@crayfishforyou I know what you mean. My husband was ill on day 1, nothing then heartburn day 5. By ill, I mean unusually tired and headache. And that's it!

Does anyone have a recommendation for an oximeter? I've read they're inaccurate sometimes and would rather pay a little bit more for a decent one...

Lightsabre · 18/04/2020 16:06

@Notpanickingjustyet, I got one off EBay - about £20 and dh bought another one for the same price at a local chemist which was a bit cheaper. Both work fine. Sorry I've thrown the box away now so not sure who made them.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 18/04/2020 16:24

Afternoon, I was just wondering if any of you started with a really strange taste in your mouth? It's just yesterday I had this really horrible taste all day, like I know there is something not quite right but figure out what. When my dc get Ill they have this certain scent to them, so it made me wonder if there was some virus/infection I am coming down with. I partially wondered tooth infection as my gums feel weird too but today I've had aching muscles all day, especially in my thighs - really sore at times that I've had to take paracetamol. I'm probably putting 2 and 2 together and getting 16 or something crazy, but I guess in times like these it's hard not to worry over the slightest thing. I went to the supermarket last Tuesday as well so 4 days ago which is about average isn't it?

Notpanickingjustyet · 18/04/2020 16:27

@lightsabre thank you. I'll have a look.

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt I didn't start with that, I did have around day 6. My whole dinner tasted of American mustard and my smell was off.

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 16:50

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt yes I can smell a smell on all of us and I think it was @Spacecadetagain (i think?!) who said she noticed the same. I don’t have a taste in my mouth but I cant taste flavour i can only detect “sweet” but not savoury stuff etc. Im really struggling to eat because of it.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 18/04/2020 17:17

Thank you. I'm probably looking far too much into it but I know somethings not right iykwim. Guess I'll just have to wait and see and hope that whatever it is, I have it mild

BreathlessCommotion · 18/04/2020 17:37

Has anyone had problems regulating their temperature after this virus? I'm normally quite a warm person, I don't feel the cold much. But I keep getting these periods where I suddenly feel really cold, can't get warm. Still having fever/cold sweats at night.

I've been for a walk today, not cold on walk. Got home, heating is on after an hour I am freezing, shivering, sitting on the radiator!

Darcydashwood · 18/04/2020 18:01

Hello all. Was just hoping to get some opinions on how I’m feeling. As Don’t want to be alarmist and I do have health anxiety so am conscious my anxiety might be causing physical symptoms.

I had a bit of a cough earlier in the week - sort of kept having to clear my throat, and more after doing exercise. Nothing dramatic and certainly wouldn’t consider it continuous. No fever. Then on Thursday o started to feel very woolly-headed, and a bit ‘out of it’ with very low energy and that’s continued through til today when I feel quite dizzy too. Almost like with a sinus type pressure. I wondered if it could be hay fever but I didn’t have itchy eyes or sneezing etc?

I do not want this to be covid as I have a higher BMI than Is ideal and am terrified of getting it so my anxiety has been steadily building to the point of a couple of near panic attacks.

Does this sound like it could be covid? Would love any opinions. Thank you

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/04/2020 18:04

Hi @Darcy. Honestly, it could be but w such mild symptoms it would be hard to tell. If you are lucky they wont develop and you'll be left not knowing. I certainly would try not to be too anxious at this point.

If things do develop they come join us in these threads and share your anxieties. It really helps.

UncomfortableBadger · 18/04/2020 18:48

@BreathlessCommotion Yes, temperature issues here too; I’m on day 22 or 23 now.

Last night I felt suddenly wretched - really cold & couldn’t stop shivering. Only thing that helped was a hot water bottle - extra blankets, duvets etc did nothing. So frustrating as I’d had four good days prior to that. Feeling ok again today though. Hate feeling so up and down.

Keepdistance · 18/04/2020 18:49

Day 15?
Tight chest and sore eyes?

I had thought i was wrong about being ill (definitely had sore throat and cough) as maybe it was hayfever tablets causing anxiety symptoms. Like the chills i had as i was getting that in the night when dp was coughing.
Also not been hungry for days.

Anyone had sore eyes as a later symptom?

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/04/2020 19:03

@Keepdistancing. Yes me! Thought it was hayfever, though I dont usually get that til May, then realised that the soreness was coming and going with other symptoms eg breathlessness.

