Is Boris Johnson OK?

Does anyone know how his health is and how he’s doing?

OP posts:
handmedownqueen · 07/04/2020 07:47

Incredibly sad and feels like the world is spinning out of control. ICU stats are abysmal but I so hope he pulls through ( and the money no object ethos continues to be his political belief about the NHS long after )
Hope his children have been reconciled to him before this and his pregnant partner is being comforted and not in isolation

Roselilly36 · 07/04/2020 07:48

I hope he recovers, I can only imagine how Carrie must be feeling right now, and his family too. I feel so sorry for every family in this position, regardless of politics. Get well soon Boris.

Kateplaysrugbyinmydreams · 07/04/2020 07:51

That comment from Trump is so revealing - he believes in a health system where who you know and what you can afford matters. He can't comprehend that's irrelevant here. Boris is getting the same treatment that anybody else would get and when he gets out of ICU there will be no shattering bill.

It's all so staggering - politics is irrelevant now. All it's about is the life there is to save.

Kateplaysrugbyinmydreams · 07/04/2020 07:53

Just a slight caveat about ICU stats - we really don't know enough about outcomes yet. The 50/50 is based on outcomes from patients who have quickly died or quickly recovered. There is a cohort who will survive but be in ICU for weeks and they aren't really in the figures as yet. There is hope the survival will be a lot better than 50% when all is said and done.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/04/2020 07:54

Unbelievable - the narcissist Trump turning around even, 'thoughts and prayers,' and making it about himself - that he acted quickly which is just so contrary to all of the evidence.

MarshaBradyo · 07/04/2020 09:22

KatePlays yes agree re what Trump thinks. He is a liability atm. His wild statements have been unfounded all along, from initial hoax to therapeutics. Just heard on R4 that he cut off Anthony F at a press conference re their viability.

SouthWestmom · 07/04/2020 09:43

Gove on LBC says not a ventilator but received oxygen. Doesn't sound like anyone spoke to him since Saturday from government

^I suppose you are one of the wankers wanting everybody to clap for the idiot tonight
No thanks , he shouldn't even be in an NHS establishment^

@Smilebehappy123

Your partisan poison speaks volumes about you. Smile. Be happy.

MarieQueenofScots · 07/04/2020 10:29

he shouldn't even be in an NHS establishment seen as how he despises the NHS so much

Fortunately the NHS doesn't run by your rules on who is worthy for treatment.

PrivateEye · 07/04/2020 10:31

I think there's going to be a big cohort of people who survive Covid-19 and leave hospital with permanent lung function impairment. It's life-changing.

Whatever I think of anyone's politics, I'd not wish this awful illness on anybody. The PM is still a father, son, brother, partner, friend. Lots of people worried about him. Plenty of time to hold him to account once he recovers. Until then, it's time to let him heal.

VegetableMunge · 07/04/2020 10:46

Boris became PM in July not December ohtheroses, and prior to that he participated in governments that defunded the NHS in real terms. It's a fact, like it or not. You of course get to decide whether this is relevant to how you feel now, but pretending someone who has been in government for a lot of the past few years is somehow not culpable for the decisions he supported and voted for is nonsensical.

vanillandhoney · 07/04/2020 10:47

How thoroughly unpleasant. Thankfully the NHS doctors and nurses don't think like you.

Lindy2 · 07/04/2020 10:49

I actually hope Government doesn't speak to him for a while. He needs 100% rest. Perhaps if he'd slowed down a bit and rested he might not have got so Ill. We'll never know and I do understand that as PM he felt a duty to keep up appearances and stay in control.

But now the man needs to take the time to heal. I really hope he is able to do this.

BornfreebutinCovidChains · 07/04/2020 10:50

Id like to see the evidence where he despises the NHS!

BovaryX · 07/04/2020 10:50

Boris Johnson won an 80 seat majority in December. Multiple Labour constituencies, some of whom had voted Labour for over a hundred years delivered that majority. The partisan, insularity on this thread is not in anyway reflective of mainstream public opinion. It does however, reflect extremely badly on certain posters who are incapable of moving beyond their tribal political allegiances.

The80sweregreat · 07/04/2020 10:58

I just heard on the news that Michael Gove is self isolating. Anyone who has been close to the PM or Matt Hancock lately must be so worried.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 07/04/2020 11:02

Where is the rest of the cabinet? Where's the chancellor? We've only seen the same few ministers for days now. Can't remember the last time we saw the chancellor.

rc22 · 07/04/2020 11:03

I don't like him or support his politics but hope he makes a quick and full recovery. When Matt Hancock re-emerged from self isolation, I think he still looked really poorly but the last time he did the briefing he looked much better. It was also good to see Chris Whitty looking well yesterday too.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 07/04/2020 11:04

Gove is self-isolating because a family member has symptoms. He is feeling well.

I have been wondering about Sunak. Johnson was standing right next to him the day before he announced he had symptoms, not two metres away. He is surely at risk. Is he isolating?

Glowcat · 07/04/2020 11:26

’I just heard on the news that Michael Gove is self isolating’

If only he’d done that earlier. Like 10 years ago.
