Just in case we have more crimes, murders and general mischief to confess to.

Please leave your shoes at the door, have a Dettol wash and then stand awkwardly while not consuming any perishables.

Ironic smiles and head tilts are ALOUD but absolutely no laughter, fun or enjoying yourselves.

Disinfectant and disposable whips will be provided.

Hugs to you @LilacTree1, I too have these days where everything can be soothed with a bath/book/this thing will end soon mentality etc, but others I'm just a mess of panic and worry about the future.

LilacTree1 · 20/04/2020 16:35

I’d be more likely to use the AK47 on a yoga type.

If I didn’t have mum to worry about it, I’d be out protesting.

Maxandezra · 20/04/2020 16:38

evening all (or is afternoon still??)
lilac you can actually go out more than once a day - those police guidelines even said this if there was a reasonable explanation. If a walk in the morning, then again later would help you maybe you could try that. can you distract youself with anything nice? Sometimes it does all just get too much. Hang in there.

isabelle hope the ankle isnt too painful

Been to work. wasnt too bad. We've all been given an Easter Egg (!) by the Trust.

Came home and dragged ds2 out for a run. he did 1 mile, I managed 3. Bit hot out there for running though!

Dh now cooking dinner as he hasn't had to go into work today

Must remember I am NOT drinking alcohol on weekdays!

Haven't done much killing today actually (being at work as an NHS clinician does make this tricky!)
I feel some online shopping is called for to make up for my behaviour!

May the Lord Open

ISaySteadyOn · 20/04/2020 16:38

@LilacTree1, I know what you mean. I hope you feel better soon which is a sort of not v helpful thing to say but I do mean it.

Sometimes I think there is a gleeful cruelty behind some of these measures and it reminds me of Puritanism.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 20/04/2020 17:22

Oh @LilacTree1 sorry you feel this way. It can become very claustrophobic and the heat won't help.

However, if you can and have the public spaces to do so, you can go out as much as you need. It might help if when you feel like this you just grab your keys and go, just to show yourself you still can.

I can't help on the money side ,no one know what will happen or how,and the uncertainty doesn't help.

After a productive school day I've put a chicken in to roast because I clearly don't play by the rules. I'm doing roasties and Yorkshire puds too. I've really struggled to get hold of any 'proper' food in our local supermarket but a trip to the tiny Sainsbury's slightly further afield proved fruitful.

LilacTree1 · 20/04/2020 17:37

Princess “However, if you can and have the public spaces to do so, you can go out as much as you need. It might help if when you feel like this you just grab your keys and go, just to show yourself you still can.”

Neighbours are gleefully reporting.

Maxandezra · 20/04/2020 18:07

but you are allowed lilac the police guidelines say so, and Im sure that if the police did quesiton you could explain it was needed for your mental health which very defintitely is a valid reason.
I spoke with a police officer this week (work/patient related) and she was extremely sensible and very sympathetic to the stresses of this current situation and the tension it is causing for everyone.

Willow2017 · 20/04/2020 18:12

Hugs Lilac i second/third just going out if you need to. Screw the neighbours none of thier beeswax.

Work was better today but who knew making coffee was so hard? I am going to be the worlds worst barista😂😂
Hsvent checked out any batshit threads yet i am scared to look these days. My heart sinks when i ser a "can i do this" thread because i know whats coming. I just think please dont ask just make your own mind up or you will have bollocks spouted at you.

TheGreatWave · 20/04/2020 18:36

lilac sorry that today is hard, it is ok to be finding the situation difficult.

I hope you manage to get out for a walk this evening, but you have done another day, you can do this.

@LilacTree1 pop out when you need to, you really won't get in trouble. And offload to your banana comrades, you've got this sistah

LilacTree1 · 20/04/2020 20:48

The thing about popping out, apart from neighbours and police everywhere, there’s so much to make you feel worse. People looking for coins etc.

Benches taped off so feeling like you have to march fast or police will have something to say.

I think perhaps I need to tell myself I’m not well and just watch TV. Perhaps trying to be constructive is making it worse.

I’m cheered by protests in America but it’s easier for them in cars. If they tried that in London, the Tube would know immediately.

Mum and discussed simply breaking rules now but then when I’m not there, as the neighbours have caught hysteria, they won’t help with anything because they’ll think she’s got the virus in her house.

No wonder people think of conspiracy theories; sometimes those ideas are far saner than what is actually happening worldwide. No way out.

LilacTree1 · 20/04/2020 20:50

I’m now going to watch Killing Eve in the hope that gratuitous violence will cheer me up.

