@WanderingLost167, maybe it was too soon to exercise? It's so frustrating not being able to lead a normal life I find but the advice seems to be rest, rest and rest some more. I think it will be a 4-6 week recovery for most of us.

Taffyapple8 · 10/04/2020 10:02

Day 12ish. The cough has started.

ineedsun · 10/04/2020 10:17

Day fuck knows (they all merge into one), I had it (unconfirmed). Was very ill but at home for about 10 days, felt better but still residual respiratory issues and chest pain for a week or two.

Very acute episode a couple of days ago, had paramedics out. Coughing and severe SOB constantly for a couple of hours but no other symptoms so seemingly lung damage and asthma rather than the virus.

It's horrible and I really feel for those with underlying health issues who get it.

scubadive · 10/04/2020 10:30

Hi all, not sure if I have early symptoms but not the ones well published.

I started feeling very tired early in the week, then Wednesday felt completely washed out. Wednesday night I was hit and sweaty all night, clammy but no temperature, raging sore throat all night like never before. I’ve had the raging sore throat ever since and feeling completely washed out, also loss of taste and smell.
This would be day 3 but no temperature and no cough but I understand that the chest can get worse day 7-12.

Did anyone else start like this? I am in the vulnerable group due to asthma, recurrent chest infections, and hospitalised pneumonia so have been worried about this virus and completely self isolating for almost 3 weeks so don’t know how li have caught anything!

TheDrsWife46 · 10/04/2020 11:08

Just checking in here, im on day 19 (i think) and yesterday was my best day yet where i was just tired rather than unpleasant sensations in my body. Just to say Im around and checking in but today im aiming to try to get back in the mix with my family whilst i feel on the up

stayathomegardener · 10/04/2020 11:30

@Number12 get yourself an oximeter about £20 on Amazon/eBay

Take some high dose vitamin c preferably ascorbic acid and 10,000 idu vitamin d.

Rest and water.

LetsBeSensible · 10/04/2020 11:31

@JackJackIncredible thanks for that list
@thedrswife46 glad you are well
@Taffyapple8 sorry you’re coughing
@Meercatmama best wishes for you and DH
Welcome to the newbies, sorry you had to join...the earlier “my lungs...” threads might help with early symptoms
Day 23 I think here, a long and sweaty sleep again and already planning my afternoon nap
I have been working on getting my “table” sorted, done my regular daily pills and vitamins in the daily meds boxes. Next need to sort paracetamol, and some easy grab snacks and drinks

WanderingLost167 · 10/04/2020 11:32

Yes, I think I pushed myself too hard.

I let the fever run its course last night, it was worse that i had at the start of this but I've read it can help the bodies immune response not to try to reduce fever.

Feeling wiped out today and going to rest.

LakeFlyPie · 10/04/2020 11:34

It's so helpful to hear from folk going through the same symptoms (and lovely to hear of the recoveries). You're right Porcupine, I need to avoid the what ifs. Have worried about DP since the start as he has troublesome asthma. Every time I hear him cough I'm on tenterhooks. Feel v guilty that I've brought this into the house as he's been WFH for a month now and not been out. Need to take one hour / day at a time and stay positive. My fevers seem to have settled for now. Will try and rest and not anticipate the next symptom 😬 I'm usually v laid back, seems this virus sets a lot of people's anxiety off

MillStone · 10/04/2020 11:39

Oops just posted on thread 6 because didn't know about thread7. I hope it's okay to double post here too:

Hey all, hope everyone is coping.

I'm 20 days since subtle symptoms and 12 / 13 since the very uncomfortable.

Yesterday it was great to have a day with almost no breathing troubles or pains on my chest and back.

Today the breathlessness has returned with that need to constantly take an unsatisfactory deep breathe. I'm also zonked.

I wonder if anyone can relate to 3 interesting observations I've made.

Last night, following a 'good day' I was able to sleep in a lower position on my side for the 1st time in about 10 days. Today I feel rotten I wonder if the position could be partly responsible. Has anyone tested this consistently? Tonight I will resume my very uncomfortable elevated side sleeping position. I wish I could sleep on my front.

Since starting the breathing exercises and spending a lot of time laying on my front I have developed quite a cough -- up until this point I only had an intermittent 'bark'. I don't seem able to clear the congestion though. Has anyone found this?

