Checking in again to say it seems a classic symptom to go downhill in the evenings.

@JackJackIncredible I'd be really interested too in things to look out for in secondary infection.

Isadora2007 · 09/04/2020 21:37

Pneumonia would normally present with fever, increased heart rate, chest pain, low oxygen saturation levels (under 95%) crackles on chest...

stayathomegardener · 09/04/2020 21:58

Thanks isadora only chest pain and dubious oximeter readings at times so hopefully not.

2BWell · 09/04/2020 22:04

@taffyapple8 Hey, thanks for the new thread and info. I will read up

isitorisntit · 09/04/2020 22:04

Breast bone pain all day, like before I had the antibiotics 2 weeks ago. Chest tight and coughing more. Worst I've felt in a week. Why, why, why? Day 27.

Number12 · 09/04/2020 22:04

Hi all, I really need some advice! Sooo today I started with a cough, I started with a kind of irritated tickle to one side of my throat/neck a few weeks ago its gradually moved down and it become harder to ignore and this evening the bloody cough. I never get coughs so I really feel that Im doomed, I've been incredibly careful.

I am so scared. I have done everything possible to avoid getting it too. What do I need to do to prepare? Please help Sad

Spacecadetagain · 09/04/2020 22:12

Evening everyone .. Day 27 and although I feel like I have a bit more energy .. I felt terrible yesterday and spent the day resting.., third day today of antibiotics and not really seeing a difference ... actually felt quite good last night .. sinuses didn’t feel so inflamed and breathing was quite good . Got up this morning feeling ok so stupidly decided to go outside and get the garden chairs out if the shed . Big mistake . Felt as though I’d been kicked in the chest by a horse .. and really congested ... and breathless... spent the rest of the day feeling horrific and by the evening very panicky as nose felt really congested almost as though I had an obstruction.. after some steaming blew out some gluey rubbish .. so think sinuses are badly inflamed .. chest feels really rattly at the top and have been coughing a lot.. was reminded on phone by best friend though that I stopped smoking 11 days ago and some of it could be down to that ..... so utterly fed up of the ups and downs of this.. it’s exhausting 🙁

Having chest pains and am breathless just lying in bed. So hard to know what's anxiety and what's unwell.

OP posts:
kevintheorangecarrot · 09/04/2020 22:16

Really hoping everyone has a quick recovery... this virus is honestly a B! My heartburn is driving me insane and will see tomorrow if the breathless comes back. I'm already feeling very tired but I am struggling to sleep due to anxiety/insomnia/overthinking! I also requested to pay private for a covid 19 antibody test from surescreen (I think that's what the company is called), but they're only selling to businesses, not individuals... I just want to flipping know already!

2BWell · 09/04/2020 22:20

@woofwoof50 I am on day 32 and still feeling like my lungs are on fire. My skin on my chest is painful to touch. I had the CoVid-19 test done yesterday. I basically had to demand it from my PCP. He complied. I should know something in 4-5 days. I have had 2 ER visits, 1 Rheumatology visit, 1 Primary Care which sent me to 1 Cardiologist visit and loads of Prednisone IV, Injection and three weeks of oral. Then I was told to take Advil 400mg 3x/day and no relief. The lymph glands did resolve somewhat but the main symptom with me is burning lungs, headache, rapid heart rate with palpitations and a heavy pressure on my chest. None of these symptoms are listed as CoVid-19 that I am aware of and I feel like this is so totally wrong. I have been through a lot and never felt like this before.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 22:25

Hi @Number12

Please try not to worry. If (and it is if) you have this thing then the worry is the worst thing about it. So try and stay calm.

Who is in your household with you?

2BWell · 09/04/2020 22:37

@TheDrsWife46 Hi there, I am day 32 with symptoms and I want to thank you for all that you have done to bring up awareness of odd symptoms that may or may not be related to CoVid-19. It has a lot of people sharing and this is a good thing in a time like this. I am new to this group and really new to this type of chat and I have learned so much. Unfortunately you and many other’s are suffering without clear answers. I just wanted again to say thank you and i also am suffering with such strange symptoms and not able to sleep. I am 59 and have a history with Sarcoidosis which is in my lymph glands and some scarring in my left lung. The way that I feel now is nothing like when I had Sarcoidosis in 2013-14. I did have a Co-Vid-19 test done yesterday and will have to wait 4-5 days for the results before anymore testing can be done; Enhanced CT of Lungs and Echo-Cardiogram. My CoVid test will have to come back — before anything else happens. Wishing you a peaceful night.

Number12 · 09/04/2020 22:39

Hi @Porcupineinwaiting thank you for replying! I am a big worrier but I never get coughs. I've got my dh here, he thinks the chances of me having it are miniscule, but I think I have a better understanding of bugs and germs than him so I know how easy it would be to catch. Everyone else in the house has been coughing since before Christmas!

