Does anyone know how his health is and how he’s doing?

There is a cohort who will survive but be in ICU for weeks and they aren't really in the figures as yet. There is hope the survival will be a lot better than 50% when all is said and done.

That’s a glad half-full view, which may turn out to be case. Alternatively, it could go the other way, and the longer you are on a ventilator, the lower the chances of ultimately pulling through.

That's if they are able to continue to be ventilated for those longer periods. They may be taken off to make them available for people who are more likely to survive. It depends on how acute the shortages are.

MarieQueenofScots · 07/04/2020 11:47

are you thick?

Well there’s today’s irony quota achieved 🙄

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 11:49

@BovaryX isn’t thick.

Someone is but it isn’t Bovary.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 07/04/2020 11:52

@Glowcat. I agree. I wish Mr Gove no harm but can only look with utter dismay at the Tory party and think that what they’ve put our country through in the last ten years, is scandalous.

I’m more concerned about the man who’s deputising for Mr Johnson. Wasn’t it Mr Raab who made some comment in a tv debate that people don’t really NEED Universal Credit and that people who attend food banks only do so because they “have a cash flow problem”?

I know the immediate threat is Covid-19 but going forward, if we dare to imagine moving forward from this crisis, I despair for the many who will have “cash flow problems”. Unless we see a very different side to Mr Raab in this new role, I fear he is a man with absolutely no compassion.

UYScuti · 07/04/2020 11:54

we want Boris to get better because he is the prime minister and we need a leader at a time of global crisis, it's not about 'licking Borris ass' it's about wanting the country to come through this for the good of everyone, the time for criticizing people's politics is not now
now is the time to pull together

Glowcat · 07/04/2020 12:14

He has the look of a man walks the walk but doesn’t know what colour the boathouse is.

SouthWestmom · 07/04/2020 13:04

Radio saying he definitely isn't on a ventilator and has received oxygen. Apparently not pneumonia (May have missed that but properly).

Smilebehappy123 · 07/04/2020 14:05

@MarieQueenofScots you keep worrying about your pal boris then whilst nurses and keyworkers are dropping dead left right and centre because they do not have the right equipment to do their jobs because of this government

UYScuti · 07/04/2020 14:10

Smilebehappy how would you like this to play out?
I take it that you prefer it if the prime minister dies?

MarieQueenofScots · 07/04/2020 14:48

you keep worrying about your pal boris then whilst nurses and keyworkers are dropping dead left right and centre because they do not have the right equipment to do their jobs because of this government

I'm not in the slightest bit worried. I'm also not a cunt and I don't wish people ill.

Whilst you're frothing over virtue-signalling, what have YOU done to assist the keyworkers other than trite meaningless soundbites on an internet forum?

Smilebehappy123 · 07/04/2020 16:51

@MarieQueenofScots

I am a key worker , one who sees hows the cuts this government make impact services and yet hypocrites like you want to applaud this man , also to the poster above nobody wished him dead , I'm just more concerned for the front line staff

middleager · 07/04/2020 17:19

While we're at it, where is Dominic Cummings? He was last seen running down the road and then in SI after it was announced the PM had it, but that was what, 10 days ago?...

MarieQueenofScots · 07/04/2020 17:29

and yet hypocrites like you want to applaud this man

Oh dear if you want to accuse people of things you need to get your facts straight.

I clearly said I wouldn’t clap but wished him well.

Just checking you were calling other people thick...? Comprehension skills are truly going out of fashion aren’t they?

DarnedSocks · 07/04/2020 17:31

The nhs has been underfunded and mismanaged for decades. By all parties. Austerity was a disgrace but that's on Cameron, Osborne, and Clegg. May too really. Then there's the issues caused by Hunt. Labour saddled the NHS with crippling PFI debts. None of the parties comes out well. The past couple of decades has seen our population increase by around 8 million through migration, and a large ageing population. This requires increased capacity in hospitals, better funded resources, improved infrastructure. Yet successive governments failed to do anything and actually closed hospitals. Boris hasn't been in the job long enough to judge with regards the NHS.

Some people take on board comments and revise their opinions. Perhaps Raab might do that re food banks? Particularly now Covid-19 has shown just how easy it is to suddenly find yourself in need of a safety net. In any event the UK PM (or their stand-in) does not take decisions alone. He or she works with the rest of the cabinet, their advisers, civil servants.

KenDodd · 07/04/2020 17:43

what have YOU done to assist the keyworkers

I can tell you what I've done to assist them.
Not voted Tory.

JudyCoolibar · 07/04/2020 17:52

The trouble with all the assurances they keep giving us is that two days ago they were telling us Johnson was only going into hospital for precautionary tests, it was a planned visit, it was all just a minor glitch. And it's less than a day since they told us he was happily working from his hospital bed and no-one was worried. So, whilst I really hope that current assurances are true, there is a definite credibility problem.

VegetableMunge · 07/04/2020 18:01

Boris hasn't been PM long, but he was part of an administration that oversaw cuts to NHS spending in real terms. People are perfectly correct to hold him to account for that. The fact that he's nowhere near being the only politician culpable for it doesn't change that.

Jade1976 · 07/04/2020 18:07

The tone of this thread has turned nasty imo.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 07/04/2020 18:14

Well I for one wish BJ well and will be thinking of his families.

Indeed. Good start. Ive been taking the same course of action since I turned 18.

Of course that still doesn’t mean I’m the type of prick who rejoices in someone else’s ill health as many on this thread appear to do!

Barrique · 07/04/2020 18:22

Mockers Ouch.

RaspberryBubblegum · 07/04/2020 18:22

He'll be fine.
He'll be out of hospital soon and will be blocking nurses payrises for years to come.

peridito · 07/04/2020 18:41

quite agree .

Personally I was disturbed by Matt Hancock's breezy assumption that BJ would be back in "short order" in tonight's press conference .

I loathe The PM and the tories but I don't wish any of them harm with respect to their health. I did a little cheer when Maggie died to be sure but I didn't wish her dead. I don't think they are being honest about his condition and I did idly wonder how they fill the vacancy left if he died. But death from this illness sounds absolutely bloody awful and those who are seriously ill deserve compassion. Ironically, given the tories haven't shown much compassion to the general public in my lifetime.
