It’s called Some Good News.

Millie2013 · 17/04/2020 15:37

@UpOnDown, your name is familiar Grin Welcome lovely 😘

UpOnDown · 17/04/2020 16:27

Thanks all, that podcast sounds good

Millie2013 · 17/04/2020 17:12

So pleased you’re here ❤️

StCharlotte · 17/04/2020 17:52

Oh Arcadia the children's video in that Guardian article made me quite teary (in a sweet way).

Had a bit of a dramatic day yesterday. DH got out of a very hot bath after overdoing it on the allotment and fainted twice. The second time I genuinely thought he'd died (as he hit his head on the way down and was just staring and slack-jawed). Totally terrifying. Luckily for us our lovely next door neighbour is a paramedic so the "ambulance response time" was about 30 seconds! He's fine but very sore from hitting various bits of bathroom furniture on the way down!

Today's positive is that several people have offered to pick up shopping for us (who I hasten to add were already going) So I've asked them all for chocolate biscuits Grin

Bunnyflop · 17/04/2020 17:58

Someone give me some reassurance please! Sad the chemist delivery man dropped off our medicines earlier and he was on our lower front step leaning forward with his arm outstretched to hand them to me and not wanting to seem rude I outstretched my arm and took them. For a second he was only about 3-4 foot from me. Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh!

ImPeckish · 17/04/2020 18:03

I'm so glad of a positive thread! :)

maria860 · 17/04/2020 18:25

Hope I can join this thread I don't post on here much but need some support at the moment really struggling and had a Delivery earlier and they guy leaned in and got so close to me so not I'm freaking in also pregnant and so scared and crying a lot and having anxiety attacks every night where my face burns up like a tomato and I convince myself I have it.
I'm hoping the delivery guy does not have it as he breathed in my air space 😓

Millie2013 · 17/04/2020 18:58

Bunny, I’m no virologist but I have a PhD in a life science subject, you’ll be absolutely fine 😘

UpOnDown · 17/04/2020 19:03

I don't think either of you will have caught it, hugs (virtual).

maria860 · 17/04/2020 19:08

Thanks guys I hate being this nervous wreck of a person I was ten years ago

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/04/2020 19:09

Even if these people had neocoronavirus, which is not really all that likely, the chances that you would have caught it from them are so small as not to be worth an instant's worry. Truly.

Spudlet · 17/04/2020 19:20

Hello all. Been a chilly one here today. I went for a little bike ride to collect a prescription for a lady in the neighbouring village, and the headwind on the way there was knackering. But I was flying all the way home! Felt quite nervous about going into the doctor’s surgery to get the prescription filled, but of course it was all fine - no one else in there and the only thing I actually touched was the bag with the stuff in it. And I had my trusty little bottle of hand sanitiser. I feel so silly to be so paranoid about touching things, I used to be the girl who poo-picked our stables with holey rubber gloves then ate lunch without so much as a wet wipe!

But anyway, it was good to help out a bit and I even got a thank you card, which was so unexpected and lovely.

Good news that it appears that we’ll be starting to do contact tracing again - this seems to be really important in keeping numbers down to manageable levels.

Benji13 · 17/04/2020 19:36

I find it really disconcerting how some delivery people don’t seem to be observing social distancing. I now keep the front door shut and yell please leave it in the porch as the dog will run out. Lie - the dog wouldn’t he’s a good lad but it’s a useful excuse!

Anyhow we have had a treat of a chippy tea. Fish and chips - lovely. Our local fish and chip shop had been closed but he’s set up
A system this week where you phone between 10 and 3 place your order pay over the phone then collect at an allocated time. It worked very smoothly. I even dropped fish and chips to my mum and dads.

Older ds (23) has volunteered to go and do the food shopping tomorrow and we have a butchers delivery tomorrow and fruit and veg delivery on Monday so I don’t yet have to venture to the big bad shops - which I am so worried about. It’s amazing isn’t it something we used to pop out and do all the time now feels like game of thrones!

maria860 · 17/04/2020 20:34

I agree that's the second time one has done to close to me now but today's one was worse he came right up to me like face to face so I'm stressing like mad now and I'm to nice to say pee off. Just praying he doesn't have it I suppose

Millie2013 · 17/04/2020 20:52

@Spudlet we used to drink tea while mucking out, we'd even eat biscuits without a second thought. (this was only a matter of weeks ago, but it seems like a lifetime).

Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 21:11

I sent my mum one of the M&S boxes and was annoyed to see she'd been asked to sign for it. Thought they weren't supposed to be doing that now.

StCharlotte · 17/04/2020 21:16

Ooh another personal positive - one of the local pubs is delivering Sunday lunch so we've ordered for this week. I am disproportionately excited!

Positive news from oxford

Bunnyflop · 17/04/2020 21:45

Thank you for the reassurance!

Bunnyflop · 17/04/2020 21:46

@benji13 damn I want fish and chips now. Or chish and fips as we call it.

gingerbreadslice · 18/04/2020 08:22

Hope everyone has a great weekend this weather is a bit pants here. But I did get to listen to the rain pelting down last night so that was nice i was asleep in minutes Smile. I bought some old dvds of eBay and they finally came yesterday.
So I binged watched series 1 of footballers wives last night I don't know if anyone remembers it? I forgot how trashy it was and how much they smoke in it especially in the pubs and stuff it seemed so strange seeing that I think the smoking ban came in 2007 and this was made 2001 Shock

whenwillthemadnessend · 18/04/2020 08:28

Going to make scones today

Ironing

Have to give myself goals everyday

Oh and I might have found a place still hiring tools which will be brilliant as we have moved and need to do so much Diy!!

(But these is frowned on for some crazy reason during lockdown. )

gingerbreadslice · 18/04/2020 08:55

@whenwillthemadnessend Love scones and get your tools I've done a few diy things since we've been in, it has to be done and as long as you stay away from people I don't see the harm in getting them? I went to Wilkos to get paint felt really silly at first but I just see it as if we didn't go and get these things people would lose jobs.
