A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Egghead68 · 18/04/2020 15:37

That’s great news @alittleprivacy!

WorriesomeDad · 18/04/2020 15:39

@alittleprivacy That is good news. What I’d give for a proper assessment and no lasting damage. Great stuff, you must be relieved.

Linus1972 · 18/04/2020 15:40

@Moodgie Yes, I feel phlegmy on and off, and the coughing increases with it, especially upon getting up and then again after evening meal. I've been drinking a lot of milk lately so am going to try cutting back on that and having more herbal teas and water. Before this started I used to have 5-6 cups of coffee or tea a day. I've cut down to 1. It seems like every day I have a different combination of symptoms and I can never predict what's going to be next.

Egghead68 · 18/04/2020 15:43

@Moodgie I have that annoying phlegm on my larynx too (I have it chronically anyhow). Drinking loads helps as does drinking instead of coughing (the coughing further inflamed your larynx). Sucking sweets, hot drinks, honey, salt-water gargles and steaming are good too. I reckon a shot of spirits helps to disinfect the area but don’t recommend this if alcohol is making your general symptoms worse.

user34254356 · 18/04/2020 15:52

@alittleprivacy that is reassuring. Were you seen in the covid or non covid section?

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 16:00

@Linus1972 @Egghead68 Thank you both.
@Linus1972 Yes, that’s how I feel. Everyday day seems to be different. How many days are you?
@Egghead68 I have been doing all of these that you recommend!

I have also developed back ache - I am wondering whether it could be more muscular and simply from the bad posture and all the time in bed in the recent weeks.

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 16:03

@Moodgie I started with terrible backache. I am feeling disheartened today after feeling better for days, I have the virus feeling back. 5+ weeks. And my daughter is complaining of tummy ache again. Could cry today.

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 16:05

@godhelpusall Oh please don’t scare me saying you started with it. I’m day 43 ish and have had it for 2 days.
Sending hugs to you and I feel the same. Hope your daughter’s tummy is unrelated and just temporary.

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 16:13

@Moodgie no she's been ill with it for 4 weeks. Up and down but again, not going away. Don't worry about the backache- it could be muscular. Especially with all the lying down.

alittleprivacy · 18/04/2020 16:14

@alittleprivacy that is reassuring. Were you seen in the covid or non covid section?

Non covid. That said, I couldn't help but overhear a few other patients hearing their test results and it seemed like at least half were there being assessed for chest/lung issues. (To be fair, it was the quietest A&E experience I ever had!)

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 16:19

@godhelpusall Fingers crossed it is just a little dip for her.

Egghead68 · 18/04/2020 16:22

I am getting a lot of backache. I think/hope it’s deconditioning, posture and the extra effort of breathing.

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 16:29

@Egghead68 Is this a new thing for you as well?

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 16:46

@alittleprivacy can I just ask what day you’re on, I have a history of clots and due to the fact that I’ve been in bed for four weeks im mindful that anytime I mention chest pain the GP advises me to go and get checked. I don’t feel bad enough for that, my biggest fear is that i’d go in at 28 days of Covid and get fobbed off or have to justify why im there.

Linus1972 · 18/04/2020 16:47

@Moodgie I'm on day 29. I also got a pain in my lower back today, as a result of coughing while in an odd position. It's probably partly due to me doing very little exercise or walking, normally a cough wouldn't cause anything like that. I used to average 10,000 steps a day, it's now 2,500. My DH also has developed back pain too and he recovered 2 weeks ago, but I suspect it's the same issue, lack of going out and regular activity.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 16:47

@alittleprivacy sorry, I thought I’d started with congratulations on such a positive check up and reassurance x

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 16:58

@Linus1972 Are you both lower back? I am upper back, kind of under my shoulder blades.

onlinelinda · 18/04/2020 17:09

@alittleprivacy, that's really good. You must be relieved.

@godhelpusall I felt miserable like that on Wednesday, after a two day dip (on top of dips at either end of the week previously). In my case, the chills and ill feeling was for one hour Tuesday and two hours Wednesday night-so I take it that my immune system is more on it.

But I don't really know. Try to take heart, as I think you will pick up again. Try to eat well, with protein and healthy carbs, fruit and veg, if you can.

Dorual · 18/04/2020 17:13

Checking in on day 18.

What is with the yellow/grey/pale skin colour? Urgh I look so sickly.

alittleprivacy · 18/04/2020 17:21

@TheDrsWife46 Calculates.......... 33. Cry! I had 20 days initially. 4 days of perfect health. Then started having trouble breathing and a really painful right lung. I'm on day 9 of that now. I hadn't intended going in to the hospital, I just called my GP as I had it in my head that maybe I'd get an inhaler or something but she wanted me to get a full once over.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 17:35

@alittleprivacy sorry to grill you, its because my friend and my aunt both in hospitals have urged me to still go to the hospital to get checked out, and I’ve been triaged away that many times due to my oximeter reading. Did you take yourself in? And did you explain it was post Covid symptoms? Its to try and alleviate my own worries about looking like a time waster if I do want to go. X

Egghead68 · 18/04/2020 18:20

@Moodgie no I have had back pain since near the start on and off

@TheDoctorsWife46 I got a check-up with ECG etc in A&E but it was only after 111 had told me to call a Doctor, the doctor had told me to call 999 and then I got myself there as there were no ambulances. A&E said that if I needed to go again it would have to be via the same route (111 and then possibly a doctor), I don’t know what would happen if you just showed up there. They weren’t overly (at all) sympathetic when I saw them (and I am in the shielding group).

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 18:21

@Dorual I think I had that. Then I went red, cheeks a bit burny. Looks healthier though!

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 18/04/2020 18:34

@Needsomegoodnews I would go back to your GP again if you still have a temp of 38 after all this time.

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 18:44

Sorry for keeping asking these questions. Anyone felt this complete exhaustion before getting better? Trying to pin it to postviral still. I think the only time I have felt like that was with a tummy bug, feeling ill and totally fatigued (without the gastro stuff).
