I really don't want to be calling an ambulance as there are people choking for breath out there and I just can't justify it. I will feel so bloody selfish if the trace comes back normal and healthy.

BreathlessCommotion · 14/04/2020 12:06

I had left sided chest pain and left arm pain. Arm pain was similar to a trapped nerve rather than muscular. Mine was painful, but not "oh I'm having a heart attack painful" if you see what I mean. I took paracetamol.

Someone else in the thread had left sided pain too.

justasking111 · 14/04/2020 12:37

GP surgeries are so quiet, gps are worried that sick folk, those with other conditions are not wanting to bother them. Ditto A and E departments.

UncomfortableBadger · 14/04/2020 12:38

@fogginghell If it helps, my chest pain is mostly left-sided & heart-height so I completely sympathise with your anxiety about heart problems.

On my worst day, I had a video call with my GP who was able to do various tests via video, which led them to believe that the pain was likely muscular rather than heart. They were able to do other tests remotely re breathing and heart rate. If you can call your GP surgery, do - I found it really reassuring.

UncomfortableBadger · 14/04/2020 12:39

@fogginghell Oh and don’t worry - the GP (not my usual one) wasn’t in the least bit rude or dismissive. They were really keen to help and took me completely seriously.

Gunner30 · 14/04/2020 13:05

@UncomfortableBadger and @fogginghell i've been on the +30 thread, but some of your symptoms seem similar, especially the chest pains. I'm day 32 now and starting to feel much better, buy there were a few times where I thought I was having a heart attack. I think the pains are either muscular or lymphatic and I found breathing exercises to calm down the anxiety really helps. Whilst it does take time, my gp has been really good and prescribed some antibiotics to help prevent secondary infection and also sort out my kidneys. Knowing others are in the same boat is the most reassuring thing that I've found and really helped my worry and anxiety. Hope this helps;-)

UncomfortableBadger · 14/04/2020 13:36

Thanks @Gunner30 - am day 20ish here (losing track of the days) and definitely feel much better than I did on days 5-11. Have had several good days in a row but trying not to overexert myself nonetheless. “Just” the lingering chest pain, racing heart, insomnia and breathlessness left now Wink

justasking111 · 14/04/2020 13:40

I would not be diagnosing chest and arm pains as CV, and would persist with 111 or 999.

Some reports say this virus is damaging the heart, dinna wannae freet you but I would take the advice of paramedics.

Dorual · 14/04/2020 13:42

I have left sided chest pain too. It hurts more when I lay on that side or stretch. But it feels very internal. So guessing pleurisy or jusy lung inflammation pain. Fever is down though so I'm assuming not a secondary infection. I just hope the inflammation doesn't lead to loss of oxygen levels. But day 14 more unlikely, maybe? Hopefully?!!

JackJackIncredible · 14/04/2020 15:36

Pleurisy tends to feel relief if you put pressure/lie on the bad side. I know it sounds odd but it’s true.

Chest pain always needs medical advice, please be safe and don’t assume.

Crayfishforyou · 14/04/2020 15:51

I don't think I can take another evening of feeling as though I'm having a heart attack. It seems to be every three days now.
Its terrifying.

Dorual · 14/04/2020 15:54

It's not excruciating though. More bruised, sore, stiff. But my temp is 37.1 for the first time, yey! And Sats are 99.

Dorual · 14/04/2020 15:59

@Crayfishforyou is there pain aswell or os it just the palpitations? 85bpm is still fine.

Can you try breathing techniques or mindfulness in bed?

We're at about the same stage (I'm day 14).

Hang in there xx

Gunner30 · 14/04/2020 16:07

@UncomfortableBadger rest is the best thing to be honest. I'm still sleeping a couple of hours every afternoon to give my body a chance to fight it off. Good luck, the other symptoms should get easier.
@Dorual the breathing exercises and mindfulness can be done in bed. Breathing is more a case of deep breaths through the nose and getting as much oxygen in as you can, but there are lots of tips online, as it's important to exhale fully. The mindfulness stuff can be a mixture of mediation and breathing or just taking time out to not think or do anything. I really helps to calm anxiety and again have a look online, as there's loads of good stuff. Hope that helps 😊

Crayfishforyou · 14/04/2020 16:21

Chest pain
Palpitations
Dizziness
Nausea
I check my sats and they are fine during it.

