A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

@pinkoneblueone Weirdly I find quite thick drinks helpful, like juices or smoothies, kind of coats the throat! Xx

fedupofbed · 19/04/2020 16:05

I'm sorry that so many of us are feeling rubbish today. Unfortunately I am too, and haven't posted earlier as I feel so bloody negative.

Spent till 2pm unable to move at all, chills, nausea and light headed. Gradually coming through that now but the most depressing thing is that my breathing is getting worse. SATS mostly fine but I have to really concentrate on my breathing to get enough in if that makes sense. Day 46 and can't see how this can be post viral.

I'm also getting lots of aches and pains in my legs now as can be expected from spending best part of 6 weeks in bed. I'm trying to get up and walk around the house 2-3 times a day but it's hard, as it makes me feel faint and harder to breathe properly.

I share everyone's frustration and helplessness that we're in this situation. The one positive thing I've done today is type out a document with my timeline, full symptoms, etc. I'm not sure if it will do much good but I'm going to email it to my GP tomorrow. I know there's nothing much she can do to help me right now but at the very least she can share it with peers and colleagues and spread awareness.

Kitcat122 · 19/04/2020 16:24

@Moodgie remember my doctor said I could easily have breathlessness and lung discomfort for upto 8 weeks. Hope you start improving soon xx

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 16:26

@kitcat122 Would that include untriggered issues, say a tight chest out of the blue? I can understand getting breathless after some effort.

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 16:26

And thank you, and same to you, and to all of us here. Xx

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 16:28

@fedupofbed that's a great idea. GPs really need to be sharing this stuff with each other and it needs to be well known- we'd all have coped better knowing this was a possibility. Makes you wonder if it's not being covered up by the BoJos of the world to prevent people swinging the lead and trying to get people back to work ASAP.

Khaleesimother · 19/04/2020 16:32

@WorriesomeDad so sorry you are having a bad day, hope tomorrow is better.
@Gunner30 good to see that you've improved and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
@TheDrsWife46 so glad you got to speak to someone who seemed to know what he was talking about. Hope you feel a bit more reassured x.
@fedupofbed so sorry you are feeling like this. I think thats a good idea emailing your timeline to GP, hope you get something constructive back.
Day 30 for me i think. Not too good but out of bed, breathless and chest heavy and painful. 5th day of antibiotics, have different stomach pains but not sure whether its virus or ab's related. Yesterday I realised I have developed a puffy/swollen patch in middle of my chest about 1.5 inches (where bra would sit) has anyone had this? I'm wondering if this could be due to inflammation I think I saw costochondritis mentioned on a thread, wonder if this is brought on by the virus.
Here's hoping for a better day for us all tomorrow xx

pinkoneblueone · 19/04/2020 16:48

Can all of you please please sign and share my petition, it highlights that we exist and that we have had way more symptoms than outlined by the gov and NHS. I want to fight to get this updated on the NHS website to help people recognise they have the virus sooner there for isolate sooner as currently we have many people on here daily saying ‘I’m glad I found you I’ve been ill like all for two weeks do I have the virus?’ which is hugely concerning. Please help me change this! www.change.org/p/rt-hon-matt-hancock-mp-gov-to-update-the-symptoms-of-clovid-19-on-all-guidance-to-save-lives/dashboard

pinkoneblueone · 19/04/2020 16:52

@Tangledyarn thanks I will give that a try!
@fedupofbed I so hope that emailing them can gain a response as it is very difficult to get much out of them. I read that one man only shook the virus after having blood from a survivor given to him after 49 days!

Meercatmama · 19/04/2020 17:05

So sorry to hear that some of you are having a bad day. After yesterday I was expecting more of a dip but woke up this morning after 10 hours sleep feeling ok. Have spent the morning pottering around and doing some work for school but now feel tired and the back pain has reappeared. For day 35 it was a better day than I expected
@pinkoneblueon I have signed your petition Thank you for setting it up
I have now started to take vitamin c and d tablets every day and I am making a point of sitting out in the sunshine Husband on Day 21 is also feeling better and last night managed to stay up to 9pm by which time we were shattered. We are both still having rests during the day. Wishing all of you a better evening and night

onlinelinda · 19/04/2020 17:12

@Fedupofbed, I wonder if you need to be seen again now? It seems like a good idea to me.

@drswife and @worriesomedad, I'm so sorry you're both still so unwell and fed up. It's so hard when we are used to medical support when we need it.

Like @kitkat I’m on day 4 of feeling much better. I’ve not had the extreme cold symptoms since Wednesday (day 32) , which sent me back to bed each time. I’ve walked for 30 minutes on 3 of the last 4 days. My only symptoms now are general tiredness, and a hot back on and off.

