A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:

@WorriesomeDad

Yes I'm at 37 days too, had a really good day yesterday, ok this morning, but taken a turn for the worse this afternoon. I think I'm post-viral mostly, but still getting the odd symptom that makes me think it's still in my body, attacking me.

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 13:49

@WorriesomeDad have you seen a dr yet?

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 13:54

@mumlurker what are your viral symptoms?

WorriesomeDad · 19/04/2020 13:59

Cheers @mumlurker, everything crossed for both of us.

@godhelpusall yeah I’ve had an examination in person and quite a few phone calls with my gp. My numbers are ok, o2 fine, heart rate and blood pressure a bit variable but nothing to cause concern. Chest sounds clear even if it certainly doesn’t feel like it!

The main thing is that my symptoms are really uncomfortable. Struggling to sleep with tight chest and lungs that are obviously still inflamed. Cough is grim and I’ve even brought up a small amounts of blood (though apparently not enough to warrant more than another course of antibiotics). Still having the rollercoaster falling/nausea today too which I thought would be long gone by now.

Just want this over with. I don’t expect to be right back to normal anytime soon but it would be really nice to be able to breathe and sleep properly.

mumlurker · 19/04/2020 14:00

@godhelpusall

Mainly, um, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Not getting a temperature but still very easily chilled.

Feel intermittently very dizzy, usually accompanied by the feeling that my heart is beating really intensely and the sensation that my neck can hardly hold my head up, but this seems like it could be post-viral (even though it feels horrible and weird)

Dorual · 19/04/2020 14:01

@TheDrsWife46 do you feel reassured at all? What's a haematology risk score?

mumlurker · 19/04/2020 14:01

@WorriesomeDad I forgot to say, I hope day 38 really is a turning point for you!

Gunner30 · 19/04/2020 14:02

Hi all, day 37 for me and my work in the garden yesterday hasn't really set me back and just managed a 30min walk. I'm starting to get chest pains again, but this time it does feel like costocondritis (pain between the ribs and back) which I've had before. It's probably just due to do to the pneumonia and coughing, so just need to rest, which I'm doing anyway. Overall still feel ok and it does seem to improve slightly every day.

@TheDrsWife46 sorry you're feeling so unwell. The fatigue/aches and pains I had completely wiped me out for two weeks. I could only really get up to get changed and make some food. Because I hardly moved, I've been trying to get my strength back gradually and it seems to be working. Small walks around the garden to start and the last few days have been much better. Hope this helps, but agree with @longshot that rest seems to be the key and it just to takes time.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 14:09

Day 44 here. I think I've managed to accept now that it's just going to take me ages to feel better, mostly post viral fatigue I'd say but still some lingering viral symptoms (shortness of breath, chest pain and tightness, buzzing, sore throat, swollen glands) Have managed to sit in the garden and potter around a bit before coming back to bed for the afternoon so pretty happy with that..definitely couldnt have done that even a week ago :)

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 14:09

@TheDrsWife46 Really glad you got to speak to someone.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 14:14

What I really would like to be able to do is have a shower. Still feeling very faint if I stand up for too long.

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 14:17

That sounds crap @WorriesomeDad . Could you keep hassling gp? I wonder if we need to start being more vocal about it- like @TheDrsWife46 said, we are not just breathing machines!

mumlurker · 19/04/2020 14:17

@Tangledyarn

Here's to small improvements! I'm trying to relax into the idea that it will take me ages to recover too, and to focus on the small victories. A week ago I was still bedridden, today I've been able to go outside and walk about for the second day in a row, even if I still feel a long way off normal. You'll get that shower soon enough I'm sure.

TheWooisStrong · 19/04/2020 14:46

Feeling rough today. Was late to bed yesterday and children woke up early. DH disappeared off the the allotment all morning, then I had to do some work work, then he vanished again for a nap. I’m now sat in the sun and telling them all to leave me alone as I need a rest.
Wheezy cough and fatigue, back ache from coughing, general malaise. What I’d give for 24hrs on my own...

WorriesomeDad · 19/04/2020 14:48

@godhelpusall If my numbers are ok I just don’t think there’s anything else they could do. Short of a plasma transfusion with antibodies to I don’t think there’s a great deal anyone can do!

LetsBeSensible · 19/04/2020 14:53

@thedrswife46 thanks for that update and hoping your DH now understands that you’re still ill and will be for a while. Keep an eye on your symptoms and call that hub right back if anything deteriorates x

I’ve started facing more of people letting me know I should be out having a 1hr walk now I’m better. Time to start promoting what post viral fatigue entails I guess.

Unusual scenario for me, a friend thinks they are getting symptoms. Am worried for him, hoping I can be helpful as emotional support if he does get it. I don’t know anyone else who has had it yet.

Egghead68 · 19/04/2020 15:00

Thanks @OneDayAtATime123. I tried cat and cow poses in week 2 when it was too much for me but I think I could try them now. Thanks for the reminder.

@TheDrsWife46 sounds like it was a very reassuring conversation.

@WorriesomeDad and @mumlurker it is rubbish that you are both feeling bad so far down the line. I hope the 38 days thing is true.

@Gunner30 and @Tangledyarn

  • I’m glad you are both managing to do a bit more.

@TheWooisStrong I sorry you are having a bad day. I hope you can get a bit of peace and quiet.

I am still wiped out after my 2 minutes gentle exercise this morning!

pinkoneblueone · 19/04/2020 15:01

@Tangledyarn I am two days behind you and having the same struggles the first time I have had a lump in my throat feeling today I feel so fed up. It’s reassuring to know I am not alone in this.

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 15:02

Does anyone so far down the line still feels like the breathing is not what it should be? I could accept the post viral scenario more easily if I felt that the breathing symptoms are not there any more.

Moominmamma33 · 19/04/2020 15:10

@TheDrsWife46 glad you got some reassurance. @Moodgie I'm still with you on breathlessness, had some better days without any, but it's back today! Only reassurance is knowing when I had this the other day my oxygen levels were safe, so body is still being supplied even if it feels like lungs are struggling. I managed a tiny bit of gardening earlier, was puffing a lot afterwards, but it was so nice to be out in the sunshine. @mumlurker like you say it's small steps to where we want to be. @LetsBeSensible hope your friend is ok, it's a worrying time and feels so helpless once someone has caught it. Remember that the vast majority of people recover. Smile

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 15:11

@Pinkoneblueone Yeah it's really hard isn't it. Having a lot of palpitations and struggling to speak again as my throat is so sore after my morning sitting in the garden, I feel like I'm just living on bloody strepsils. We'll get there eventually Flowers

Gunner30 · 19/04/2020 15:11

Thanks @Egghead68. Sorry others aren't having such good days, I'm sure they will come and wishing you all the best.

@Moodgie my breathing isn't still 100% and seems to get slightly worse as the day goes, but it is vastly improved from a few weeks ago. However l, I do have asthma, so that will probably not help, especially now it's hayfever season as well .

Moodgie · 19/04/2020 15:13

@moominmamma33 Well done with the gardening. I can manage to get myself a drink and that’s about it. My fatigue is now way worse that in any of the weeks earlier on.

WorriesomeDad · 19/04/2020 15:21

@Moodgie yep, with you there. Breathing still crook.

pinkoneblueone · 19/04/2020 15:25

Thank you @Tangledyarn I haven’t long rooted out the Jakemans from when we were ill in January for it. It did help a little that and lots of water. I have just googled post viral symptoms and it does fit the bill here’s hoping we are on the mend.
