Am I missing something? Everyone seems to have gone back to normal?!

So much traffic here today, we live on a main road and it's been quiet for weeks now but today it's suddenly back to how it was pre lockdown.
Loads of people out on the streets, in quite big groups, a massive load of runners in a group just gone by and earlier a huge group of cyclists
And I've not been watching out particularly we our living room looks out over the road and I've been stuck under DS with the windows open and just looked up when I've heard noise.
Do you think people have had enough and just gone back to normal after all the media articles this week?
Did I miss an announcement? Not being disingenuous honestly wondering, I can't find anything online

There was never a lockdown in Tottenham, Tottenham wasnt included in lockdown rules!! Nothing changed at all people still bustling about, not listening doing what they want! unfortunately quite a lot of the human race are fucking morons!! Envy(not envy)

Taxanimal · 26/04/2020 19:25

Hi, don’t know about other companies but Taylor Wimpey aren’t back to normal. Sites are opening with serious distancing arrangements but sales and all other staff are still working at home or on furlough. Sorry to butt in!

Boysgrownbutstillathome · 26/04/2020 19:38

Nope, still very quiet here. People just out food shopping or exercising and observing social distancing. Hardly any traffic. Makes me angry to hear of people in other places not observing the rules.

happilybemused · 26/04/2020 19:47

@Briuxie111 absolutely opposite here.

My elderly vulnerable next door neighbours had a drinks party Friday night and then went for Sunday lunch at a neighbours.

Opposite elderly vulnerable neighbours had the extended family over for a BBQ because they'd rather die.

My teenage children remain indoors and are probably going to mess up their education/job prospects.

Life id very strange .

homeschoolmyarse · 26/04/2020 19:56

No-one I know has relaxed anything. There’s nowhere to go.
There’s a lot more people walking down our suburban road and family bike rides. But that’s fine

brokeuse · 26/04/2020 19:59

Italians, French and Spaniards have been locked down for way longer than we have, in much tighter conditions and they do not appear to find it as unbearable as we do in the UK. How are we so special? Why do we think we are so much more clever than other people? Really annoys me...

650,000 fines in Spain says otherwise.

Areyouactuallyseriousrightnow · 26/04/2020 20:05

Yes friends locally have started arranging accidental meetings and parks were full this weekend

SpratsOnParade · 26/04/2020 20:08

915,000 fines in France. It seems that understandably a lot of people are struggling with lockdown regardless of nationality.

If we’re lucky, the number of deaths will carry on dropping. But luck has nothing to do with this, the number of deaths will exponentially grow in 10-14 days time, because people are ignoring the advice to stay in. In panic the Government will introduce a hardened lockdown. Some sections of the public will assume that this is an infringement of their rights and will riot. In response martial law will be introduce with curfews added. Guess what? More riots, way more then August 2011, the Poll Tax, Brixton, Toxteth, Notting Hill combined. Loss of livelihoods, property and of course more fresh blood for the virus! What would the next step be? Some would say I am letting my imagination getting ahead of me but who would have thought lockdown would be action 3-4 months ago.

BackInTime · 26/04/2020 20:31

Hats off to my teenage DC and their friends who seem to have handled all that has been thrown at them (exams cancelled, home schooling, no socialising, spending all day with DPs) really pragmatically and with good humour. They have diligently obeyed the lockdown unlike our older neighbours, some in the high risk category, having friends over every weekend because they just must see people. So much for the snowflake generation we now know who the true snowflakes are.

SpratsOnParade · 26/04/2020 20:35

BackInTime Your teens can't speak for all teens. The people who are flouting the lockdown here are mostly teens and people in their 20s, and likewise those people aren't representative of all young people so enough with the ageist crap. It's terribly tedious whatever direction it goes in.

Pawsandnoses · 26/04/2020 20:55

@Puppybum prior to lockdown I often had periods where I was disappointed that I'd woken up and then, I still had a job, DD didn't cry every because she misses her GP and friends.

Our pavements, parks and footpaths have all been quiet since lockdown, I must just live in an area that's largely compliant. I did notice earlier on our daily walk to the park with the dog that there are a lot more cars around, as we had to wait and use the crossing. There are still lots of cars going past now (plus the 90 mph biker) and it's almost 9pm on a Sunday night. I appreciate that some might be on their way home from work, but Sunday night traffic is generally deafeningly quiet, so don't know where everyone is going/returning from.

Pawsandnoses · 26/04/2020 20:56

@KindredSpirit1
I hope you're wrong, but I can imagine it happening:(

Patsyanna · 26/04/2020 20:58

Definitely more traffic on the roads yesterday and today.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 26/04/2020 21:03

I haven’t seen anyone flouting the lockdown

TabbyMumz · 26/04/2020 21:05

Drove to our walk today..counted 15 groups of cyclists on a 5 minute drive.

bluejelly · 26/04/2020 21:09

I live in a large town in the SE and it's still very quiet.

TokyoSushi · 26/04/2020 21:11

We live in a tiny close of 5 houses, neighbours on both sides have had adult children visting today and a house a bit further along's teenage daughter has gone out in the car with her non-resident boyfriend. It's like people have just decided it's over. 🙄

myangelalex · 26/04/2020 21:16

Round my village everyone still distancing and so are we.

LisaJ73 · 26/04/2020 21:18

I saw lots of people cycling together and walking into the park yesterday I took shopping to my mum who we are shielding and her local park was packed 😡 I have followed the rules I haven’t seen my children or my granddaughter since this started my youngest daughter hasn’t seen her sisters so selfish!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 26/04/2020 21:20

Round my village everyone still distancing and so are we

A friend reckons she’s going to have serious problems when this is over

She is so used to throwing herself into the road when trying to avoid people Grin

Branleuse · 26/04/2020 21:20

its been more busy at weekends when out, but i wouldnt say things are back to normal. Far from it

ivykaty44 · 26/04/2020 21:25

If your from the same household you can cycle together or go for a walk

CilantroChili · 26/04/2020 22:30

It’s so quiet where I am you’d hear a mouse’s fart. (Just outside Dublin)
