Hi everyone, day 17 here. Thank you to all the wonderful people documenting symptoms and offering support - this thread has been a lifeline for me.
One thing I've found hugely beneficial is popping my head (covered in a towel) over a hot bowl of water with some eucalyptus oil in it. It's overwhelming to start with and makes you cough almost immediately but it loosens the gunk in your chest (for those of you with yellow/green phlegm) and you can cough it up and spit it out (gross I know but best to get it out). My O2 stats went up a couple of % each time I did this and when I was bad, I would do it morning and evening.
I'm also following @stayathomegardener advice and having a large dose of vitamin C each day.
My symptoms were:
Day 1 - fatigue, no appetite temp 38.6, altered taste
Day 2/4 - fatigue, back pain, joint pain, headaches, no appetite, temp 39.9 - in bed all day
Day 5 - stinging eyes, runny tummy, temp 38.6, O2 mid 90s, hr 95-100
Day 6 - as above with stabbing ear pain and cough becoming more persistent, temp 38.6, O2 mid 90s
Day 7/9 - as above with breathlessness, temp 38.6 with O2 93/94. Has NHS 111 call around 830pm (I had called about 930am initially) and they suggested heading in for an x-ray but I didn't want to disrupt the children (as husband was going to take me and hence we'd all need to go in)
Day 10 - fatigue, dizzy and very breathless with low O2 89/90 at which point I very nearly went in and in hindsight probably should have. I spoke again to NHS111 in the morning as I started bringing up green/yellow phlegm and managed to get antibiotics (clarithromycin) by the afternoon
Day 11 - took my first 20g vitamin C dose and first eucalyptus steam. Lots and lots of gunk came up from my chest and I felt for the first time I could breathe a little easier
Day 12 - first time my temp was normal and started to really feel like I was improving but still somewhat breathless and fatigued
I'm now Day 17. I feel almost normal but the cough persists and my chest still has congestion. I'm still breathless whenever I do any physical activity but I feel I can manage it. I expect the recovery to full lung capacity to take a while but I'm so grateful to feel better and for this thread which has helped me hugely when I was struggling with the worst of it.
