pre lockdown.
Loads of people out on the streets, in quite big groups, a massive load of runners in a group just gone by and earlier a huge group of cyclists
And I've not been watching out particularly we our living room looks out over the road and I've been stuck under DS with the windows open and just looked up when I've heard noise.
Do you think people have had enough and just gone back to normal after all the media articles this week?
Did I miss an announcement? Not being disingenuous honestly wondering, I can't find anything online

I live on the edge of a very small market town which is popular with tourists. It’s been empty apart from locals going to the food shops, but a friend told me today the car park is rammed.

This is a local shop for local people.

pontypridd · 25/04/2020 22:51

I don't blame people for giving up, for so many reasons.

I blame the government for having lost control of this. They've tanked our economy for what?

There will have been no point in having the lock down, as the virus will begin to spread and surge again.

I live rurally and traffic has definately increased on my early drive to work .And our two local towns have been really busy last few days , families in cars .Not just me that's noticed either .I am sure it is this oh it won't get here well it has people have died locally .It is like people view it as a paid holiday. I just give up the stress it causes me and my fellow carers .

Aberforthsgoat · 26/04/2020 00:01

I'm in SE. I didn't see the other threads apologies but coronavirus category is the same as AIBU used to be, so fast moving I can't keep up with it. Nothing came up when I searched.

I agree with Toffee that this thread and many like it are probably FROM the govt in the first place wink we are a well known testing site for public opinion

As do Labour. This site is packed full of Labour bots

NaturalBornWoman · 26/04/2020 09:33

Frompcat I worded my post badly I didn’t mean the shop car park; the town car park was full like a normal summer day whereas initially during the lock down it was virtually empty as there were no visitors.

Aberforthsgoat · 26/04/2020 10:04

@Letsdrinkgin @ToffeeYoghurt that really wasn't my intention and I don't want to encourage anyone to break lockdown
I'll ask for this thread to be removed as that is the last thing i want especially as someone who is currently shielding

Aberforthsgoat

I wouldn't bother having it removed, there are literally hundreds of these threads. If you'd looked under the Corona Virus chat you'd have been trampled by them, I wouldn't worry tbh Smile

cyclingmad · 26/04/2020 15:19

My mental health is affected this week, really bad mood. I'm out cycling alot instead so go out for a 2 or 3 hr ride, the change of scenery has done wonders. Also I've stopped giving a fuck what my neighbours or anyone thinks if I leave my house.

PilatesPeach · 26/04/2020 15:21

Just went out for a walk. Not loads of people walking (although lots of adults cycling on the pavement) but a few more cars yes and most seemed to have at least 2 people in them or a family - where are they all going? Nothing is open and there is no big park round here.

Aberforthsgoat · 26/04/2020 15:40

Thanks somanythings didn't occur to me it could be taken that way!

Boris is back at work tomorrow.. so hopefully clarity shall be probably be top of top of the agenda. Spain have let the children out today, with figures dropping!! 💙

Jimdandy · 26/04/2020 17:50

I agree @Noname99 it was never about not actually catching it was ability slowing the spread.

Taliya · 26/04/2020 17:51

I live in a seaside town and yes, a couple of days ago when I went for half an hour exercise along the beach there were families having picncs, groups sunbathing , buskers, loads of kids running around basically loads of people not social distancing. I would imagine the infection numbers will start going up again .....then more strict lockdown...I hope not , but some people are so stupid and don't listen to what the government are saying, which will mean this is going to drag on and on.

notreallydumb · 26/04/2020 17:54

DH has never complied with the lockdown he is a key worker and has said traffic etc has increased all week. We might as well re open shops and have people ensuring social distancing takes place similar to the supermarkets. Lets get some normality back into our lives and accept Covid is not going away lets learn to live with it

happilybemused · 26/04/2020 17:55

Elderly vulnerable neighbours had a drinks party Friday night.

Today they popped down the road for Sunday lunch with friends.

I despair 😩

Loverofoldfilms · 26/04/2020 18:00

Where we live, thankfully, people respect the lockdown. Let's see how we have another spike then of hospital admissions in 2-3 weeks. How selfish and stupid some people are. I have come through COVID, my lungs still hurt, most likely damaged forever.

alliecader · 26/04/2020 18:00

Last night I could hear a big party going on in my neighbourhood, complete with DJ. Could hear lots of clapping and singing in unison. As if there'd never been a lockdown. It is weird. As if there's been a big government announcement but I missed it.

snoopiij · 26/04/2020 18:01

same here in west yorks, I walked my 6 dogs and there were loads of people out some crossed over to fuss my dogs, no way!! I crossed away from them, never seen so many people jogging since lock down was announced! crazy don't people realise how bad this virus is?

Loverofoldfilms · 26/04/2020 18:01

Spain have let the children out today, with figures dropping!!

For one hour a day with great restrictions.

Loverofoldfilms · 26/04/2020 18:06

*I don't blame people for giving up, for so many reasons.

I blame the government for having lost control of this. They've tanked our economy for what?*

Over 20000 people have died in hospitals - not counting people dying in the community or care homes. Do you want this to be 10000? How is the NHS going to cope with people having lung damage from COVID? At the moment, my GP refuses to even talk on the phone if it's about ongoing COVID symptoms. You just get pointed to NHS 111 who point you to the GP. Who has not had it, has no idea how awful it can be. Do not go out if you don't have to.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 26/04/2020 18:14

I live near a seaside town and compared it a normal hot sunday it was quiet At the front

GabsAlot · 26/04/2020 18:32

segment on the news of people complaining they cant drive to wimbledon common because theres parking srestrictions

this is where it ha got mixed messages-police saying you can drive somewhere councils saying no but surely if they relax restrictions it will just put us right back to the start where people went out everywhere they could for their daily exercise

Bruxxie111 · 26/04/2020 18:54

you can bet that the great majority of those who are out and about are in the younger age groups i.e. under 45 as they still think they are bulletproof and invisible. If they get Covid 19, it's likely to be unpleasant but they'll probably pull through. Only problem is that they could infect people like me in my mid 70's with health issues so I might as well just go straight to the crematorium as I've no chance if I get it. And telling me to stay at home when I have to go out once a week to the pharmacy and supermarket (all the delivery slots are taken) just can't be done.

Stellamboscha · 26/04/2020 18:59

Yeah, here people are deciding for themselves what is reasonable. 'Lockdown' is de facto over.
