What happened to the letters the government were writing to every household?

About 10 days ago I thought it was announced that the government was writing to every household in the country to reiterate the advice regarding CV

I thought it seemed a waste of time and money as you’d have to be living in a bunker to have not heard to before but that’s beside the point

Did anyone actually receive this letter?

Got ours on Monday.

Total waste of paper and money.

vera99 · 08/04/2020 20:43

Looks like a load of money 'spaffed ' up the wall then.

Mangosocks · 08/04/2020 20:54

Got mine on Monday, went in the recycling unopened as I'd already seen copies of it online.

SquigglePigs · 08/04/2020 21:17

Ours arrived today (East Midlands).

PerfidiousAlbion · 08/04/2020 21:20

I got mine today. Just a letter and information booklet.

It just explains the situation, why you should stay in and wash your hands a lot. Very basic. I’m guessing its for issolated people with no TV.

Hermits and the like Grin

BeautifulBirds · 08/04/2020 21:25

Nothing here, northwest.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/04/2020 21:30

Mines came yesterday afternoon. I’m up outside Edinburgh if areas matter.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/04/2020 21:32

Mine came. Didn’t open it. Binned.

FightF1ght123 · 08/04/2020 21:33

Yes received

MinesaPinot · 08/04/2020 22:38

We've had ours. What a waste of money. I'd sooner the money went to the NHS rather than being wasted like this.

MsAwesomeDragon · 08/04/2020 22:40

We got ours on Monday. It didn't give any information that we haven't had from multiple sources anyway. I suppose people who don't watch/read the news or those who live under rocks would have gained something from the letter. For us it was just another thing that could possibly bring the virus into our house.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 08/04/2020 22:44

I got mine yesterday. Not sure what the point of it was.

LesLavandes · 08/04/2020 22:48

Mine arrived Monday

SallyWD · 08/04/2020 22:55

Yes a few days ago

rainbowlou · 08/04/2020 22:57

We got ours yesterday with about 2 weeks worth of mail

midnightstar66 · 08/04/2020 23:01

Mine came today, it's still on the mat where it landed lol - am erring on the side of caution 😆

DonnaDarko · 08/04/2020 23:05

Yep, went straight into the recycling.

Absolute waste of money!

indemMUND · 08/04/2020 23:07

Nope. I got the text but no letter.

Gertie75 · 08/04/2020 23:23

Ours came today, I'm going to keep it along with other childhood bits for dd's to look at when they're older, hopefully this won't happen for another generation and it'll be interesting to look back on.

Snoooozzze · 08/04/2020 23:27

Mine arrived today.

I suppose they're making sure that people who don't access internet/social media/watch the news to have the same info as it's literally the same as the website.

happyandsingle · 08/04/2020 23:39

I'm keeping mine as a reminder of a moment in history we will never forget- plus the only time I'll probably ever recieve a letter from the pm!

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2020 08:55

The Royal mail aren't delivering spam unless you have other post in some areas. Other areas have had staff shortages or even staff walk outs (Union led as staff have had covid-19 and workers are worried they aren't being adequately protected and may past on the virus to the vulnerable) so not all post is arriving as quickly as normal.

We've yet to receive ours, but I believe there are significant localised problems here.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 09/04/2020 09:00

No letter or leaflet, but just after it was announced we got a double-sided, colour postcard with Covid-19 info on it, & I wondered if that was the 'letter' - apparently not, so what did I get? (south coast of England)

AHintOfStyle · 09/04/2020 09:03

We got ours on Monday. Unfortunately a local funeral director had decided it was a good time to send out an advertising mail shot so we all got a leaflet about organising our own funeral at the same time as the government COVID19 letter...

Vebrithien · 09/04/2020 09:04

Got ours on Saturday.

The grammatical and formatting errors Shock!
