Day 25
Felt less unsteady today.
Tried to help doing some cooking and had to sit down as I thought I would pass out.
I am going to have to listen to my body for a change.
Got a call from the GP to check in. They are phoning back on Wednesday.
SATS are 96/97. Temp. 37.2 peak flow 120.
Started on the titrating course of steriods and have another 5 days of antibiotics.

Cakeweek · 13/04/2020 18:00

Thanks @stayathomegardener - that's kind of reassuring to hear (not for you having it too, sorry)

Today's update is better on the temperature and heart rate front and a bit less breathless, but I feel completely congested with some high up chest pain despite there being nothing to clear. I'm going to pop some eucalyptus oil in the vapouriser overnight and see if that helps. And I'm so, so tired. I've been up and about for about 2-3 hours.

Gosh this is horrid.

whisper1991 · 13/04/2020 19:05

This is my first time posting in this thread, I have massive health anxiety and gave birth 4 days ago so I am all over the place, please bare with me!

  • Have been achey for the past few days (could be the labour)
  • Had a mild panic attack Saturday morning, very shaky afterwards
  • Woke up this morning with a temp of 38 which went down to 36.5 after an hour
  • Have now got what feels like a slight burning/painful chest and fuzzy head.

I'm trying to think of every single reason that these symptoms could be something else but of course it keeps coming back to COVID. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this, just for morale support I guess!

BreathlessCommotion · 13/04/2020 19:11

@whisper1991 Flowers congrats. After birth I felt like I had run a marathon and then been hit by a bus.

I also had night sweats, fuzzy head, headaches, cramps (as your uterus retracts).

I also got mastitis a week after my ds birth, which first presented as Flu like symptoms. Are you still in contact with your midwife? Keep talking to the post natal team. And don't apologise for being worried.

willaby123 · 13/04/2020 19:43

Thanks for the welcome @Lightsabre x

@breathlesscommotion yes to the very cold painful feel. I had this when my temp was at its highest (day 2/4) but haven't had it since. Are you getting it now?

BreathlessCommotion · 13/04/2020 20:01

Yes. And I go very suddenly hot and very suddenly cold. Really cold. It is odd.

TheDrsWife46 · 13/04/2020 21:23

@whisper1991 honestly my darling, dont be on this thread post partum because your mind will map every twinge you have post birth into Covid especially whilst we’re all talking symptoms.

You have the most gorgeous little baby im sure and day 4 is about the time that you sit wailing and how much you love them and get flooded with so many mixed feelings. Your symptoms are all valid but could be an infection, mastitis etc. You are of course welcome here, but in your position I would close my phone down, try to make a newsless bubble around yourself and your baby and call your midwife/labour ward with concerns. Because they will have had significant briefings and plans in place to deal with Covid in expectant/post partum mothers. Let your midwife check you over etc and try to block Covid out unless your midwife is concerned about your sats etc.

Congratulations on your baby Flowers

Dorual · 13/04/2020 23:50

Panicking tonight. I feel like my chest is tight and inflamed and my bronchial tubes are swollen. A piece of satsuma got caught at the back of my throat and I coughed many times to remove it. Now my lungs feel so badly on fire. And like from my windpipe down is stiff like cardboard. I have a vicks nasal stick and a humidifier in here but I'm on the verge of panic due to constructed breathing. My o2 sats are OK at 96/97 so why does it feel so bad? Am I getting pneumonia? It's day 12 or 13 can't remember.

TheDrsWife46 · 14/04/2020 07:01

@Dorual sorry you didn't get a handhold last night. When you read timelines and articles it seems as though there are three phases to this. The last being the pneumonia stage. If you’re passing into it, and im really distressed at my breathing/cough as its got worse for me after day 20, you need to carry on as you are managing the symptoms trying different means of relief, take reassurance from your sats and keep checking those as your breathing rate etc. Try steam, warm drinks/broth, warm bath etc. Im not sure if this was posted on this thread or the 30+ but this article has some good management advice for symptoms:

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/04/2020 08:26

@Dorual how are you this morning?

