Thread number...4?!? Fucking hell I've never been so popular.

Keep on keeping on and ,moan, whinge and laugh while you enjoy your deliveries and cackle evilly while you kill thousands.

All under the benevolent eye of your awesome , yellow and very ripe leader.

May the bleach be with you.

Evening all, murder account a little high this evening. We had takeaway kebab for dinner. The whole family is lounging round the sitting room gently belching.

Patte · 25/04/2020 21:00

@Maxandezra I'm sure I saw somewhere that most of the rest of the world is using 1m not 2m and we're just playing it safe but I'm afraid I'm too lazy at the moment to look it up!

Short answer though is that I don't think anyone really knows what a safe distance is! Presumably it's based on how far a sneeze could travel or something?!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 25/04/2020 21:06

smile is definitely under his sausage, and above it ,and to left and to the right GrinGrin

Max I think it's based on the distance that droplets from cough/sneezing can travel.

Hello murderesses how goes the weekend so far.

I had to go shopping for my parents today as despite both being elderly and my father being a current patient of the oncology dept, the neuro dept AND the cardio dept consultants, they couldn’t get even a click & collect slot for a fortnight.

I promise you all I’m not joining the frothers, but I AM starting to get super pissed off at the people braki n the rules (actual ones not ‘the roils’) its like that meme, “I could swear we’re fighting two pandemics, covid -19 and stupidity, and I’m not sure which is worse”

I have however channelled my rage into my new lockdown hobby so... tada!

princess thats what is being said. But I dont think it is what scince would suggest. There are too many variables. For exapmple some studies show droplets will fall when breathed out at 2m but can travel 6m or more following a cough or sneeze. But this will vary depending on actual droplet size, number of droplets and force of the cough or neeze etc...I just get the impression the whole 2M thing is just a bit random and made up and now everyone is just getting into a tiz about it.

anyway...more wine...

enjoy your suasage smile Wink

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 25/04/2020 21:38

That looks pretty cool soup well done! Did you learn from scratch?

crow in all fairness pastels won't take on darker colours. The pure turquoise should've worked at least a little bit. What colour is her hair? Dark colours like purple or a fiery red might take. Or just get her a hair chalk set and let her have whatever colour . New one every day.

Oh Max you are right, there is no actual research behind it, which is why countries have varied distances.

The 1.8m rule(and make it 2m to be easier/round it up/margin of error) seems to be based on the flu virus, and One study showss_ when healthcare workers are within 1.8 metres of patients with influenza, their risk of being infected is increased. And the CDC advises that flu can spread up to 6 feet.

I suppose since it is /was so new they used advice for similar (in the way they spread) viruses?

It’s all just shite

I don’t dare ask on the main thread, but the “daily” figures are a mystery to me. I know they are higher than they should be because of patients not tested

I know they are lower possibly because of deaths outside hospitals- again mostly untested

So wtf even are they?!

Orangeblossom78 · 25/04/2020 23:57

Can I join you? For some bizarre reason I went and started a post telling them it's ok to have a picnic this morning and to stop telling people off all the time

Been lying awake thinking about the murder count and happened to find this thread which has made me feel.much better. I have recovered myself from the picnic abuse and had a good laugh as well.

soupforbrains · 26/04/2020 00:22

@PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock well, I would say I learned from scratch but if I was to go into a cross stitch talent show on tv the press would probably ‘expose’ me as a ringer because I did once make a cross stitch bookmark in brownies...

@LilacTree1 not that it particularly helps but both of the examples you listed actually suggest that the daily stats are lower than they should be. More people tested would show up more cases (I.e. the people not super badly affected and so self treati and isolating without ever seeing a doctor etc.)

The daily figures are useful because although they don’t capture every single case and/or death, they capture a large enough proportion of them to be statistically significant. Which means that you can reliably view trends and curves. In other words if day, 20% of cases and 5% of deaths aren’t accurately reported, that proportion is the same every day. So although the line on the graph might truly be located a little higher the shape of it would be the same. So the daily figures can still tell us if cases/deaths are still rising rapidly, or rising slowly, or that can tell us if we have plateaued or peaked etc.