Since I became ill I have not had a temp over 37.1! I've been chilled, shaking, boiling, heart pounding and sweating very profusely but never recorded a high temp. I've tested with 2 thermometers countless times and tend to run at 36.5. Has anyone else observed this?

Thanks, stay strong.

LetsBeSensible · 10/04/2020 11:59

@Millstone I have had the final one- sweats, clammy, sweaty, chills but with a temp barely over 37. However my usual temperature is barely 36. So I have had a temp.

This is something I’ve frequently had due to CFS and seems to be part of fighting a virus/immune response I think

Also shaking and shaky muscles - did you know it uses more energy to keep a muscle still, than it does to move one? If your muscles make themselves move it’s because you’re exhausted

Taffyapple8 · 10/04/2020 12:05

So so breathless and now I've been sick. Spoke to Dr and she's prescribed antibiotics to be safe. I can't handle this

onlinelinda · 10/04/2020 12:53

@scubadive I have had extreme tiredness, diarrhoea and chills as my early features. Mild cough developed later, plus other symptoms, and never a high temperature. I have not been tested but now it's pretty clear I have it. Keep taking your preventer inhalers, and do get an oximeter.

TheDrsWife46 · 10/04/2020 13:03

I’ve not had a high temp the first day i did, it hit 39 and I had diahorrea and was sick, I assumed from the fever. Then I had chills, uncontrollable shaking/tremors in my legs especially, burning prickling hot feelings all over me. My temperature as sat at 37.6 consistently since then.

Porcupineinwaiting · 10/04/2020 13:06

Hang in there @Taffyapple8. Days 9-14 were the pits, I found, but after a particularly grim day (14) I turned the corner.

You may find that good and bad days start to alternate now, so horrible as today is, tomorrow may be better.

Can you manage to keep sipping at a drink to keep yourself hydrated ? Dehydration make everything worse.

scubadive · 10/04/2020 13:10

@onlinelinda thank you, I ordered an oximeter online recently in anticipation and am taking inhalers regularly. I am trying not to get too stressed about likely future chest issues.

Has anyone else had a really bad sore throat?

Has anyone with severe asthma been through the bad chest phase. Did you do anything that helped, I have seen the queens hospital breathing exercises.

MillStone · 10/04/2020 13:44

@scubadive On day 9 I developed a sore throat.

I had a very mild one prior but out of no where it felt like something was trapped in my throat and I kept trying to swallow. It then felt swollen, very painful and then it became difficult to swallow.

It still hurts but has got a lot better in 3 days. Dr said just ride it out as I had just completed a course of Doxycycline and it was unlikely to be bacterial.

MillStone · 10/04/2020 13:50

I'd also like to share this Youtube movie from the Plymouth NHS Trust:

Apologies if it has been shared before. It was sent to me by a nurse and I have been doing it alongside the Queens technique.

Calyx72 · 10/04/2020 14:05

In hospital with 'covid changes' on xray possibly pneumonia or pleurisy apparently
Pain breathing in and they want to monitor my lungs for a day or so
Got clexane in case of a blood clot but blood tested ok
The diarrhoea is awful
Glad to be getting checked
Temp has been over 38 for 12 days but I nearly fainted when they took blood, temp dropped to 35 and has been normal since GrinGrin maybe I am cured haha

LakeFlyPie · 10/04/2020 14:19

Gosh Calyx72, hope you feel safe in hospital and pick up v soon

Taffyapple8 · 10/04/2020 14:25

I'm so glad you're being seen. I've tried all options and keep getting told I have to manage at home. I'm so frightened and so unwell

OP posts:
Lightsabre · 10/04/2020 15:25

Best pluck @Calyx72. Can I ask how you got admitted please? Was it via your GP/ambulance/111?

Calyx72 · 10/04/2020 15:31

Thanks guys
It was 111, phoned this morning as new pains breathing in and new shortness of breath at rest, when the doc phoned to give me positive covid test result he had said "have a low threshold to phone about chest" because temp had been over 38 for over 10 days
I am in Scotland

Calyx72 · 10/04/2020 15:33

@taffyapple8 hugs you poor thing Sad I would keep phoning
Are you shallow fast breaths, high temp, any pain, dizziness or anything

I do feel safe and am in a single room

Taffyapple8 · 10/04/2020 15:34

Was your temp consistently above 38? Hope you get well soon x
