How distasteful to be speculating about funerals! We are supposed to be being kinder. Poor Carrie (poor everyone being pregnant right now) and what a horrible situation.

Ilovemypantry · 06/04/2020 00:28

@shesgrownhorns
Boris is the devil’s work

What a horrible, nasty thing to say when the poor man is ill and suffering.

prh47bridge · 06/04/2020 00:29

Will he be skipping the queue or have to wait for a ventilator

What queue? Right now there are enough ventilators to go round. The concern is that there may not be enough to cope with the peak.

DarnedSocks · 06/04/2020 00:29

I can just imagine Blair or Cameron going for herd immunity... from a safe distance. I think it's a disgusting policy but Boris practised what he preached.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:29

If someone is ill enough to be in hospital, antibiotics are often given to prevent secondary infections which can make you more likely to die.
But the scary thing about corona is that they can support your breathing, but ultimately whether you recover is down to your own body fighting the virus.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:31

@darnedsocks This really is not the thread to turn into a political point scoring discussion.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:33

And no PM runs their own twitter account except Trump.

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/04/2020 00:34

What a horrible, nasty thing to say when the poor man is ill and suffering.

Have you heard of the Bullingdon Club?
Not one fuck given for the suffering of others there.

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 00:35

The problem is that being put on a ventilator can make you worse especially if frail in any way,

Kingcole · 06/04/2020 00:36

This thread needs deleting and the others @mumsnet. I cannot believe some of the comments. Sad

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 00:36

@FlamingoAndJohn two wrongs don't make a right though?

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:38

He isn't frail though. I doubt he is on a ventilator unless his deterioration was incredibly sudden. But the normal route for patients who will get slower access to treatments seems to be oxygen first. Some will recover and not need anything else. Others will get more ill and end up on ventilators.

DarnedSocks · 06/04/2020 00:39

I'm not being political. Unlike many. Blair and Cameron aren't from the same party for a start. I've also pointed out the NHS is a mess because of both Labour and the Conservatives. I was responding to those who seem gleeful about Boris being so unwell. In this instance I was talking about him as an individual.

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 00:41

There is a doctor in New York right now saying that Covid is best treated with oxygen and not ventilation as ventilators put more pressure on lungs that are trying to heal.

RosesandIris · 06/04/2020 00:42

There are some really nasty individuals around. Who would wish someone dead or take pleasure in them being ill? He’s a politician not a Nazi.

Bornfreebutincovidchains · 06/04/2020 00:43

King, considering mumsnet is known to be very left leaning, this has been fine.
. Yes a few posters are rabid but for goodness sake most are humane and supportive

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:46

@Moomin8 People are usually only put on ventilators when there is no other choice.

Cailleach1 · 06/04/2020 00:46

This is what he wanted, isn't it? At the beginning the British gov't ( esp. Boris) were saying that they wanted enough people to get it for 'herd immunity' in the population.

They had to change tack pretty sharpish afterwards, but this is what he advocated in the beginning.

adiposegirl2 · 06/04/2020 00:48

You den of absolute vipers! He is a human- the world is in the midst of a pandemic: show compassion. If you cannot, say nothing at all.

Some of you really need to examine your hearts and minds: you will all know someone who will die of this, heck some of you may die yourselves some have recovered.

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 00:48

@alloutoffucks yes. It's a horrible situation

Moomin8 · 06/04/2020 00:52

@adiposegirl2

The thing is, a lot of people have actually died because of the last 10 years of Tory rule.

Maybe the people saying the horrible things already know someone suffering or who did actually die because of their policies?

I do hope that he recovers but I can see why some people might feel the way they do. Although, I guess we can't lay all the blame at Boris's door.

However, it would seem that he didn't take this virus seriously in the beginning.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:52

The Telegraph are saying he is in St Thomas hospital.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:54

The Telegraph also quote Downing Street saying that Johnson will stay in St Thomas for "as long as needed". So not overnight. And that he was taken there by private car.
He is clearly very unwell and needs to be in hospital for treatment.

MrsSnitchnose · 06/04/2020 00:55

Horrible comments on here. Come on Boris, we need our Prime Minister. Sending healing vibes

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:57

I don't want anyone to die of corona. But the country will carry on if he is not able to be PM.
