I'm worried for him and hope he's ok. The people who become very poorly with pneumonia/ ARDS do so in the second week of illness.

catsandlavender · 05/04/2020 22:25

@Innitogether exactly!! I found myself looking on the Rev Richard coles’ twitter for comfort and I’ve always been an atheist.

CalmerViolet · 05/04/2020 22:25

Guardian had info last week ago that he was more ill than was being admitted, and that doctors are worried about his breathing. Sounds serious, not ‘tests’.

duffeldaisy · 05/04/2020 22:25

Now we'll get all the well wishers hoping he gets better, after spending the last week slagging him off

The people slagging him off (or more accurately, his government's handling of the cv) were doing that because they cared about the huge number of people who were dying possibly unnecessarily, thanks to a 'herd immunity' programme without a vaccine, and to all the medical staff without PPE. So they were doing it because they cared about lives and have empathy.

In the same way, I care about Boris Johnson's life, and want him to get well. It's possible to disagree with how someone runs a country (which, to be completely fair, is a pretty complex thing), but still want them to get better quickly.

Ideally, he'll be treated by the NHS, get better, and be so thankful that he properly funds them and rewards them with pay-rises.

TheShapeJaper · 05/04/2020 22:26

Why does anyone feel the need to state that they don’t like him before wishing him well? Just weird.

RUOKHon · 05/04/2020 22:26

I am NOT a Tory, but on a human level I find this upsetting news very sad and scary, and I genuinely hope he makes a full recovery so that he can enjoy the arrival of his new baby in good health.

middleager · 05/04/2020 22:26

I wish him a speedy recovery. I am currently unwell and the 'Lungs' thread on here shows how dangerous this virus can get, quickly.

Oh God, Raab or Gove, lesser of two evils.

Maybe Hunt should face the music.

Devlesko · 05/04/2020 22:27

His partner didn't need testing, so it was reported.
She just had to self isolate when Boris was showing symptoms, and moved from number 10.
When was it announce she was tested and why? Perhaps she showed symptoms too.

My dil is pg and has been in contact with someone affected. Just told to isolate, certainly no test offered.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 05/04/2020 22:27

Bloody hell. I don’t think you need to like the man to hope he gets better.

Angelw · 05/04/2020 22:28

OMG, he must be very unwell. We got a Letter from our local council today which advised not to go into hospital, unless if condition became worse or unbearable.
Bless him, it’s a trying time but I send him get well soon wishesFlowers. I really like Boris

AmelieTaylor · 05/04/2020 22:28

@daisychain01

It’s perfectly possible to criticise the Govts decisions but wish the PM a good recovery 🙄

Joe public can't get treatment as a 'precautionary' matter

Joe Public isn’t the leader of the country🙄 obviously he will get oreferentual treatment because it benefits ALL of us. FFS

Moomin8 · 05/04/2020 22:28

I heard that she had been sufficiently poorly to be laid up in bed.

pocketem · 05/04/2020 22:28

The Guardian was told last week that Johnson was more seriously ill than either he or his officials were prepared to admit, and that he was being seen by doctors who were concerned about his breathing.

NewDOOFUSfor20 · 05/04/2020 22:28

Now is not the time to score political points. No matter who he is, what his job, this is still a human being with a girlfriend and unborn child who is clearly quite unwell. I don't think any decent person would think it's funny or that he's deserving to be so unwell (looking at you shegrowshorns Hmm).

lyralalala · 05/04/2020 22:29

Perhaps he's going to be given some fluids etc? I can imagine you dehydrate pretty fast with fevers going on for days.

That could have been done at Downing St. He'll be in hospital for something they absolutely can't do (like xrays or scans) or care they can't give from a 24 hour medical team at Downing St.

JoeExotic · 05/04/2020 22:30

How scary

Alsohuman · 05/04/2020 22:30

I hope he gets better soon, the thought of Raab being in charge makes my blood run cold.

HibiscusPot · 05/04/2020 22:30

He was talking rapidly and easily the other day, no signs of breathlessness, so hopefully that’s a good sign.

Boris is the devil's work...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/04/2020 22:32

They’ll know the results for this already. It wont take 2 hours to get his results back and it sounds like he’d already been in hospital a couple of hours before they announced it. So he’s poorly enough either by obs or investigation results to need to stay.

This. He’s the Prime Minister. If they wanted to get him in and out quickly for tests they would. And probably announce the results when he was home. If they’ve admitted him and had to release that info it’s because he’s sick enough to have to be there. Certainly more than tests as a precaution.

UYScuti · 05/04/2020 22:32

The timing of her speech is uncanny. An hour before he was admitted
good point!

ArriettyJones · 05/04/2020 22:33

I wish him a speedy recovery.

I can’t help thinking of the dynamics of his personal life, either, and how they impact in difficult medical situations.

His partner is pregnant and must be frightened for him.

I am pretty sure it was also reported that his children are still cross with him and Carrie because she was originally the OW, so possibly his children don’t know his partner.

He and his siblings have been at loggerheads over Brexit. Some of it really quite public and bitter,

Finally, I do also feel for Marina, his ex wife. It’s very difficult to switch your feelings off like a tap when you divorce in reaction to adultery.

And none of them can visit him. Horrible situation when you’re frightened for a loved one.

I hope he gets well soon and this scare helps bring them together.

IronNeonClasp · 05/04/2020 22:34

A very grave situation for them to have to report it. I was already feeling sad from the Queen but this is awful.

And this is not the time for a fucking cat scrap please ffs have some fucking heart..