I suppose their is a chance its hay fever but I've never had this reaction before! I have a very dry throat, which has one very irritated spot which if I press I will cough. No temperature.

I am doing my best to distract myself but felt I should get prepared.

Rhi11 · 09/04/2020 22:51

Hi . Today I got told I tested positive for Corona. I work on the front line. I'm on day 4 . Keep having panic attack from the chest pain. And sob scary time for all of us.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 22:59

Ok @Number12, so if you have it (or think you might) it would be best if you isolate yourself from the rest of your household. Can you do that?

Then you need to drink lots (really lots - tea, squash, juice, water) and rest. Take vit C and d and zinc every day if you have them.

If it is COVID then it would be useful if you had some way of measuring your temperature (ie a thermometer) and some way of measuring your breathing (look up Roth test unless you have a pulse oximeter or peak flow meter) and pulse.

Other than that, paracetamol, tissues and cough sweets - but you may not need any of them, it can be very mild. And if it isnt, post on here for support.

Number12 · 09/04/2020 23:01

@Rhi11 I'm so sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed that you will have minimal if any symptoms. Let us know how you get on. x (a very in unmumsnet x!)

I think distraction is key for the time being.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 23:04

@Rhi11 welcome to the thread none of us want to be on. It is scary- both because if the symptoms and the press. Also those pulses of adrenaline do seem to be part of it. I had horrendous attacks of anxiety/panic over the first 10 days, esp when trying to fall asleep. Hmm

Does paracetamol help w the pain?

Just have to get through it 1 hour at a time. Sleep if you can, rest if you cant. Distract yourself w something stupid on telly. Drink plenty.

Rhi11 · 09/04/2020 23:07

All the horror stories don't help. But we need to be positive as best we can. The chest / back pain is on and off with burning sensation. I can't wait to be able to eat with out struggling. Wish everyone speedy recovery

Number12 · 09/04/2020 23:09

I@Porcupineinwaiting I have all of that apart from the pulse thingy. I'll get it all together tomorrow. I can isolate at home but dh is keyworker and pulled out working from home.(NHS) so not sure how that would work. Because everyone e!se in the house has been coughing for months I've no idea if im the first to get it.

Callimanco · 09/04/2020 23:14

Rhi - I had what I suspect to have been a very mild dose of CV a month ago. The stand out features at the beginning were dizziness, diarrhea but most strangely, panic attacks and jitteriness over the first 48 hours. I was experiencing severe anxiety symptoms despite not being at all worried about the illness (at the time, we were only being told to be suspicious of high temp and cough, neither of which I had at that time.). I had a racing heart and sleeplessness for a week. It was only once that subsided that the "anxiety" and panic attacks disappeared. I really think they were actually part of the disease process - like an artefact, arising from my fast heart rate and immune response.

Was never tested so don't know for sure of course, but I wonder if jitteriness/panic attacks/ anxiety are part of the course of the disease.

Taffyapple8 · 09/04/2020 23:16

Was just lying in bed and was hyper aware of my breathing and then had this overwhelming sensation of choking. I shot up and was frantically clearing my throat but it still feels stuck there. I did use a sinus spray earlier so whether it's dislodged stuff I don't know. I had also drunk some gaviscon 10 mins before. I got in the shower to calm myself down but I felt so shaky and light headed. I don't even know why I'm posting this. Just hoping someone can relate.

OP posts:
Rhi11 · 09/04/2020 23:22

I had that about 10 mins ago it felt like my throat swelled up and I couldn't breathe. It's strange how panic attack seems to be a symptom that's just not talked about. It's a scary time. It's hard because not been able to breathe can cause panic attack and last thing you need when you can't breathe is to start hyperventilating. Yeah I had the dizzyness and dizzyness for a few days now.

IV also had a very high temp over 39.4 developed a cough now too...

Spacecadetagain · 09/04/2020 23:23

@taffyapple8 I had a similiar sensation earlier and ended up having a panic attack as a result . I’ve had a sensation for the last day if so if feeling like something is pressing in my throat .. One thing I’ve noticed is I’m definitely having panic attacks as a result of this .. it’s such a scary and debilitating illness and I’ve felt so depressed

Callimanco · 09/04/2020 23:26

Rhi I was lucky, had no fever that I noticed (highest was 37.3) though I did have a sore throat and thick mucus as you and Taffy describe at the back of my throat that was sticky and hard to shift. The chest involvement was 5 days of feeling like I had inhaled powder or chili followed by a mild cough.

I'd be interested to know if other have experienced "panic attacks/jitteriness/ anxiety" in the early part of the illness.

Taffyapple8 · 09/04/2020 23:28

It felt like mucous or something but who knows. It totally resulted in a panic attack. Was trembling and shaking for a while after wards and my fingers still feel a bit numb. I have noticed I get this sensation of freezing cold pinprick feeling on my skin but I notice them more when I'm anxious
