And Boris and Marina are now legally divorced as he’s engaged to Carrie Symonds. Do keep up.

I’m not so sure about this. It hasn’t been reported that they are legally divorced, only that they have recently reached a financial settlement allowing Marina to apply for a decree absolute. The engagement was announced at the time of the financial settlement. Boris wouldn’t be the first person to become engaged before his divorced was finalised.

GrimSisters · 06/04/2020 05:57

I'm ambivalent. I care as much about Boris as he and his administration care about all the poor and disabled who have died needlessly while they've been in government.
Perhaps he now realises the utter idiocy and insensitivity of calling his half arsed quest to obtain ventilators 'operation least gasp'.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/04/2020 06:25

Grim
Your summation is pretty accurate. He completely panicked when he realised he’d succumbed and may need one of the “last gasp” ventilators. The call to trump...

pocketem · 06/04/2020 06:35

We should have been ramping up production of masks, ventilators and antigen tests from late January, not waiting till mid March by which time the rest of the world had already nabbed global supplies

tallah · 06/04/2020 06:36

Can't believe people can be arsed having to first state they're no Tory before saying they hope he's ok!! That's really sad. Not everything has to be about politics, he is just a person and you're allowed to just want him ok without mentioning that ffs! Pathetic

NotJustACigar · 06/04/2020 06:38

Grim, agreed about being ambivalent although I wouldn't wish what the Tories did to the poor and disabled on anyone.

Leflic · 06/04/2020 07:13

I cannot help but be angry with him for having wasted so much money and lives in the process of getting to where he is now. His refusal to protect himself and the country has led to this. First his Brexit power trip. Now infecting swathes of the population with untested medical theory to unsafe practices infecting a chunk of the cabinet and his pregnant fiancée. I cannot believe there are already herd immunity deniers.

You are literally making things up. Every sentence of that post is rant not fact.
This is about Johnson going into hospital. Are you pleased then because that’s what it sounds like.
Oh I know you started with ‘ I hope he recovers” but like you, I am being selective. Your post clearly doesn’t wish him well.

Dongdingdong · 06/04/2020 07:24

Well said, but having spent time on Mumsnet, I’ve realised that politics really do come before people to many posters.

I agree with the above. The fact that he was shaking hands with coronavirus victims is beyond irresponsible. No wonder some people still aren't taking it seriously.

coachman · 06/04/2020 07:27

I've been really shocked by some of the comments. He's a father and son and has parents, children and family who must be very worried about him. Speculating about who will be at his funeral is vile.

VivaLeBeaver · 06/04/2020 07:27

Why was he taken there by private car? I feel sorry for the poor person who had to drive him. Wouldn’t an ambulance with professionals in full PPE being more sensible? Though i suppose if he wasn’t getting preferential treatment he may have had to wait hours and hours for one.

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 07:33

@Suckingdiesel

If I were you I would watch one of the first press conferences.

I'm very irritated by people now trying to pretend that the government's initial position was not to let the virus take its own course.

The poster who said it's like 1984 has it right. It's Doublethink.

itsgettingweird · 06/04/2020 07:39

Hopefully it's a precaution because of his position.
However I did read somewhere that having a temperature for longer is an indication of more serious illness and less favourable outcomes.

DateLoaf · 06/04/2020 07:42

I really hope he recovers soon, just as I hope that for everyone else dealing with the severe effects of this terrible virus. It must be a very scary time for him and his family and friends. I’m sure he absolutely does appreciate the NHS for all they’re doing for him.

As far as whether he is still married or not, as far as has been announced publicly, he remains married to his wife Marina. its been reported that Boris and Carrie got engaged before Christmas 2019, anyone can get engaged while being married. What was announced in February 2020 wasn’t the divorce though. It was the financial legal agreement for if and when they did divorce.

Apparently it’s now up to his wife, Marina to apply to get the divorce. But given she has had more important things to worry about like dealing with cancer, sorting out the paperwork for getting a divorce may or may not be high on her list. It will be made public when there actually is a divorce, and I’m sure the marriage will be publicised too.

Inkpaperstars · 06/04/2020 07:51

The political reports have been saying that Boris has been completely alone in what sounded like a suite of rooms at no 11, with a lobby closed off in between him and others and meals left outside the door. They even emphasised he had taken his own temperature in order to conclude that he shouldn't emerge after seven days. They are also saying now that he was admitted in part because they wanted him to see a doctor face to face. Does that seem likely to be true, or would they have sent someone in to check him out at no 10? I think they must have.

pocketem · 06/04/2020 07:57

Not true at all
If he just needed a doctor to see him, he wouldn't have to be transported to hospital

Cary2012 · 06/04/2020 08:04

There are some totally uncalled for comments on here.
The man is ill, possibly severely.
I started the thread to provide breaking information, not to provide a thread for some of you to vent, blame, gloat....

I wish the man well, as I do all people who are unwell.

A bit of compassion goes a long way, and uncalled for comments say far more about the poster, than they do the recipient.

Wakeupsunshine · 06/04/2020 08:08

He divorced Marina in February.

Wakeupsunshine · 06/04/2020 08:10

Oh just saw pp’s comment. Yes a financial settlement was agreed pre-divorce.

zafferana · 06/04/2020 08:14

I think Boris just needs to rest. He's got a moderate case of a nasty virus and by all accounts you need to rest, sleep and recover and if you have a moderate case you can take 2-3 weeks to recover. He's been working flat out since before he came down with this. He needs to step back, let his fellow ministers take over and prioritise his health. I can under his frustration with not being able to run the government properly, but his health is now paramount here.

Bornfreebutincovidchains · 06/04/2020 08:15

Sir Patrick valance the govs chief medical officer and other specialists feel that herd immunity is a part solution. Very early on, almost to himself Boris did say... 'some people think we should just let it go good through the country, personally I think we need to do more to mitigate it' '

So it's not surprising any of the team in no 10 spoke or mentioned herd immunity if that's what the so called expert is mooting.

Anything could be taken out of context and twisted. If the chief had said differently they would be talking different.

nerozero · 06/04/2020 08:15

It shouldn't matter if you're a Tory or not. The man is a human being and from human to another I wish him well and hope he recovers.

Also he's the PM of the country we live and and whether you voted for him or not I feel that means something.

Bornfreebutincovidchains · 06/04/2020 08:17

Wouldn't doctors be photo going in and out? They would have to wear full hazmets well..

chomalungma · 06/04/2020 08:18

So it's not surprising any of the team in no 10 spoke or mentioned herd immunity if that's what the so called expert is mooting

I would have thought a Chief Medical Officer was an expert.
Not a so called expert Confused

Bornfreebutincovidchains · 06/04/2020 08:18

Why are people shocked at the comment? This is politics, people get very emotional!
