Hi everyone. I hope people managed to sleep last night.
I'm in that weird "is it/isn't it" phase. On Friday I had a killer headache and exhausted, along with a cough I assumed it was hayfever after a couple of days in the garden. Then yesterday I was absolutely exhausted. Fell asleep a few times watching films with the kids and just had zero get up and go at all. Again the cough wasn't constant but is definitely not my "asthma" cough and not like a usual chest infection cough (hence assuming it was hayfever). Today I have more energy but I was coughing a lot in the night. I get hot in the night but no temp in the day, oh and today I feel a little dizzy and had a bit of an upset stomach? It's all so odd and so frustrating that there is no way to know if you have it unless you get as poorly as some of you have been.
X

Oh and I completely forgot to mention, my ribs feel like someone has been booting them.

TheSheepofWallSt · 19/04/2020 10:48

Hey all thought I’d just report back on the hayfever/ Covid conundrum.

DS and I both perfectly well- except for a productive cough that is bringing phlegm from the base of my throat/upper chest for me, and am losing my voice a bit - and the cough is just chesty and productive for him- but that’s usual for this time of year for DS, so who knows whether it’s asthma and allergies or ...

This is Day 6 since starting to have any kinds of symptoms at all (headache, sore eyes etc came first) and would say I’ve properly had a cough for ...3?

Not been hit by the fatigue that other people are talking about, or chesty symptoms. Well self isolate until Friday at least (a week started to ”officially” - but we’d had minimal, socially distanced contact with anyone else and not been anywhere for a month before) and then I’ll speak to our GP about whether we should self isolate for another week if we’re still coughing.

No fever at any point for either of us.

Either we’ve had/got Covid and been extremely lucky, or we’ve got/had hayfever or another seasonal virus and overreacted.

Guess we’ll never know without testing... my strong feeling is it isn’t Covid given the mildness of the symptoms, but who knows.

Lightsabre · 19/04/2020 11:08

Morning all, sorry to those who are developing symptoms - it's crap and we all seem to have such a wide range of experiences.

Day 23 here and don't feel too bad. Upper back pain seems to have eased off although it's still there. Still breathless but I feel a bit lighter in the chest. I started the antibiotics yesterday reluctantly. I'm going to sit in the garden for some sun then attempt a walk around the block. Looking at some of the people further along the line, I think there may be another dip so not counting my chickens yet!

UncomfortableBadger · 19/04/2020 11:21

Glad to hear you’re feeling a little lighter today @Lightsabre - we’re on the same day so I’ve been following your progression alongside mine Smile Know what you mean about not counting your chickens!

Reckon I overdid it on Friday (despite doing just light admin work) so the chills and shivers returned that evening. Hideous headache yesterday which wouldn’t shift with painkillers (but frankly I think it was just my usual menstrual migraine - I suffer terribly with these every month) and was exhausted by the early evening. Feeling ok today though & no chest pains for the first time in a while!

Glitterkitten24 · 19/04/2020 11:38

I think I might have symptoms! 😢
I have a very slight fever but few roasting hot to touch. My hands and feet are freezing and shivery.

I have the worst headache, and although I don’t have too much of a cough, I have a rattle/ bubbling noise in my lungs and a tightness in my chest.
I’m exhausted but not tired.

I didn’t think that sounded like Covid as I don’t have fever to speak of, but having looked on the first ‘my lungs’ thread it sounds familiar!

Any thoughts? 😢

Glitterkitten24 · 19/04/2020 11:41

Oh and my eyes ache- they feel dry and sore and more sensitive to light than normal.

Crayfishforyou · 19/04/2020 11:48

Day 20.
I can't breathe well today and feel dizzy. I'm taking deep breaths but it doesn't seem to hit the spot. Oximeter says sats at 98.
Chest pains still stabbing away.
Had a bit of a break down on the phone to DM.
DH is making anxiety comments when I check my sats.
I think I also have hayfever. I've always had to go to the GP for steroids with it in the past as none of the counter remedies help at all.
Do you think if I ring them tomorrow they would prescribe over the phone?

Porcupineinwaiting · 19/04/2020 11:50

@Crayfish I dont know whether they will prescribe your usual steroids, but there are some steroids that help with breathing being prescribed. Certainly you should ask the question

RickyBooth · 19/04/2020 11:52

Hey all sorry to jump in. Well its day 20 something here and im starting to feel better after all the symptoms like breathing, dizzy, lump in throat, gurgling lungs, Pains. are starting to give way. I just seem to have bad times of day I even got the grass cut yesterday, I was felling very off after but was a great achievement. :)

Porcupineinwaiting · 19/04/2020 11:52

@Glitterkitten24 well you certainly have something and it does sound quite a bit like COVID I'm afraid.

Dorual · 19/04/2020 12:17

Could be Glitterkitten. Keep a diary of symptoms. Order a pulse oximeter if you don't have one. Drink lots of fluids esp. Hot drinks x

Lightsabre · 19/04/2020 12:47

@Crayfishforyou, takevheart that 98% Sats are good and normal even though you are struggling with your breathing. If you've had steroids in the past I think I'd definitely ask for them again. Can you call 111 to get them today?

Crayfishforyou · 19/04/2020 13:58

@Lightsabre
It isn't urgent, I don't think I want to bother 111. It can wait until tomorrow.
I am actually having a good day today, and a week after starting the ferrous sulfate I can see some red streaks on the inside of my bottom eyelid. That's an improvement.
Onwards and upwards, with maybe a few dips along the way.

SheepSocks · 19/04/2020 16:27

I am in two minds wether my doctor gave me a knee jerk diagnosis. I haven't had a fever yet.

