Thread number...4?!? Fucking hell I've never been so popular.

Keep on keeping on and ,moan, whinge and laugh while you enjoy your deliveries and cackle evilly while you kill thousands.

All under the benevolent eye of your awesome , yellow and very ripe leader.

May the bleach be with you.

It's Blessed be the Bacon here. DH cures ours (in home made cider no less). It all sounds very Good Life I realise! DH has just phoned from the supermarket to check what bread I want for my bacon sandwich. In the background I could hear him joking with a staff member (DH works there). That's it, another small midlands town has gone!

@Pringletastic is arsing practice in the garden a good idea? What will the neighbours think?

I’m debating putting a sign in my window for the clap

Like STFU AND END LOCKDOWN NOW.

In the last week I got a new phone (spelling may or may not get better), dp got a new tablet and I got a smart watch. So I can track how many steps I am not doing a day 🤷‍♀️

Also cases for the phone and tablet. So doing some suitable soreading, to make up for staying in.

I have just spent sometime reading 'UK lockdown 2020' groupd in Facebook.
Exactly as I thought it would be. Lots of 5g conspiracy. Interspersed with 'they hide so much from us. Corona doesn't exist. 5g is controlling people's minds. If it can't control you, it will kill you, those of us who know the truth are at risk of death because we know its bollocks. Only steeple will survive. The earth is also flat and they won't tell us the truth about that either.'

LilacTree1 · 23/04/2020 12:06

Shit I’ve been looking round similar on Twitter. Haven’t seen that but a lot of scientists saying that social distancing is enough to control spread to manageable levels. And a lot of people who would like to live normally and take our chances.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 23/04/2020 12:09

lilac I am one of those. Although I would prefer to stay working from home. Just because I hate my office. Not pandemic related.

I really think we are sacrificing people (those that will die from other things or as result of the downturn) to try and keep the covid numbers down.

I actually think Sweden have got it right.

But that group is a whole other level of crazy.

Sweden have got it right

Re 5G I know nothing about it and obviously the algorithms direct me to stuff I’m interested in so that might be why I don’t see it.

I was tempted to get the bus out to the nature reserve but....no loo 😞

LilacTree1 · 23/04/2020 12:15

I must admit I do call it the Controllervirus.

LilacTree1 · 23/04/2020 12:38

The change of language is quite weird IMHO

all this “self”

People say “I’m self isolating”.

They could just say “I’m isolated” - or even “I’m isolating”. I would assume it was themselves and not that they’d kidnapped Prince Andrew or something.

CrowCat · 23/04/2020 12:48

I am almost at full on Handmaids rebellion stage now.

Yes @Smilethoyourheartisbreaking, me too.

I spoke to a friend about this last night, lots of ranting and ended it with I'm pissed off with a half arsed bullshit lockdown and I'm done playing nice. He exited the conversation fairly sharpish, clearly not a fan of rebellious women Confused

Pringletastic · 23/04/2020 12:53

I must admit I do call it the Controllervirus.

I call it COVID-1984.

I also hate the term social-distancing. Call it physical distancing if you must.

I miss hugs. Not that I would get random ones on a daily basis or anything, but this dancing round each other on the pavements, accompanied by the look of fear of some parents, if their small child is engrossed by a butterfly and is veering within 2.1m of another human.

But mainly it's the Curtain Twitching Stasi that make me think George Orwell wrote an entire book of predictive text.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 23/04/2020 12:59

Poops I seem to have upset people on the 'any old mask will do thread'

I pointed out that several medical experts on TV (different programmes) pointed out that countries where alot of people have worns masks for year (like china) saw no impacted on the transmition of flu etc when they started wearing them years ago.

So why would it impact the spread of covid.

Only added it as a discussion point. But apparently, these countries have been wearing masks that long, we would have no idea if flu was impacted. They didn't track flu numbers before mask wearing, apparently 🤷‍♀️

@CrowCat my mother is increasingly scared of the disease, maybe your friend is too?

It’s very weird because I stayed in London because of my mum and now I realise she’d have been fine without me, no matter how upset she seems.

Lol at Covid 1984. Random hugs from strangers would be a worry 😂

I do hope this makes nasty git blokes more likely to keep their hands to themselves.

The pavement dancing is grim, I agree.

Im going to the greengrocer for a cucumber but just buying a cucumber will raise eyebrows 😂

I have ordered a book about women serial killers. This is not my terrain so I guess it will be interesting.

I wonder if any of them used an AK47.....

okiedokieme · 23/04/2020 13:04

You are spot on with the Orwellian reference, the city centre and station is like a post apocalyptic dystopian movie set ... but the railway staff are friendly and helpful and the train is empty. I even got to sit on the bench and eat crisps without a complaint!

LilacTree1 · 23/04/2020 13:06

Shit “ They didn't track flu numbers before mask wearing, apparently 🤷‍♀️”

That does seem possible. Tracking is a relatively recent obsession.

Tbh I used to be relieved when people wore masks on the Tube, it was like announcing “I have a cold, keep away” but of course, will no longer function that way.

okiedokieme · 23/04/2020 13:07

@LilacTree1 so I'm not the only maverick who wants to take their chances? Good to know. (Disclaimer, think I've already had it)

GnomeDePlume · 23/04/2020 13:19

I think the NHS Clap has reached the point where nobody dare stop it.

It reminds me of something I read about a Soviet party conference where the standing ovation was going on and on. Nobody wanted to be the first person to stop and sit down. Eventually a senior party member decided enough was enough and sat down. Everyone else followed suit with a sigh of relief.

Shortly afterwards the senior party member disappeared.....

Shielding is a word I would gladly never read again. Too often I see it used in the context of 'I'm shielding a family member'. It sounds like they are being a super hero with pants on the outside.

Gnome “ Shielding is a word I would gladly never read again. Too often I see it used in the context of 'I'm shielding a family member'. It sounds like they are being a super hero with pants on the outside.”

This!

I think a lot of the propaganda is designed to feed off ego.