@godhelpusall and @egghead68 I absolutely loathe the government.

onlinelinda · 19/04/2020 17:19

And if anyone needs a further reason to fume, see this from DH's Private Eye:

onlinelinda · 19/04/2020 17:20

Kitcat122 · 19/04/2020 17:24

@Moodgie yes the main reason I finally called the doctor last week (week 5) was because I was still having breathlessness while just sitting watching TV etc. It seemed to get worse last week for about 4 days then started improving xx

alittleprivacy · 19/04/2020 17:26

Last night around 10pm the quality of my breathing suddenly improved. I don't know quite how to explain it, because I wasn't short of breath just my lung felt stiff and heavy and suddenly it stopped feeling so bad. My breathing didn't change so much as the satisfaction I'm getting from it improved. I wish I had an oximeter as my guess is that the blood oxygen level became more normal, maybe.

Then at around 3am I woke up with the worst bloating and stomach pains. It kept coming in waves of pain with dizziness, nausea and then a cold sweat. I thought I was maybe having high temperatures, so I checked and I was actually 35Ëšc. This went on for a few hours. I eventually needed the toilet, but (tmi) it wasn't the diarrhoea I was expecting. I felt well enough to go back to bed but was absolutely freezing and had to put on a big fleecey pjs and my socks and extra blankets. I've been having a lot of night sweats lately so have been sleeping light so this was a big change.

Stomach still a bit uneasy today. Breathing still as improved as it was last night. My lung hurts a bit. I just had to give the dog a bath (he was reeking and sleeps on my bed so.....) and even though he's tiny and obedient when being washed my lung was hurting once I'd finished. So I'm resting it again now. In my head, my bad tummy last night was my body fighting the virus and flushing it out of me. I know that's not how it works exactly but I still hope it was. I'm not as better as I was for the good 4 days, but it's the best I've felt for 10 days.

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 17:30

Thank you, @Kitcat122.

onlinelinda · 19/04/2020 17:31

Clueless as to why that won't post. Basically it was an article by the medical person MD saying that the so -called first patient in the uk waited in vain for a call back before being tested, and therefore went to the pub. A GP he had been in contact with, and had travelled with, was not contacted and therefore not prevented from attending a meeting of 20 other GPs that week. It's astonishing if it's true.

Egghead68 · 19/04/2020 17:47

I signed it @pinkoneblueone

Feelpoorly · 19/04/2020 17:49

May I join you all? You have bought me so much comfort this last week. I am day 34 and around day 25 had quite a relapse. I am especially suffering with burning chest and acid reflux and shortness of breath- the things it all began with. This terrified me that I was starting all over again. I am going to try some omeprozole and am hoping, like everyone else, that this is a response to the damage the virus did, rather than still the virus itself.
I am sorry you all feel so rubbish and like all of you, I feel angry about being left totally unsupported. My g.p. has been useless and because it is now so many weeks ago that I had the cough and temp, 111 won't discuss it with me either. So I have relied on you all no end.

alittleprivacy · 19/04/2020 17:50

Something just occurred to me. Remember a month or so ago there was a report on a study done in China that showed a link between infection rates and blood type? A types were the most likely to be infected and O types the least. I'm A+ so I wonder if that has anything to do with the length of time the infection is lasting.

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 17:52

@alittleprivacy. I am not totally sure but I think I am A+ too.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 18:04

@Feelpoorly I think we are all familiar with those symptoms there are so many ups and downs when trying to get better, it feels like the virus just keeps popping back up all the time but I like to think we are still getting better just working through different phases of the illness. Hope tommorow is a better day for you Flowers

Khaleesimother · 19/04/2020 18:18

@pinkoneblueone just signed x

Linus1972 · 19/04/2020 18:25

@Feelpoorly, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm on Day 30 and had a setback on Day 19 after I carried some bags up a hill. My blood pressure has been high since. I have had a burning chest and acid reflux since Day 4. I've been taking esomeprazole (related to omazoprole) since Day 12 - there was one evenign when the pain was so bad I couldn't move with it, and I think it's reduced those symptoms a bit, although I've also changed my eating behaviours. Are you trying Gavascon too? I'm waiting for all food/drink to cool down before eating, cut out all caffeine, trying to eat snacks between meals. Biscuits and bananas seem to help. Worst thing for me is at night, I can feel the acid taste in my mouth when I lie down and my stomach gurgles all night. I was up at 3.30am last night eating a biscuit in the hope it would die down. If I can get through a night without the burning in my chest, I consider it a success. I can sympathise about NHS111. I spent last Sunday being passed around different people - a waste of time.

TheWooisStrong · 19/04/2020 18:26

After a day of doing very little I’m feeling slightly brighter after a hot shower and a paracetamol. Just hoping I feel better again tomorrow. So fed up of all of this.