I am on day 6 since my symptoms have appeared, my fatigue is ridiculous, I woke up at 10.30am, went back to sleep at 12, woke up feeling refreshed at 4. Since I woke up the burning in my chest has intensified, it's not unbearable but it is more uncomfortable than before.

I've been reading through the previous threads and it does seem that everyone's symptoms are varied.

Makinganewthinghappen · 19/04/2020 18:59

Hello - so I had an upset stomach yesterday and have been a lot better today apart from having a headache all day!

I have no fever and although my throat feels I would say “thick” it’s not sore. No cough.

I have been reading the thread through since taking my last lot of painkillers for the headache Which did dull it a little and I see that people are using the oxygen monitors - I actually have one from when my daughter was younger so I am going to dig that out just in case.

So to keep track day 1 and 2 was stomach upset and day 3 headache - very slight stomach upset. I am thinking it’s NOT it at the moment based on lack of temp?

unambiguousbeard · 19/04/2020 19:52

Hi All, so delighted to be joining you. I've been scan reading the threads but no idea who is who or where or what. I'm a bit freaked out though. I'm day 6/7 and feel worse than at any other point.

Started on Bank Holiday Monday feeling sick and slight stomach cramps. Might have been brewing before as was quite low and tired. Tuesday Day 1 thought I had a migraine. Headache and tired all day, took migraine meds. By evening had temp woke drenched in the night. Not too bad day 3/4/5. Bit tired and achy bit tight chested slight cough. Then yesterday felt terrible all day just exhausted. Today I can't really function. I've been in bed all day. Every other day I've been up doing stuff a bit. Temp has been going up to 38 but generally hovers just under 37.5 but I'm normally at 36.5

So is it normal to start feeling worse? My cough is getting worse and I have my headache back. And I'm weepy.

I'm single/co parent but ExH is a shit mainly. He's next due to have kids Tuesday evening. He has the virus but is a few days behind me and says he can't have them in the day as WFH. Which has been fine up to now but I can't see how I can look after them if I'm like this. The older one put pizza in for them just now. Younger has ASD but she's great just needs entertaining constantly.

I don't know what I'm asking/posting. I'm just used to illnesses where you start feeling better not worse.

I'm early 50s, quite fit. Have terrible hayfever which can go to my chest. But no underlying health problems. Oh apart from hypothyroid.

I think I want someone to tell me that it's normal to feel worse around day 7 and doesn't mean I'm about to get pneumonia. There is no one to ring 111 for me or look after me. I have to look after myself so I have to be ok. And the kids dad will only have them if I really go downhill

unambiguousbeard · 19/04/2020 19:55

@Glitterkitten24 i didn't have a cough really. I only noticed it because it's a "symptom". I would have assumed hayfever.

Also re temperature. It friends what your normal one is. If I go above 37 I know I'm unwell with a temp but a GP would say that was normal

Crayfishforyou · 19/04/2020 19:59

@unambiguousbeard
Day 7 was my worst.
From day 10 I've had good days and bad.
Keep posting on here for support, your situation sounds really hard Flowers
Try to keep as still as you can, I appreciate this must be extremely difficult, and lie on your front you help diminish pneumonia chances.

unambiguousbeard · 19/04/2020 20:11

Thank you @Crayfishforyou that's what I wanted to hear!

I've had flu loads if times; you start at your worst and then after about a week you start to feel better. This is like the opposite I think that's why I wanted reassurance. I would expect to be feeling better not worse. This started off so mild. It's not mild now. I don't mind a few days like this if I know that's how the disease progresses.

Lightsabre · 19/04/2020 22:59

@unambiguousbeard, unfortunately no- one can say how it will go for you but it does seem that the symptoms come in waves. A lot of people on these threads have gradually worsened over a week to ten days then stabilise and get better but the recovery can be a long time. Occasionally, people go to hospital but it seems some areas take people in with much lower thresholds. It all depends on how you can manage at home.

Extreme fatigue seems to be very common in the early stages. It must be very difficult with young children. I honestly couldn't get out of bed for the first week - my dh had to support me to the loo. Arm yourself with a thermometer and an oximeter (this measures your oxygen saturation levels - about £20 on EBay if you don't have one). Take paracetamol and don't be afraid to keep phoning your GP or even 111 if you need to if you feel your condition is worsening.

Crayfishforyou · 19/04/2020 23:01

It's a very strange virus.
This morning after having a shower I thought I was going to collapse.
Now i feel as though i just have a bad cold.

unambiguousbeard · 19/04/2020 23:33

Oh I haven't bothered my GP. What can he do? Tell me to rest which I can't and take paracetamol.

Yes earlier I was unable to move out of bed and crying. Scared I was getting really ill. However I'm totally fine now. It's very weird. And I must remember how up and down it is.

Porcupineinwaiting · 20/04/2020 00:11

Hi @unambiguousbeard sorry you are joining us but welcome.

Ime (sadly now extensive) it is totally normal to feel worse and worse each day for the first 10-12/13 days or so. It doesnt mean you are going to become severe but of course that is what you need to watch out for. After that, if you are lucky, you'll just get well, alternatively you may go into the pattern of good days and bad days in which case you'll be sick a while longer.

Right now you need to drink loads (litres), eat at least something every day and rest as much as possible. If your older dd can keep you all fed in some form then let her - even if its cereal, toast a d pizza. Forget housework, forget the washing - even during times you feel.a bit better. Nothing will make you worse quicker than physical exertion.

And yes, it comes over you in waves. Mine always used to start up at 2am annoyingly.

Crayfishforyou · 20/04/2020 03:49

Hello everyone
Start of day 21
I am having a bad night. Woke up for a wee hours ago and went freezing cold.
My armpits are hurting again and the 3am demons are telling me my immune system is attacking my body and I'm going to die from pneumonia.
I just can't sleep
