Thread number...4?!? Fucking hell I've never been so popular.

Keep on keeping on and ,moan, whinge and laugh while you enjoy your deliveries and cackle evilly while you kill thousands.

All under the benevolent eye of your awesome , yellow and very ripe leader.

May the bleach be with you.

Ooof. The pharmacist thread. I couldn't resist diving in and having a little poke. The frothing is practically rabid.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 28/04/2020 09:51

Are you observing the 1 minute silence today?

@PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock what is the silence for?

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 28/04/2020 10:43

Workers that have died so far of Covid, seen a thread here and something on FB . At this point I'm just waiting to see what they come up with next

Today is International Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have died at work. There will be a one minute’s silence here in the UK at 11am to remember all workers who have died from coronavirus.

Morning fellow banana republicans.
What minutes silence?

CrowCat · 28/04/2020 11:21

Morning all. I missed the minutes silence. Didn't get the memo as I've blocked most of the frothers I know on fb.

Right. New information about kids and coronavirus. Obviously I have a 9yo and a baby grandson so this is concerning. But. Unpopular and possibly controversial opinion warning:

Does no one think it’s odd how this news has only just been released, coinciding nicely with many people wanting schools to reopen and starting to relax their own personal lockdown situations?? And they know plenty about the virus and how it affects children because they’ve been studying the paediatric cases globally for the last 5 months now. Not just a week or two!

Either this was always the risk and they didn’t tell us, or they’re rolling the news out now to frighten us parents who had previously been told covid wasn’t serious in children, thus ensuring people stop asking for schools to reopen/taking kids to visit people.

Agirlcalled · 28/04/2020 11:33

@CrowCat
Completely agree! Marketing campaign strategies being deployed and not in a positive way.

CrowCat · 28/04/2020 11:36

@Agirlcalled ah glad it's not just me then, because I can be a cynical bugger, but this just smacked of quick let's frighten the parents, that'll get them back in line.

Patte · 28/04/2020 11:55

We've had emails and intranet announcements to tell us we will be taking part in the minute's silence. Given we're all on home working, I have no idea why they were so confident! (And I think most people ignored it.)

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:14

Think we missed the silence. Nothing mentioned on the radio anyway.
Snowed under hear with bleed paperwork, the primary school is making us print off stuff, photo it and then upload it for checking- it is taking ages, more than the work is.

it's a shame as before it was simple and just writing in a book. It's stressful as also secondary is doing it too. Costly as well

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:14

pdfs as well so can't fill in online, is a right faff.

Umpteen · 28/04/2020 12:25

That would really irritate me Orange. Temperamental printers and expensive ink cartridges. I’d be swearing like a trooper.

CrowCat · 28/04/2020 12:33

@Orangeblossom78 ShockShockShock how are the expecting parents who are working (whether outside the home or wfh) to put that amount of time into it?? Not everyone has a printer, surely?? I know I don't. What a faff!!

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:42

Yeah I know. It's a massive hassle. Only the older Dcs phone seems to work with it so it is taking him away from his work too. and the printer thing, it costs a fortune. just printed a whole load of pdfs and the answer book too, about 18 pages or something - we only have one as Dh has it for his work.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:43

Ticked, done - teacher messages DC 'that's lovely can I see a photo please' Me: Arghh

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:43

8 times over

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:44

On main classroom page : Julia has uploaded 66 pages Well done Julia!

Orangeblossom78 · 28/04/2020 12:45

It's all on Microsoft Teams.

Maxandezra · 28/04/2020 12:47

Hola scoundrels.
Crazy busy day yesterday. Work work this morning, nw working form home for the afternoon. Seem to have about 3 pages of the thread to catch up on.
In exciting news though I have booked a skip - doing a bit of pond remodelling and I alos have loads of general household junk to get rid of. Its being delivered Thursday so Im sure that will give the curtain twitchers something to moan about!

Maxandezra · 28/04/2020 12:53

orange similar here with Dc work. Im having to print loads off. Its never in the right fromat for it to be filled in on line. And then the faff of scanning in/submitting etc. Its a bloddy nightmare. And both me and Dh are still working. and yes, then all the posts of school facebook page : "Bob has completed 400 English assignments this week. Well done Bob." Im lucky if I can get ds2 to do 3 a week!!

Still feeling abit grumpy tbh. had planned to take dc on a nice long walk this pm (whilst wfh onvs!!) but of course its raining.....
Somehow I also managed not to sleep much last night. Last time I checked the clock it was 4.30am....alarm went off at 7 Sad so that isnt helping my mood much.

right...must get on

blessed be the fruitful sausage.Wink

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 28/04/2020 12:56

That's bullshit Orange time consuming, expensive and once again bullshit. What age is your primary child? Can she/ he just write the answers down in a note book and you just send a picture of that?

It's ridiculous that they expect all that when it's obvious not all children will be able to access it.

Shout if you need any help, I'm a primary TA.

CrowCat · 28/04/2020 12:57

Hi Max, well done on the skip hire! Someone down the street had one last week and there were mutterings amongst the usually fairly relaxed neighbours. Boredom setting in I think. Previous non curtain twitchers are suddenly creeping out of the woodwork.

Orange I would've had an aneurysm by now! What happened to don't worry about educating them we'll catch them up in September?
