A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Moodgie · 18/04/2020 12:13

Also does anyone feel a bit phlegmy down below throat and can’t get rid of it?

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 12:14

@Needsomegoodnews I wonder what t he e long term effects might be?

Needsomegoodnews · 18/04/2020 12:16

@godhelpusall that’s the million dollar question! Fingers crossed..

Needsomegoodnews · 18/04/2020 12:22

I’m loving seeing some positive progress reports from some of you (@Bornlazy, @Casino218, @longshot, @Gunner30, @TheWooisStrong and anyone else who’s having a good day). It’s so reassuring when you’re feeling stuck in a rut so THANK YOU.

I think I’d feel better if I could just shift the low grade fever as that makes me feel something is ‘wrong’ more than the occasional stabby chest and the weakness and fatigue which I can logically relate to recovery.

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 12:36

@onlinelinda
Thank you for the support!
Yes I will add that along with gastric issues, and tremors and shakes.

Please sign my petition to have more awareness about this virus so that we can attempt to lower the spread

Gah! I feel like I am on the verge of having chills again. It's colder today but I don't seem to have much control of my temperature if you know what I mean.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 18/04/2020 12:51

Coming back with a positive update. Five weeks for me now.

I had a bit of a relapse earlier in the week when I tried to do to much exercise and got a slightly raised temp and felt shattered the next day so I couldn't get off the sofa.

However generally I am mostly better. Doing normal things around the house. Temp is down. Can go for short walks. Still have a constant stream of mucus down the back of my throat and some lung stiffness / back pain when I breathe too deep.

My plan is to gradually walk further each day but not attempt anything more challenging in a cardio vascular sense than a slowish stroll for a while.

Wishing the rest of you a speedy recovery.

WorriesomeDad · 18/04/2020 12:51

Cheers @Gunner30, today has been good, so far. It’s just such a pleasure when I do feel almost normal. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone I suppose. Hang in there everyone.

@TheWooisStrong hmmm interesting, might leave it a bit longer before I risk a beer!

everythingisginandroses · 18/04/2020 12:52

@Needsomegoodnews - I am still with you in the low-grade fever queens club (day 33 here). Also tired and lungs aching on and off. I am not checking our thermometer much any more as I know it's not too accurate - 38 just now, but it's probably in the low-mid 37s really. At times I think it's been normal or near-normal, it just fluctuates frustratingly Sad I'm ignoring it as much as I can and trying to rest, it'll go when it goes...

Back at work now: started 50% hours on day 21, 75% last week, back to f/t next week. I'm not sure I should be working f/t really, but I can WFH, it's a kind of normality and work is quiet at the moment, so I'm hoping that as long as I don't get stressed things will be ok.

Tangledyarn · 18/04/2020 12:52

@Coleoptera Yeah I've had stomach issues, upset stomach, feeling sick and pain under where my left lung is. Struggle to eat big amounts as I feel very bloated and it seems to trigger episodes of being v breathless still, but things are beginning to improve (week 6) x

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 12:52

Day 39/42 I am so tired, yesterday I struggled to get though my usual tasks my body was almost resisting my movements. I carried on and had a sore chest by the time I went to bed. I took my inhaler to sort my mild breathing issues and some Kalms and had 8hrs sleep but have woken feeling a knackered. I have more of a cough today this feels like it may be productive. Hopefully a sign I am on the mend but I can’t handle the tiredness, as both DH and I are ill and exhausted and our kids are now fine.

Thank you to those who have signed my petition above I am hoping more awareness will help to raise awareness about the ones in the middle and how hard this is on us.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 18/04/2020 12:53

@Needsomegoodnews how high is your low grade fever? Mine was persistently at 37.8 for 26 days. It came down after antibiotics.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/04/2020 12:56

I've posted this on the main board as well, but thought it might be if interest to PP here as well. NHS is looking for plasma from those recovered who tested positive or had symptoms, needs to be over 28 days later. I'm unsure how they will test for eligibility though considering most people don't seem to have been able to get tested, possibly contacts perhaps not sure. Link here anyway

This might be interesting to some of you- NHS is asking for donations of blood plasma from those who have either tested positive or had symptoms.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/04/2020 12:57

Just remembered I had a transfusion after surgery in recent years so can't do it anyway.

Meercatmama · 18/04/2020 12:59

Checking in on day 34
Woke up this morning feeling a bit off , bit wheezy and the cough is back again with some back ache, However after a lovely hot bath and a 10 min walk and fresh air coming in from the open back door now starting to feel a bit better. Still got the on/off back ache but I am able to do things. Husband on day 20 he went on the walk with me and is able to move around but still feels a bit tight across his chest, He is still having the bloating symptoms after eating which leads to the chest tightening and breathing problems but is coping.

@Coleoptera I had diarrhoea at the beginning but my husband has had stomach pains, bloating and constipation.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 13:59

Wow some great stories here today. So motivating.

@Orangeblossom78 I’ve reposted your plasma request on another thread where people who tested positive were gathered. Tagged you in there but hopefully it’ll reach more of those eligible. Wish it was me who’d had a test.

Casino218 · 18/04/2020 14:34

Can I just stress that people must keep up their fluid intake. About 3 litres daily. It helps the body get rid of toxins and stops sputum getting sticky that attracts bacteria x

onlinelinda · 18/04/2020 14:35

@coleopetra that sounds like a gallstones attack. Stop eating now and get medical advice, since it's getting worse. You may in addition need to not eat all day then see tomorrow?

Moodgie · 18/04/2020 14:40

So good to hear positive stories. I have zero energy so lying in bed, plus have this annoying mucus or something in my throat that I can’t get rid of. Feel like breathing also not as good as it was yesterday. So deflated again.

onlinelinda · 18/04/2020 14:40

@godhelpusall that's exactly how I felt-as if cv had broken my internal thermostat. I'm now day 35 and I've not had it since Wednesday. I had a few false starts. So maybe you're nearly there?

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 14:46

@onlinelinda I've been fine for the last four days but today I feel a bit chilly again. But it is colder today.

Needsomegoodnews · 18/04/2020 14:57

@godhelpusall I get that chilly feeling too, I feel as if I’ve got bare legs and it’s properly cold but I’m wearing jeans and it’s not even that cold - yesterday my fever spiked again right after. Although that reminds me how much I’ve improved to actually be dressed!

stayathomegardener · 18/04/2020 14:59

@Coleoptera I'm starting to lean to that way of thinking too.
Image is a list of unusual reflux symptoms.

@everythingisginandroses I think you’re probably right, I should probably just not monitor it (ignorance is bliss and all that) but sometimes I feel very hot and flushed and worry it’s getting worse. @GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit the temp is generally up to 38 (only once was it slightly over), had it for over 3 weeks, then it was down for a few days, now back up. Have had antibiotics but no change.

alittleprivacy · 18/04/2020 15:25

Maybe a bit of good news here too. I called my GP this week due to having developed a sharp pain in my right lung on breathing following my initial recovery from mystery respiratory illness. She sent me to A&E for a batch of tests. A pretty terrifying place to be considering that if my mystery illness wasn't Covid, I was at the hospital with a bad lung. The doctor treating me feels that in all likelihood I did have Covid as enough of my symptoms matched and that I now have post-viral pleurisy. Which should clear up with rest in a few weeks.

The good news is that the tests I had showed no signs of a bacterial infection or of any sort of lung damage. And my ecg showed my heart is fine. So as annoying as the forever and ever this recovery is taking, it should eventually be complete.