Thank goodness dad - HCP - is dead. I just hope he’s really unable to see this! Properly dead.

loobyloo1234 · 20/04/2020 20:57

@LilacTree1

Today’s been a really shit day. I think it’s a Monday feeling and knowing we’re still another 3 weeks from properly seeing loved ones

I did however go to M&S today and bought myself some flowers. And then I popped a bday card and present to my DF’s (dropped at door, waited for him to answer and had a social distancing chat) I think if you’re really down don’t worry about your snitchy neighbours. You are allowed out. Despite what ppl keep telling us 😊

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 21/04/2020 00:09

@LilacTree1 fuck the neighbours. Well actually just tell them to fuck themselves. Repeatedly. With a chair.

Try and take it one day at a time ,looking at it in weeks/months it can be really overwhelming and claustrophobic. It can feel "too much " of everything, being in,missing people, worrying etc.

And rant ,shout and wobble on here as much as you need. It is shit.

Hell's teeth! There is another one! OP goes to a park with DCs and stops for a snack before setting off home. Police move them on.

Lots and lots of 'thin end of the wedge', 'perception', 'not in the spirit', 'you think you are special' type posts.

Anyone else looking at some of the posters and thinking 'but I thought you were sensible!'?

I need to stay here or on the allotment thread. Everwhere else is bonkers!

Willow2017 · 21/04/2020 07:01

Yep its crazy isnt it? Especially the one purporting to be in the police ranting about it not being allowed and swearing at op etc. How embarrassing for them🤣🤣

Greysparkles · 21/04/2020 08:12

I know I haven't been back to the thread it a bit.

But I have a confession.

I had a friend over at the weekend.... Shhhh
We sat apart in the garden with wine, whilst my friend cried a bit about having her 2 year old leave home to live with his dad as she's a frontline care worker in a home overrun with covid patients. 😔

Fuck the neighbours, mental health comes first for us!

As you were.... I just needed to share that to get the guilt of breaking the roolz out

GnomeDePlume · 21/04/2020 08:23

Is a water butt an essential purchase? Can I send DH (our household canary) out to get one? It will be a big one so when he gets home I could fill it with bleach then dunk him in it.

In my defence m'lud it is to irrigate my greenhouse where I grow peppers & chillis (so food).

Pinkginhelps · 21/04/2020 08:45

Morning Comrades and esteemed and virtual-ous Banana leader,

I feel very odd this morning. Well rested and no headache. Thoroughly enjoying listening to the Child's History lesson via Google Meeting. More interesting than today's self challenge of learning tricky stuff on Excel Sheets.
The murderous ball arrived yesterday, having doubtless annihilated countless hapless people on it's journey to me. I'm now happily perched on it.
And the sun is shining.....

Bless the fruit and the Blue Caped Angels of mercy

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 21/04/2020 09:11

Morning my little fluff balls of doom.

Out of all the arguments the ones that claim spirit, perceptions, optics etc piss me off the most it reminds of religious fervour and cults.

I had two murderous deliveries arrive today,so I've done my duty.

OP posts:
Catsrus · 21/04/2020 09:17

This morning I murdered a few hundred emergency workers by driving the dogs to the beach for a walk. I waved at a woman I know who was arriving as we were leaving, all kitted out for her morning swim. Wouldn't be surprised if the reckless hussy is on this thread! (Waves to A if she is - you go girl!)

I cross contaminated a few hundred more by ordering food from a local catering company - HUGE tubs of olives, wholegrain mustard and peanut butter, 10 tins of artichoke hearts for my pizza 🥰 Not sharing with anyone 😜. Mind you. Not sure how we will get through 50 baking potatoes 🤨

Yesterday I contributed to the food distribution crisis by ordering art supplies from amazon - they'll be delivered on Thursday - causing starvation to the people nor getting their tins of spam in that slot.

Pinkginhelps · 21/04/2020 09:25

This was on a frother's thread...love this poster!

*One of the scariest things about the pandemic has been the rise of frothy-mouthed, teeth-spitting, curtain-twitching self-deigned sentinels of policing thy neighbour (often those lacking critical logical analysis tools).

The almost lustful willing and yearning to gallop ever faster toward totalitarianism is absolutely shocking and disturbing.

It’s easy to see how a fascist state could emerge with a rise of mindless and nonsensical individuals finally finding their niche as newly knighted power-wielding Thought Police."*

I hope they find us......

FrangipaniBlue · 21/04/2020 09:27

Morning all!

I haven't been on over the weekend very much but should probably well and truly confess my sins - the MN Stasi really would lose their shit big style with this one......

We very sadly lost my dad last week but the hospital rang to say I could visit him before they switched the ventilator off. It's a 4 hour round trip (6 actually counting the time I sat with him/spoke to the doctors etc) and DS was too distraught and didn't want to come, so MIL came and sat in our house with him.

Fuck it I say, having lost a grandparent he needed the other.

I did notice curtain twitching from the neighbours one of whom had been "curt" with me ever since but I DONT CARE!!