Darcydashwood · 18/04/2020 19:08

Hi @Porcupineinwaiting thank you for the reply. I’ve just stuck my head over a bowl of hot water and vicks in the hope it is just congestion and this might clear my head. It’s not uncommon for me to have this sort of issue - but obviously at the moment it’s hard to see past Covid in terms of what might be wrong with you. I’ve only been a shop a couple of times since lockdown and only the go the park for a little walk or run, but my DH goes to work every day so we are not isolated by any means.

As you say hopefully it won’t develop any further. It’s just hard for me to deal with feeling anything less than brilliant at the moment - as that’s when the fear creeps in. Just going to have to take it a day at a time I guess. Thank you

TheDrsWife46 · 18/04/2020 20:05

@UncomfortableBadger and @BreathlessCommotion i struggle with being cold. Im getting tingly/buzzing sensations all over my legs and if i get cold it gets uncontrollable with shaking/twitching. Ive got a body length hotwater bottle and every night ive slept in a dressing gown, quilt and the hot water bottle to try to combat the chills/nerve tingles

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 20:54

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt

I have had 3 days of an almost poisonous taste in my mouth especially when I wake up. I have jaw pain in the left side and was worried about a tooth (which seems to be fine) I am on antibiotics for my
Sinuses/ tooth infection from 111 and this has has no change to the situation at all. It is vile. Gargle warm salt water to kill the infection if it is your tooth.

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 20:55

I also had sore thighs and calves

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 20:57

I should also add I’ve been sick 42 days now

MyBeloved · 18/04/2020 21:20

I get cold feet, not sure if it is related or not, but it has coincided with the c19.

May I ask whether anyone has used a blue inhaler for the chest symptoms? I found an old one in my drawer and think it makes a difference.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 18/04/2020 21:29

@BreathlessCommotion I'm still having the temperature (up then down) issues along with sudden sore throat. Have no idea why this is still going on but also this has sent my thyroid into a bit of a whirl as well.

But thanks to this thread I have taken the view that recovery is going to be somewhat protracted and have adjusted my expectations. I got some sense of peace from this. I do have asthma, not badly but I am more vulnerable and my view has shifted to trying to preserve what lung function I have presently.

So today I went around the block at a snail pace. Was out of breath by the time I approached home then utterly exhausted afterwards chest now very painful again but I realise I have to try not to allow it to stop me from doing what I can physically.

I have also ordered a salt pipe from Amazon. Hopefully it will help clear sinuses a bit.

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/04/2020 21:29

I use my blue inhaler a bit when the coughs bad. It helps a little bit but not as much as if it was asthma.

MyBeloved · 18/04/2020 21:37

Thanks, porcupine. How are you feeling now?

Another question I have is, when can I go outside? It has been around 2 weeks since my symptoms began, and I'm not coughing. I have overwhelming fatigue and that bastard Alberto the elephant who squashes my chest and back, but would really like to try a little walk if it's safe to...

Starrynightsabove · 18/04/2020 22:06

You can go out after 7 days

Elzbells · 18/04/2020 22:50

I've got no idea if I have it or not. I'm on day 14, during this time I've had a cough/congested sinuses/runny nose/sore throat/rapid heartbeat/breathlessness/slight temp/felt like shit.

It feels like each day I wake up feeling ok and then by 10am I can look forward to whatever daily challenge I have in store. Feeling like I couldn't breathe in was a highlight. Today it was the heart palpitations that woke me up as each I could feel each thump.

Today I've had really bad heart palpitations where I can actually feel the extra beats, my whole mouth feels like I've burnt it, sore throat, feel like I've ulcers everywhere but haven't. I woke up yesterday morning and felt great so cleaned the house and half an hour later was breathless and knackered again.

Elzbells · 18/04/2020 22:54

Oh and my heart rate is easily running at least 30bpm over normal if I compare to Feb/Jan.

Not to mention the occasional stabbing pains in heart/chest/head

I've never at any point felt my life is in threat but it's still crap to feel rubbish for so long. Hayfever meds don't work, paracetamol doesn't work - nothing seems to touch it apart from time.

pinkoneblueone · 19/04/2020 01:36

@Elzbells I think you are right sounds like you do have it. Welcome to the place we never expected to find ourselves. Drink lots and lots of water, hot drinks, keep the paracetamol regular and listen to your body when it says rest. We are all in the same boat here.
