@mumlurker I read somewhere that gastro issues may continue after the virus has gone. So don't be too despondent. I haven't had it recently but the sore throat is constantly threatening.

Wrybread · 14/04/2020 18:46

I was thinking about those of us who are having emotional wobbles. I reckon it's completely normal to feel like that. We're having symptoms long after must people have got better, and that's going to feel worrying. We're having to self isolate for such a long time, and that's really tough too. And then on top of that, we don't know when we're going to get better.

So wobbles seen like a reasonable reaction to me!

musicposy · 14/04/2020 18:50

Oh my goodness Egghead68, that resonates. I spent that time telling family members I how much loved them, told my mum I’d had a wonderful childhood and thank you, discussing with my young adult DDs who would take what dog if something happened to DH as well (we were both showing symptoms, though DH less so) and telling DD1 where I was putting all the passwords to the bank accounts.

I’m glad I’m at least feeling more positive than that!

fedupofbed · 14/04/2020 18:52

@Egghead68 and @MilesJuppIsMyBitch I can't imagine the stress of being in the shielding group on top of everything else.

Standrewsschool · 14/04/2020 18:52

@musicposy - how are you doing after a weekend without antibiotics. For me, so far so good and the horrible cough hasn’t returned.

Egghead68 · 14/04/2020 18:53

Hi @musicposy - it’s really good we are past that phase!

musicposy · 14/04/2020 19:02

Hi @Standrewsschool, ok I think. Glad you are too!
I had a bad moment in the night last night where I woke up coughing and then felt really weird and faint and all my arms and legs went pins and needly. I called out to DH who came in (we’ve been sleeping in separate rooms since he first started coughing, not sure it’s made any difference!) and chatted to me for a bit until it went. It was a bit of a scary episode but other than that I’ve been fine.

Definitely the cough and chestiness has ramped back up a little but as I feel more or less ok, I have left it for now and I’m keeping an eye.

mumlurker · 14/04/2020 19:06

@godhelpusall

Oh really? It feels so...in post viral! But i'm praying you're right.

I honestly think I'll come out of this a changed person after all these wobbles. Feeling very appreciative of all the good things in my life despite the intermittent dispair!

mumlurker · 14/04/2020 19:07

Feeling so fed up. My throat is so sore again :( for a few days I've been suffering from heartburn and indigestion which was travelling up to my gullet and I believe this has possibly caused my throat to become sore but on the other hand, I had the exact same symptoms and then breathlessness and that's what I'm feeling. I'm not as breathless as I was before (I was honestly gasping at one point)! Did anyone here suffer from GERD/acid reflux symptoms during suspected covid 19? I've never had this before until now. I have to drink milk sometimes to cool down my gullet as it burns. My throat feels like it's been cauterised :(

kevintheorangecarrot · 14/04/2020 19:31

I will read through this thread later once I'm in bed but I'm just hoping everyone on here recovers ASAP and just has one day (forever even!) to be symptom free xx

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/04/2020 19:43

@kevintheorangecarrot yes I've had reflux/GERD since about day 18 (now 27). But I was a regular sufferer before coronavirus so not too surprised - and I know how to treat it and have plenty in the house to treat it with.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 14/04/2020 19:44

Hi Egghead68. I'm not glad you're here, but it's nice not to be the only one WineI've done letters to the kids etc too.

fedupofbed thank you. I don't think I've been as ill as some of you, but it's pretty unsettling to have your GP say "you are shielding, aren't you??" with a worried look on her face, then to realise you've got it Confused

mumlurker · 14/04/2020 19:44

@kevintheorangecarrot

I think a lot of us have had acid reflux judging by earlier posts. I've had to start taking gaviscon at night. Never experienced heartburn before in my life.

kevintheorangecarrot · 14/04/2020 19:45

@Porcupineinwaiting how?! I could do with some treatment. Would omeprazole work or just standard gaviscon? I wonder if it really is part of covid. Since I've never had it before it probably is!

mumlurker · 14/04/2020 19:46

P.s. sorry you're feeling so down. I'm trying to hold on to knowing I've felt better in some ways over the last few days, so if I dip again I can try to keep hold of the thought that it is possible to feel better

kevintheorangecarrot · 14/04/2020 19:51

@mumlurker such a dreadful feeling isn't it :( seems like we could possibly be suffering from gastro type covid rather than respiratory but saying that the throat and breathlessness is there! Goodness knows when this madness will end x

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/04/2020 19:54

@kevintheorangecarrot

-gaviscon liquid (ideally) or tablets before every meal or snack.

-Keep meals small in volume.

  • Avoid anything too greasy, or acidic (eg citrus) or spicy
  • try not to let yourself get too hungry before eating
  • Try and stay upright/sat up for a hour after each meal (this is the one I struggle with cause eating triggers the breathlessness and makes me want to lie on my front which makes the reflux worse)
  • if all that fails then omeprazole. If you take omeprazole you need to leave a 2 hrs spacing since taking gaviscon a d before taking it again. Omeprazole works best if taken half a hour before eating.

HTH

Moominmamma33 · 14/04/2020 19:59

@godhelpusall @Standrewsschool Thanks, feeling a bit better on the breathless front today I think (as long as I keep activity to a minimum), but slightly burny feeling around my sternum and achy lungs, and really tired..felt flushed, hence doing temp. Not sure which direction I'm going right now, recovering or deteriorating!

Standrewsschool · 14/04/2020 20:02

Kevin - yes, got heartburn and I never suffer from heartburn. I took the gaviscon dual action tablets.

Egghead68 · 14/04/2020 20:07

Hi @kevintheorangecarrot. Yes I got heart-burn. I think all the standard treatments and tips help.

fedupofbed · 14/04/2020 20:17

Yes me too with heartburn/ reflux - lot of it about!

godhelpusall · 14/04/2020 20:22

Also with the heartburn- gaviscon, small simple meals, peppermint tea etc

Meercatmama · 14/04/2020 20:22

Good evening day 30 for me I had a reasonable day when I was able to collect some shopping from click and collect and do a bit of housework. Thought great got through a day almost feeling normal. but in the last hour and half I am so tired and the on and off breathlessness has started again with some twinges in my back. Husband who is on day 16 had a dip was up but had episodes of breathlessness all day and retired to bed at 7.30pm . I am looking at this way we are both better than we were this time last week so that's a positive even if it is not a quick as we would like it Wishing you all a good nights rest and hoping you all improve tomorrow

Bit presumptuous of me as I'm new, but shall I start a new thread?