Dorual · 14/04/2020 16:45

Could they be panic attacks Crayfish? X

Rosesofeyam · 14/04/2020 16:51

Day 25
Got up and had a shower.(stupid idea to try and do everything at once). Spent an hour recovering and dizzy. Not doing that again.

I'm still getting pain in left upper side of my chest and it hurts like hell when I'm coughing.

It feels like two steps forward ten back.

On the plus side my brain doesn't feel so foggy.

I'm glad some are feeling a little better. Sorry for those still suffering. Flowers

Rosesofeyam · 14/04/2020 16:56

Sorry forgot stats.
SATS 97/98 Temp 36.7 peak flow 170. Still on steriods and antibiotics.

MillStone · 14/04/2020 16:58

Day 21 since mild symptoms. Day 17 since terrible symptoms.

3 decent nights / sleeps in a row.

Started feeling almost normal yesterday afternoon -- just a little bit of breathlessness and some minor back pain.

Felt great this morning but seemingly did too much pottering in the house. At lunchtime I went down with bang; pounding heart, breathlessness, aching back. extreme fatigue. Awful.

Spent the afternoon laying in bed resting and have somewhat normalised my breathing and pain.

Tuesday's lesson was learned the hard way. Wednesday will be different.

Hope everyone is coping and improving.

Crayfishforyou · 14/04/2020 17:23

They probably are panic attacks dorual
I really hope they are.
I've never felt anything like it

LetsBeSensible · 14/04/2020 18:18

Day 28 I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned having a skanky mouth?
Every morning it’s gross, tongue is coated and itchy through the day as is my mouth and throat. Has been going on a few days and might have to get a mouth thrush prescription as it’s really annoying!
10 hours sleep, lungs a bit sore and a tiny bit of coughing, but good bits of activity taking place, cooking and washing up. Finally hoovered.
After tomorrow I can “graduate” to the 30+

KatySun · 14/04/2020 18:32

I have had chest pain now for three weeks, I phoned 111 after 8 days of coughing symptoms as per the advice in Scotland. They basically ruled out a heart attack over the phone as far as I could work out from the questions and the threshold for paramedic attention seemed to be being unable to breathe and being blue around the mouth. That said, they were very thorough in the questions and advice and I found it reassuring. So I think if you have any concerns, then call 111 or 999 depending on the severity of the symptoms.

The pain in my case has definitely been around what I would have said was my heart and upper back, I have had the nerve like pain down my left arm. It has been alternate constant pain and stabby pains with some (brief) periods of respite. I am still very fatigued and have the dizzy feelings after exertion which may be low blood sugar (?).

I have had antibiotics but now the doctor is basically (over the phone, fair enough) saying the pain is probably inflammation and will heal in time 🤷🏻‍♀️

Notpanickingjustyet · 14/04/2020 18:46

Hello checking in. Day 5 here. Things escalated a bit today as I couldn't speak properly and was very out of breath. I did the whole 111 thing online who said to phone an ambulance. Totally threw me but they said they'd give advice over the phone. Ok I thought, I'm ok with phone advice, definitely don't want an ambulance. They sent an ambulance because she could hear how breathless I was talking. I found it very embarrassing and unnecessary as there are people who are really poorly. They suspect covid19 but as they can't even get tests for themselves, there's little hope for others.
Apart from feeling tired with struggling to breathe, I now feel so sorry that front line workers are in contact with people in nothing more than an art apron and flimsy mask!

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/04/2020 19:59

@LetsBeSensible yes quite a few of us had oral thrush a few threads ago. My tongue was a strange whitish green colour for a week Envy . I gargled with hydrogen peroxide solution 6 times a day which may or may not have helped but made me feel better. Had a horrible taste in my mouth whilst that was going on too.

TheDrsWife46 · 14/04/2020 21:02

@Notpanickingjustyet day five is early, did they check you over and reassure you? Just to ask but based on the experiences of everyone on these last threads, do you have an oximeter? Thermometer?

If you dont, i’d urge you to order some for your own piece of mind because you may feel like that again and having sats readings to fall back on and reassure yourself will help you a lot.
