A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

Is day 18 past the danger zone? I know there's risk of secondary infection... but if I was going to be one of the ones who need hospital admission I'd have done so by now right?

Almost certainly.

intheroom · 18/04/2020 23:19

@Dorual I'm so sorry. It's maddening when your lungs feel better then get worse again. My oximeter helps my stress.

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 23:34

@Dorual I believe you are out the danger zone just keep an eye on your temperature incase of an infection as it will soon tell you. There will be a few more flare ups along the way possibly but you can do this!

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 23:35

@WorriesomeDad

I have had what tastes like poison on my breath the last 3/4 days it’s been vile. Especially after sleeping. Day 42 currently.

Dorual · 18/04/2020 23:41

Thanks for your reassurance guys. I'm in bed sipping hot water with a water bottle on my chest. I'd like my oximeter surgically attached please!

It's going to be hard to stop analysing every bodily sensation once this is over!

Gunner30 · 18/04/2020 23:46

@moodgie the fatigue was one of the last things to go, but I had it pretty much since week one, which was pretty frustrating, but at least it seems to be getting better now. I'm still resting, but trying to do one or two more physical things each day to build up my strength without causing a relapse.

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 23:52

@gunner30 that is reassuring as we are late on and shattered

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 23:53

Thanks @Gunner.
Seems a few of us are not having a great evening. Fingers crossed for a good day tomorrow.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 00:00

@Dorual its horrible when breathing gets difficult again. I had a bad flare up yesterday when I had just been in bed all day so not trigger. Very frustrating.

Egghead68 · 19/04/2020 00:22

@WorriesomeDad I don’t see how that can be post-viral personally. I hope it goes away quickly.

@Dorual the breathing symptoms are the scariest of all I think. I hope you can get some sleep and feel better in the morning.

TheDrsWife46 · 19/04/2020 04:39

@Gunner30 can I just ask how you felt fatigue felt, I assumed that people meant tired and sleepy but you described “building your strength”

By biggest symptom is how much my body shakes and twitches. I literally struggle to stand up or hold myself erect in a chair. I cant clench my fists or brace my legs against something or they buckle. I alternate between thinking that I muscle atrophy from lying in bed or nerve damage because I have so many tingly/buzzing sensations in my lower body. I try to take small walks round the garden but when i use the stairs my legs buckle.

wallyrag · 19/04/2020 04:45

Can I have any advice or reassurance please. Two doctors have said it sounds like I have it, symptoms were tiredness scratchy burny throat and short of breath with tight chest. I'm asthmatic. Other than the throat and face feeling very hot I wasn't sure so can't be 100% when it started.
I'm sat fully upright in bed, feel out of breath now. Can speak. Feel like my lungs are heavy, breathing in seems to be a conscious effort so scared to sleep. Sats are good. Though I'm worse than earlier, finding getting up stairs hard now

TheDrsWife46 · 19/04/2020 05:06

@wallyrag the feeling of air hunger and that you cant breathe is exceptionally frightening and physically/mentally draining. You say your sats are good so I assume you have an oximeter which is good. Which day are you on because i found 6-9ish really frightening and overwhelming.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 05:07

@wallyrag Its a horrible feeling but if your sats are good just try to rest. The breathlessness and heavy lungs are really nasty symptoms. Your body will just take some time to recover

TheDrsWife46 · 19/04/2020 05:15

@Tangledyarn are you there for a handhold for me. Its getting where everyone is recommending hospital for me, even DH saying “if you cant manage any more you need hospital”. My legs are so so weak, they have continual buzzing and fizzing sensations. Its spreads over my bum/thighs and legs. Not so bad upper body. I cant know if its muscle atrophy as bed bound really (can shuffle round the garden) or nerve issues. Im scared to go to hospital and get fobbed off or that they’ll be annoyed. But im practically bed bound now just trying to get up each hour for a shuffle but i also have lung pain and a cough but i have had a clog in the past. Im scared that lying about has or will give me another one. I know you know about cfs so is that how my legs would feel?

wallyrag · 19/04/2020 05:26

@TheDrsWife46 I'm unsure what day to be honest as I'm not 100% what symptoms were this. So day 1/2 or 4 maybe?
Thank you for replying.

wallyrag · 19/04/2020 05:29

@Tangledyarn thank you. @TheDrsWife46 don't feel the hospital would annoyed with you, they really won't be. They see all sorts and you have genuine symptoms. Take care

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 06:52

@TheDrsWife46 absolutely go to the hospital. You are unwell and have been for a long time. Even if it's for reassurance it is entirely valid. I really hope you start to feel better soon

Casino218 · 19/04/2020 07:15

@wallyrag when did you first develop symptoms? It sounds like Covid from your description.

Tangledyarn · 19/04/2020 07:23

@TheDrsWife46 Yeah I still have the buzzing and am very weak and shaky, but you have to do what feels right for you, it's been going on for a while so maybe speak to your GP rather than a&e as it doesnt sound like an emergency but they might be able to reassure or will suggest a&e if they think that's where you need to be.

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 07:26

Woken up feeling ok today, better than yesterday. Was just thinking it would be interesting to find out why we are all in the symptoms dragging on group. I wonder if it's something in us, genetic similarities or what? I would quite like to be part of a research group looking at it

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 07:29

Still sweating at night though. What that means I don't know.

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 07:30

How are you @Casino218 ? Still largely improving?

godhelpusall · 19/04/2020 07:52

theindependent.sg/the-curious-case-of-sg-covid-19-patient-who-continued-to-test-positive-for-34-days-after-being-symptom-free/

According to this the medical staff said the virus stays longer in fitter people (!) - pretty sure that's not me!

Casino218 · 19/04/2020 08:17

@godhelpusall I think I'm day 41 now and ok apart from slight pain when I'm trying to sleep in chest but I only really feel it at night now and groggy feeling on waking and a dull head through the day. I can't think of words or forget things easily. Otherwise I'm on the mend. Going out for a decent walk in the day. In a couple of weeks time I will try to start running again. DH is taking longer to bounce back. He still has quite a bit of chest pain and if he tries to do much he starts yawning and his chest hurts.