Crayfishforyou · 14/04/2020 09:06

I've had to avoid this thread for a few days for the sake of my mental health.
Day 15ish.
Last night and yesterday, after two pretty good days, was a bad one. Heart kept dropping down to 60 bpm, felt horribly dizzy from 11am and really bad headache behind my eyebrows. I think its sinus. Ears are also blocked and I'm hearing a constant low level tinnitus.
At half 7 I went to bed. My sats were fine, between 98-99 but I had palpitations, bpm kept whizzing between 58 to 85 and it felt like it was trying to jump out of my throat. I also had that sickening skipping beats feeling regularly.
This wasn't as bad as my day 11 setback but pretty close.
I swear this virus affects hearts, not just respiratory systems.

fogginghell · 14/04/2020 09:50

Don't know what to do.

Since last night , the left side of my chest is feeling tight/pressure and my left arm feels ever so slightly weak. I'm ok, I'm not in any severe pain but worried about my heart. It's day 19 for me, otherwise well and no symptoms .

What shall I do ?

Dorual · 14/04/2020 09:52

I feel like I'm having slight stridor or whistling when I breathe a but. But I take it that's more bronchial tubes than lungs. Maybe I inflamed them.by coughing so much? I had insomnia really bad, finally dropped off after 2.30. Headachey and nauseous now. Sats 98 but heart rate 90-100.

mymoonmyman2020 · 14/04/2020 10:17

Hi all, I'm now on day 22ish, been fairly well since day 15ish with a recent dip. Just sharing this NHS advice sheet on anxiety and breathlessness - obviously with C19 we all have real physical breathlessness, but in my case I know anxiety made it worse. The breathing exercises here helped me hugely. Realise they won't be appropriate for anyone with severe breathlessness - but for anyone else with mild symptoms they might be worth a look.

SugarSugarShimmy · 14/04/2020 10:43

@Crayfishforyou 60-85 are totally normal hear rates so I wouldn’t worry. Anxiety can cause palpitations and these increases too.

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/04/2020 10:54

@Dorual glad you managed some sleep, sorry you are still feeling so rough. It's good that your o2 sats are high.

Please keep drinking plenty and eat at least something-I used to manage soup on my worst days, if nothing else.

Steaming may help your chest/tubes. Are you coughing anything up?

Please remember you can call 111 to speak to a doctor if you are worried/need reassurance, or feel things are getting worse. Quite a few of us have had to be checked out at some point and received supportive treatment in the form of antibiotics or inhalers and even being told you do not have pneumonia if you are struggling to breathe can be immensely reassuring.

Crayfishforyou · 14/04/2020 11:25

Thank you sugarsugarshimmy
I've never had anxiety before and I'm wondering whether this virus gives it to you. It's making me question my own mind a bit.
The blocked ears and congestion seem to be the only symptom I have that couldn't also be panic over corona.

Lightsabre · 14/04/2020 11:35

@fogginghell, can you ca your GP? They should be open as normal today. I have had left sided pains under my armpit and around my breast - I was told it was my lymph nodes responding to the virus attack.

Callimanco · 14/04/2020 11:36

crayfish I had a virus mid March that may have been covid, who knows : fast heart rate, dizziness, diarrhea, sore throat, peppery chest, slight cough, insomnia, acid reflux, back ache. One of the standout features of the weird virus was that it definitely caused a shakiness and severe anxiety feeling, sense of dread. It was really noticeable when it went away. It was definitely an artefact of the illness.

TheDrsWife46 · 14/04/2020 11:37

@fogginghell I’d be calling 111 for that but frankly because they are heart indicators they are going to send you an ambulance regardless. Sorry ☹️
But IF you have an ambulance they’ll do a heart trace on you in the home anyway before they even attempt to move you so maybe dont shy away from it. Seek help if you need it. X

fogginghell · 14/04/2020 11:40

Hi @TheDrsWife46 ... I called 111 but they didn't seem too bothered at all! I got sent out of the call twice to call back through a different route so that I can get a nurse on the phone but when I finally did find my way , the wait was so long I hung up three kids who automatically turn into screaming squabbling demons when I'm on the phone

I'm now unsure of what to do. I've taken 2 paracetamol.

fogginghell · 14/04/2020 11:41

@Lightsabre ah I like the idea of it being lymph nodes working hard to clear the virus ! Grin

Lightsabre · 14/04/2020 11:45

Do you have an oximeter @fogginghell and/or a blood pressure monitor? The readings would be useful for your GP/111 service.

TheDrsWife46 · 14/04/2020 11:53

@fogginghell can you call your own GP surgery?

fogginghell · 14/04/2020 12:01

No I don't have any of the fancy equipment I'm afraid ! I could call my Gp surgery I guess. I know how 'helpful' they'll be though.