LilacTree1 · 26/04/2020 00:52

Soup - but the NHS daily figures and the government daily figures are totally different.

Well the horrible 5G migraine has hit me like a ton of bricks tonight.

Neighbour just started demolishing his garden and setting fire to it. Yes, at 1.40am. Git. Garden floodlight thing is making it like daylight out there.

Big shopping trip tomorrow. There will be casualties.

LilacTree1 · 26/04/2020 01:44

crow he’s doing noisy work now?!

5G migraine is a joke I missed.

I’m having trouble with MN, so can’t see if Isabelle is back and okay, hope so.

LilacTree1 · 26/04/2020 01:45

Orange I saw your post but didn’t see the reactions!

Orangeblossom78 · 26/04/2020 05:27

Lots of crazy frothing about the picnic. Stuff about distance around the crime site to others, length of time taken and total denial of reputable evidence of it being state sanctioned from various credible sources. Challenged over location of couple of golf people also. Nothing to do with me. Didn't mention had also been on trip.to newsagents just for papers and a creme egg for myself and 80 something neighbour thankfully. Hardly essential. Will.have to repent today with the home schooling joy

Will be staying away from brothers from now on. Oh they tried to tell me they hoped I got the virus as well. Nice.

Orangeblossom78 · 26/04/2020 06:01

Frothers, not brothers Grin although to be honest my brother is a bit sanctimonious atm!

Pringletastic · 26/04/2020 06:46

@CrowCat - now, now, there is nothing wrong with setting fire to your own garden. Your neighbour is obvs an arse arsonist and he is simply following The Roolz and working from home.

Well, in other news, it's another sunny morning in Gilead. I think we are having the best spring we have had in years. Typical.

I'm off to have an illicit meet with a friend of mine later. We are going to run into each other on our Gov't Mandated Exercise Hour and catch up. She is completely and utterly OVER IT. Lives alone and has Zoom'd every person she knows. Is single-handedly keeping the South African economy running (wine) and needs a little human conversation and interaction.
This 'pandemic' has something to answer for. I shall be having strong words with it later. It needs to sort it's shit out and stop removing every trace of humanity from society.
I don't want to live in a dystopian nightmare.

Sorry - that deteriorated quickly. Just fed up with tech being the intermediary in all our conversations.

As you were.

GnomeDePlume · 26/04/2020 08:26

With you there Pringle. Of the people I know the hardest hit are the single people and the people who are being kept apart. DD1 and her bf are buying a house but that is stalled. They can't be together except for properly distanced meet ups on the driveway where they are chaperoned by the whole street.

Blobby10 · 26/04/2020 08:31

Have two kids home from uni, both missing their respective girlfriend and boyfriend and I’ve not seen my OH for five weeks if you discount one night three weeks ago (after which we decided the guilt outweighed the pleasure) . I said yesterday it would be so unfair if, after following all these bloody rules and not having kisses or Sex for so long, we ended up dying from the sodding virus!! Admittedly their shocked/disgusted faces were a sight to behold (As we all know mums don’t have sex ) but they agreed with what I was saying 😂😂

Maxandezra · 26/04/2020 08:55

morning all
welcome orange

slightly cloudy here over my end of Gliead. Actually makes for slightly better running weather so dragging myself out for my long Sunday run in a bit. it will last more than hour, so there will be associated deaths!
I will ensure I keep at least 1.89 M away form everyone though! Wink

Other than that a fairly dull day planned involving lots of housework....busy work week coming up so need to be prepared.

Blessed be the fruity suasage!

Maxandezra · 26/04/2020 08:56

soup loving the crosstitch!

Orangeblossom78 · 26/04/2020 09:19

I have gone and sent presents via Amazon to various relatives on their own books but their favourite author and odd bits, all totally non essential and of course, will possibly result in various deaths but am trying to think that they might, well, enjoy them...was even thinking of sending flowers as you can get some which go through the letter box..but who knows about that. It was a bit overwhelming so have left that idea to settle for a while. Starting homeschooling soon maybe that can be survivable and not result in deaths (but it could, possibly) Grin
