Cant help remembering how he blithely said "people will die" though. Subtext: it wont be me.

Boris probably had the same mindset as young teenagers tend to have ' it won't happen to me' ! He is a kind of a Peter Pan character sometimes.
It is sad.

I’ve seen some really nasty posts elsewhere tonight, people are nasty. He’s someone’s son, he has a pregnant girlfriend. This is real and it’s sad.

I think everybody thinks it won't happen to them. It can happen to any of us Unfortunately.

Re possible press black out if he doesn't make it. They won't have a daily briefing if he worsens as that is what the questions will be about.

I'm really struggling with the fact he was Tweeting and all 'appeared' to be well.

I wish he hadn't carried on working and just delegated responsibility.

I think gathering what I've read about the virus it seems you can feel like you're at a turning point and then suddenly very quickly go downhill, so this doesn't surprise me, although could be the gov trying to downplay how serious it was before the press conference.

I doubt he ever goes on Twitter himself. Some junior admin somewhere will be releasing carefully crafted and pre-approved messages.

At least he will be given every possible fighting chance by the hospital.

Not a fan of Boris, but pretty horrid news. Really feel for his partner who is also poorly and his unborn child.
