A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

Checking in for day 31 So sorry to hear some of you are still feeling rough. I had a good day generally although I did sleep in late. It's not until the evening that I dipped and now my back is aching and having slight breathlessness, Husband on day 17 is experiencing those breathless periods and wants to sleep but he has been up and about, He is already in bed and asleep as he is exhausted. I just keep reminding myself that I am better than last week and eventually this will pass but I am still a bit tearful. Wishing all of you a good night in which you are able to sleep and hopefully a better day tomorrow

Dorual · 15/04/2020 19:29

@TheDrsWife46 I can't eat most of the day with nausea, but come evening I get hungry. Plus I am underweight so I need to eat. But can barely breathe now. Ugh

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 19:38

@TheDrsWife46 I bought compan for my dd today as I'm concerned at her diet. Maybe worth a try?

Dorual · 15/04/2020 19:41

@godhelpusall Complan is my breakfast everyday! Because I'm so nauseous it takes 2 hours to drink. Love the chocolate one though

Porcupineinwaiting · 15/04/2020 19:57

@TheDrsWife46 you must eat. How about sipping at a cup of soup if you dont want anything solid?

Tangledyarn · 15/04/2020 20:08

Definitely need to eat. I've really struggled as had no apetite although its coming back now, even if you just have milkshakes, smoothies, yogurt etc to start with. Am eating normally now just small amounts.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 20:17

@mumlurker and @Gunner30 sounds exactly the same. Very weird. Glad I am not imagining it.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 15/04/2020 20:17

So, new to the thread ... have you all “had it”?

I do wish testing were available. I still feel breathless and not myself, three months after I “think” I had it (though the timing is all wrong). Still breathless, heavy chest, can’t sleep lying down as start coughing. Knackered, ALL the time.

I’m working from home.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 20:18

3 months @TheLadyAnneNeville. That’s awful. You must be so fed up.

Meercatmama · 15/04/2020 20:18

I really struggled with eating had no appetite at all even now. I found very small amounts worked for me and I forced myself to eat. Still doing it now as my appetite still really has not come back although I can now taste some foods. I normally drank loads of tea but at my worst all I could drink is water and although I drink some teas water is still my main drink, Food wise I found rice a little better than bread and potatoes and soft foods and soups easier, It is so difficult but you have to eat

TheLadyAnneNeville · 15/04/2020 20:23

@Egghead68... the most annoying aspect for me, is not knowing. If I’ve NOT had it then whatever I DID have has been absolutely terrible. And, so many months in, I’m wondering whether I’ll ever be right. That’s alarming, if it was just a common-or-garden “bug”.

If our Govt. got its finger out, we’d be tested and KNOW for sure.

My GP prescribed antibiotics/steroids and inhalers for me in January and told me it was “just a bug” but now, so many weeks later, I’m beginning to think it WAS COVID19.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 15/04/2020 20:24

Oh, and I’ve never required that kind of treatment before, for a winter bug.

Casino218 · 15/04/2020 20:36

Day 37 here. The fatigue is a real problem today. Plus I felt spaced out. I sat on a chair in the garden and it was like I was in slow motion just watching birds and insects fly past. I almost felt drugged. The other problem is a feeling in my chest that I liken to the feeling I had when breastfeeding- that let down reflex. Really strange.

However, apart from those two issues I think I'm making some improvement.

onlinelinda · 15/04/2020 20:44

I'm sorry so many are still not properly well, and some not at all.

Does anyone else still have temperature issues? I've been ok for 3 day, chills one hour Saturday, 1 hour yesterday and twice today, this morning and the last hour. Plus now a headache. I could cope with anything if I could finally get my temperature under control, on day 32. I'm feeling really fed up, for the first time really.

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 20:47

@TheLadyAnneNeville hi there! It sounds awful, three months later is quite shocking. My dh and I have both said you know if you've had Covid as it's not like any virus we've had before. Very strange - for me the loss of taste and smell without a blocked nose was very weird. But there seems to be different strains or it targets different people in different ways. I have had it n my sinuses, throat, ears, stomach, chest... all at different times. I don't think it would be that strange to have had it in January- all it would take is someone coming in from one of the places that had it at the time.... the lack of testing is awful.

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 20:49

@onlinelinda I still had chills up to 4 days ago I think. I'm on day 35 today. But god I don't rule it out from coming back

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 20:51

Hi @Casino218 - we are same dayers I think. 5 whole weeks today! Good to hear that you are mostly improving, it really is a beast.

stayathomegardener · 15/04/2020 20:56

@TheWooisStrong that's so funny, bound to be a quarantine baby!

@OneDayAtATime123 inadvertently you did exactly the right thing with the vitamin c.

Once you get to bowel tolerance all in one go it flushes the viral particles out of your system.

You should then see an improvement after that.

Now you know your tolerance level stick to just under that spread out over the day.

Hotlungs · 15/04/2020 20:56

I’m so glad I’ve found this thread. I had symptoms of a terrible cough late Feb that lasted a couple of weeks and then came back about ten days later with a sore throat.
I’ve had breathlessness and burning in my lungs on and off since then. Three nights ago I stayed getting a tingling/cold sensation in my arms and today the breathless is back.
I also have elevated heart rate although I do have a condition that can cause this at times.
It’s really reassuring to hear that other people have had such prolonged symptoms. I keep getting panicky that I’m not recovering and that I’ll go down hill. However it seems that for some people it does take a while.
I’m also 7 weeks post-partum so I’m pretty run down in general and not getting much sleep to help me recover.

Hotlungs · 15/04/2020 20:57

I’ve also got a really dry sensation at the back of my nose/throat like I’ve slept in a room with no air

onlinelinda · 15/04/2020 21:02

@godhelpusall it's mad. I have had so many false recoveries and then the same symptoms back. But that's still reassuring. How long so far have you been rid of it this time?

godhelpusall · 15/04/2020 21:16

@onlinelinda 4 days I think. Touch wood.

Casino218 · 15/04/2020 21:22

My sneezes are really volatile too. Anyone noticed that?

kevintheorangecarrot · 15/04/2020 21:31

Hi everyone. I hope you are all having an OK evening. I am really getting quite fed up now. Symptoms since 18th March, so almost a month now. Had a few days where I felt absolutely fine and now all gone downhill.

Today I am having even more heartburn and my throat is severely burning and my nostrils also feel like they're burning too. I feel very fatigued and lethargic but cannot get into deep sleep. My eyes are very sore and I keep waking up throughout the night. Shortness of breath still there, but not as bad as it was before. I just can't see how any of this is going to end. Went in the garden and I couldn't even lift a bag of compost out the shed. My muscles just didn't allow me to do it. Sad

My DH has diazepam that he doesn't take; so I'm just wondering whether I can take it? I just want to sleep through the night. But with this SOB going on, is it too risky?

My anxiety is really, really bad right now. I already suffer from it (15+ years and counting) and I read the news this morning... bad idea! My goodness so many people have died, most of them young as well and there's me just panicking to the core and wondering whether I am going to get the very dreadful symptoms and start suffering really badly and that's it. Life is over :(

At the weekend I felt like I had a fever (my whole body felt like I was sort of sitting near a fire) which lasted 2 days then that went. Possibly another virus? Really have no idea.... I know we're all in the same boat.

Dorual · 15/04/2020 21:38

Crouched on all fours here to give my lungs some room from the bloat. Helps.

@kevintheorangecarrot nooo not the news. Never watch the news! I scrolled fb and saw a sad and scary article. Mistake. Distract as much as possible. And hope. Take joy in the moments where symptoms ease.

I found the energy to play Battleships with my children this evening... I've missed them so much.
