@Calyx72
So glad to hear that you are out of hospital. It must be so weird to have all the information thats “wrong” rather than having to second guess what each twinge might be. Glad your home. Keep us posted xxx

LakeFlyPie · 11/04/2020 20:55

Glad you're home Calyx72 did you get antibiotics for the pneumonia?
Hope you recuperate well at home.

Hope you're ok Taffyapple8

Lightsabre · 11/04/2020 20:58

Glad you got a diagnosis @Calyx72 - hope you make a good recovery now.

JackJackIncredible · 11/04/2020 21:09

Glad you’re home @Calyx72
Did you have a chest x-ray?

Rest up! Don’t over do it x

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 21:17

Thanks all
No antibiotics
Yes they did a standing chest xray first thing

It is a relief to have a) been tested and positive and b) been xrayed yesterday and monitored for 24hrs. I am so so grateful not to have needed oxygen or to have deteriorated overnight. I am delighted to be home to recover. I wish you could all be fully assessed Thanks and be reassured

It was really odd btw - in with 38.8C temp; they took loads of blood and during that, I think I went into shock - suddenly grey faced, clammy, had to get them to stop and temp dropped to 35C; lay down and after five minutes they took the rest of the bloods. But since then my temp has stayed down Grin maybe yo olde bloodletting did the trick

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 21:20

My temp had been over 38 for 12 days up till then

Hooe you're all better soon
@taffyapple8 @thedrswife46 @dorual @kevintheorangecarrot

and everyone else Thanks thanks for asking for me xx

JackJackIncredible · 11/04/2020 21:21

@Calyx72

Do they think it’s COVID pneumonia then? I assumed they gave antibiotics as a precaution to cover any secondary bacterial infection? Maybe not.

Take care

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 21:27

@JackJackIncredible the doctor said 'covid changes on your xray'
I don't have mucus or anything coming up
My crp was only 27 so mildly raised

A couple of different doctors said that it was late in my covid for fast deterioration and also that despite mild asthma I am fairly healthy (I am 48 with no other conditions)

I think they decided to leave antibiotics just said rest and fluids for a week or so

They did say call 111 if worsening of course and they did make sure I had my DP to keep an eye as well

kevintheorangecarrot · 11/04/2020 21:27

@Calyx72 hope you're on the mend ASAP lovely.

Can I ask exactly what your symptoms were and what days? If you've posted it already on here I apologise. I possibly have missed it and will go back and re read this thread again xx

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 21:28

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 21:41

Sorry forgot to tag you @kevintheorangecarrot Thanks

TheDrsWife46 · 11/04/2020 22:24

@Calyx72 wow, reading your diary is so so similiar to my own thatbit made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Ive had that many times where ive thought “is this IT? If its not what on earth could it be?!?!”

The fact that I had diarrhoa a few times completely angered my mum who was yelling at me that it wasnt even a “thing” in Covid. Im on day 20 now, and you know what, if my pattern has followed yours so closely Im a bit more confident at being at home resting and recuperating.

Did they tell you how long to expect recovery to take? I know everyone one the 30+ thread are so so tired and tearful at getting to 4 weeks.

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 22:37

@TheDrsWife46 poor you I wish you had been tested I am 100% sure it was the same thing.

The doctors and nurses didn't seem worried about the pneumonia and said a week or so for it to clear but will take a couple of weeks to start getting energy back

The diarrhoea is apparently a thing but only for up to 10% of the patients they have seen
It's awful and I have a painful pile as a result Confused

Do keep fluids up and I hope you and the rest of the long timers feel much much better very soon

Thanks for your help I really feel you have all helped Thanks

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 22:38

@TheDrsWife46 sorry but anyone yelling at you is horrible Thanks even sorrier that it was your Mum

TheDrsWife46 · 11/04/2020 22:42

@Calyx72 never fear this whole thing has made me review a lot of relationships.

Can I just ask one more question? Im conscious that you’re as knackered as the rest if us having to recover at home, but are you frightened? I think many of us know that we probably have pneumonia by day 20 onwards but without medical tests its easy to let your mind drift. Do feel quite confident and okay that your at home with pneumonia? I think thats the prospect thats scaring a lot of us...

Calyx72 · 11/04/2020 22:48

@TheDrsWife46 don't worry about asking anything thanks though xx

No I am not frightened, I looked it up and just says fluids and rest, I know to phone if I feel worse so feel okay being home

Also I know that most of you feel or have felt much worse than me Thanks

I have my thermometer and my pulse oximeter and also my DP will keep an eye on me (he bought me yoghurt today hoping to help my diarrhoea, I am so lucky)

TheDrsWife46 · 11/04/2020 22:50

Thanks for taking the time to answer me, please do rest and keep us updated would love to hear that you’re better next week! X

aleC4 · 11/04/2020 22:58

I didn't obviously want to find myself on this thread but there seems a lot of experience here!
Just wondering, did anybody start this with chest pains? I woke this morning feeling like someone had been sat on my chest all night. It hurt just to move and I had to take shallow breaks just to stop the pain. As I moved about it eased a little and eased more when I took two paracetomol.
All day I've been aware of it but it only hurts a little now when I take a deep breath. Absolutely no other symptoms.
I didn't say anything to the kids.
Then at tea time ds 15 said to me mum I don't know what's wrong with me but I have a real pain in my chest. It hurts when I breathe and I feel a bit breathless. He also said it hurt a bit in his throat.
He has taken two paracetomol tonight because it is still hurting him. He said it is wry painful when he stands up but better when he is lying down. I tried to reassure him by saying maybe it is just hay fever - he does suffer but not usually his chest.
We both have no other symptoms - no temperature, no cough etc.
Should I be worried? I'm more worried about ds than myself and told him to come to me in the night if he doesn't feel right.

Crayfishforyou · 11/04/2020 23:06

aleC4
Mine started with sore eyes but the next day I had chest pains. It felt full of broken glass.
I also feel better lying down, less dizzy.

dorual I get the jumps. It's like those dreams where you trip over and wake with a bump. I've put it down to the adrenaline surges. Horrible.

Honestly this virus is the worst. Its horrid because not only the symptoms are horrid but its cyclic, does it ever really fucking end? Or is it like cold sores, warts and herpes? Just going to come back again and again?

Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 11/04/2020 23:29

After 4 and a half weeks I have now had 3 very healthy days without any symptoms.
Unconfirmed and not tested but suspect fell ill after mixing with several families that had recently returned from ski holidays.
Main symptoms were
Initial temp for 2 days only
Dry hacking cough ( sounded like puppy barking)
Breathlessness
Fatigue
Very emotional and irritable
After about 10 days
Totally blocked nose all the time lasted about 2 weeks
Very dry coated mouth and tongue would be stuck to mouth several times through the night
Mouth ulcers and cold sore
Very thirsty
One day of severe abdominal pain and upset
After 3 weeks
Severe headache and hangover feeling
Aches and pains in joints hips back and neck
Sensitivity to noise and light burning backs of eyes
Period went on for 11 days
Pain in chest, rushes and zaps very fast heart rate like having a heart attack
Swollen fingers.
So to have no symptoms now is a huge relief.
What helped?
Loads of water
Co codamol
Vit C, D, B, Probiotics,
Hardcore breathing exercises ( yoga kabalati)
Visualisation exercises where I imagined my lungs being gently cleaned and healed ( I was desperate)
Going in garden for fresh air
Writing a list of all the things I am going to do in the future
As I got better some gentle bike riding
Eating really healthy and treating food as fuel and medicine ( spirulina smoothies) no sugar, alchohol lots of protein to heal.
Hope you all continue to make huge improvements X
