I can’t imagine Boris being felled easily.

MarshaBradyo · 08/04/2020 18:35

I think he’s in a bad way still but will be ok. Not joking around but through the bad stage and on the other side. Is my interpretation

YangShanPo · 08/04/2020 18:36

If engaging positively is anything like the press conference it means not answering the question asked but just parroting a load of scripted spin.

Bool · 08/04/2020 19:08

He’s responding. He’s not on a ventilator. I think he is over the worst.

ChipotleBlessing · 08/04/2020 19:10

If these descriptions are true he is significantly more well than anyone in ICU usually is.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 08/04/2020 20:41

He needs to give up his ICU bed for someone worse off and take a bed on a normal ward now

Everyone's a doctor now

Perhaps the hospital has plenty of icu capacity?

kingofkings · 08/04/2020 20:43

Loving the medics , anaesthetists and site managers on this thread!

kingofkings · 08/04/2020 20:44

Yes funny how all these essential workers are online day and night.

Devlesko · 08/04/2020 20:46

Clouds
Do we know he's there?

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 08/04/2020 20:51

In ICU? I believe as of the latest update he's still there

YangShanPo · 08/04/2020 20:58

From what I have read ICU is not very comfortable for patients who don't need to be there and they would be happier in a less specialist ward as soon as they can be safely moved. So I don't think Boris is choosing to stay there.

shesgrownhorns · 08/04/2020 21:32

Do they have side rooms in ICU? Surely he'll be in a side room but how magnificent if not! Can you imagine pulling through and saying you were in the bed next to Boris! You could dine out on that one forever!

champagneandfromage50 · 08/04/2020 21:38

They do have side rooms in ICUs, and in truth the care you get is second to none. My OH didnt want to be moved to another ward when he was in an ITU last year.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2020 17:16

Being in critical care is hugely traumatic. No one in critical care will give a shit, if they even know, who else they are in there with.

StitchInLime · 09/04/2020 17:20

Anyone know timeline in terms of if Boris isn't out of ICU by a certain date then that's a worry? So would we expect him to be out by end of next week, for example, to know he has a chance of pulling through? Or does it not work like that?

RingtheBells · 09/04/2020 17:27

Going by the interviews with people who have recovered it seems to be a week or two in intensive care is usual, I’m not a medic.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/04/2020 18:16

Average stay in intensive care seems to be about 12days. I assume the level of support needed is important.

YangShanPo · 09/04/2020 18:45

I'm surprised it's so long, I did read it would take about a week to recover for each day spent in ICU.

RandomlyChosenName · 09/04/2020 18:55

I would imagine the longer ICU stays are if you were on a ventilator and that would also cause a longer recovery period too.

The person I know who was on oxygen but not ventilated in ICU was in there for 3 days and then moved to a normal ward for another 4 days.

Hopefully this means he is on the mend.
